Box 708 Attn: Dave Cronin Re: Rock Chalk Park-Pavement Corings Lawrence, Kansas Dave: CFS Engineers performed twenty (20), four (4) inch diameter concrete corings on August 22, 2014 as requested per the City of Lawrence. Cores were taken at locations marked by the City of Lawrence. The concrete, AB-3 subbase and fly ash treated subgrade thicknesses were determined. The subbase and subgrade thicknesses were measured in the field and the concrete cores were brought back to the office for measurement. The concrete cores (except for coring #14) will be stored at our Lawrence office for a period of sixty (60) days in the case the City of Lawrence has any questions on the findings of this investigation. The fly ash treated subgrade measurements only indicate the presence of fly ash in the material, not the quality of the subgrade or the fly ash content. After the coring was performed, a hand auger was used to extract the disturbed soil at the desired depth. The bottom of the hand auger was checked to determine if fly ash was present in the soil. Please let us know if you have any questions. The opportunity to provide this service to the City of Lawrence is appreciated. Kenneth M. Blair, P.E. Chairman Robert S. Chambers, P.E. Box 708 Attn: Dave Cronin Re: Rock Chalk Park-Pavement Additional Corings George Williams Way Lawrence, Kansas Dave: CFS Engineers performed three (3) additional four (4) inch diameter concrete corings on September 11, 2014 as requested per the City of Lawrence. The scope included concrete coring and examining the soil in locations determined and marked by the City of Lawrence. The corings are labeled as 5a, 6a and 7a. The concrete cores and soil samples will be stored at our office for a period of sixty (60) days in the case the City of Lawrence has any questions on the findings of this investigation. The fly ash treated subgrade measurements in the attached summary only indicate the presence of fly ash in the material, not the quality of the subgrade or the fly ash content. After the concrete coring was performed, a hand auger was used to extract the top six(6) inches of soils beneath the concrete for corings 5a, 6a and 7a. The soil samples were taken back to our laboratory to determine the presence of fly ash in the soil samples. There was no indication of the presence of fly ash in the soil samples for the three corings performed on September 11, 2014. Kenneth M. Blair, P.E. Chairman Robert S. Chambers, P.E.
