A n o t e f r o m t h e N e w s l e t t e r E d i t o r C e da r V a l l e y R u n n i n g A s s o c i at i o n Dear Runners, Hopefully the 2013 is finding you in good health and eager to take on the challenges of a new year. To help with your fitness goals, remember you can always turn to the CVRA for support. We feature regular training runs on Tuesdays, Thursday, Saturdays, and Sundays. To help beginning runners we sponsor an annual Couch to 5K training program. Over the year we also will be putting on eight races in our area. This year we have: Freeze Fest, Mall to Mall, 5th Seasons Races on July 4th, Swamp Fox, Timber Trek, Indian Summer, Fairview Trail Run, and we ll finish the year with the Red Dress Run. Along with putting on our own races, we actively promote many other events in our area. We do this by sharing our race management expertise, equipment rental, and contributing experienced volunteers. We hope the new year will see you involved in running and enjoying the many benefits of your active lifestyle. CVRA s Annual Jingle Bell Run Each year in the month of December the CVRA holds its annual Jingle Bell Run through the city of Marion. The Jingle Bell Run is an evening group run followed by a pizza social at Tomaso s in downtown Marion. After the 3 mile run, participants congregated at Tomaso s for dinner and even a fun awards ceremony. Awards were given to the participant who was the most festive, the least festive, the Grinch award and even to the runner who donned the best holiday accessories. Once again, the weather was nearly ideal for the run, but as always when you get a group of runners together for a social event, the atmosphere was perfect. REMEMBER For all the latest news and photos from the CVRA, be sure to friend us on Facebook This year s event was held on December 13th and was a casual jog that meandered through residential neighborhoods where runners could enjoy the holiday lighting and decorations that are on display. Jingle Bell runners enjoying their second favorite activity, socializing over pizza and libations. Freeze Fest 5K Registration The CVRA 2013 racing season begins on February 23rd with our annual Freeze Fest 5K at Squaw Creek Park in Marion. The race begins at 11:00 and is followed by the club s annual social event at the pavilion from noon to 4:00. You can register now on-line at GetMeRegistered.com Page 3
