G.P.G.C./G.P.S.D.C. THE BULLET-TIN Volume 11 November 2004 Phone (972) 641-9940 (leave message) www.gpgc.net Annual Dove Hunt in Clairemont The weekend of the 24th a group of 11 traveled to beautiful west Texas to participate in an annual dove hunt. As usual there were an abundance of birds and the action was fast. A drenching rain and cool weather Saturday did not slow down the birds, just the hunters as most of the shooters checked in with full limits. The accommodations and meals were normal (excellent) and Saturday night the pork roast was highlighted with 50 grilled dove breasts. 4 wheel drive vehicles handled the mud easily and his Navigator would get Bill Schweitzer to the dove field but not always back. We had a shortage of gun club members because many stayed in Grand Prairie to help work the registered shoot that same weekend. If anyone is interested in this hunt see the card below. Eddwin has several options on accommodations from an individual to 16. The cost is $330 for a full 2-day hunt including meals and lodging. He specializes in mule deer and whitetails, turkey, feral boars, coyotes, dove & quail. Terry Cullender John Slocum installed a motion light at the Hunter Ed steps. Turkey Shoot November 21, 2004 Just a reminder for those that look forward to a day of fun and games at GPGC at the annual Turkey Shoot. Club members only please. Make sure to put this on your calendar. Smoked turkey lunch will be served from noon until 1:00 followed by shooting games and a chance to win a turkey. Like last year Benny will be smoking extra turkeys for a fund raiser- order early. The smoked birds will be ready to pick up Sunday, the 21st. If interested in a savory bird - ready to heat and serve on Thanksgiving - please contact Bill Schweitzer at try8@comcast.net or Benny Emmons at supreme@flash.net. I will also post a separate sign up sheet in the office. We ask that you prepay to guarantee your reservation. Please mark paid on the sign up sheet and leave the money with the range master. Total cost will be $25.00 including bird and all money goes to the GPGC. Several members have already reserved birds - as we are limited to about 30 birds, these will go fast and be on a first come basis - so sign up early! Education Classes Set for the Year 2004 The club will conduct seven (7) TEXAS HUNTER EDUCATION classes this coming year. The schedule is as follows: Student Class Nov. 15, 18, 20 Dec. 6, 9, 11 Instructor Workshops Nov. 27 - PWD Wounding/Loss (Open to Public) Dec. 18 - PWD Wounding/Loss (Open to Public) Each class will consist of two (2) night sessions and one (1) full day. The days are Monday and Thursday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and the Saturday session will be from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The cost is $10.00 check, money order or cashier's check made out to: Grand Prairie Education Committee 972-641-9940 (leave message) A ttention hunters!
