Gentlemen of the BTC, April 19, 2018 Yep! What a difference the weather can change in days or weeks time. Our President and Golf Chairman made a wise executive decision on Tuesday s opening day at Silver Lakes. The grounds were frozen and the weather was just plain crappy. On a happier note, we had a great turn-out for dinner that evening. Opening day was not a total loss and a big thank you to all that attended. My schedule took me out of town Monday and was due back later that evening. However, I received a text message early Monday afternoon letting me know that golf had been cancelled for the next day. This allowed me extra time with no rush to return that Tuesday. Gentlemen, if you have not done so already sign up for the texting service. Thank You Greg Lewis & Rich Schroeder for the great idea and putting it into play. I heard we ran a test at dinner and all went well. A big thank you to Jim Van Eck our Sergeant at Arms for taking attendance and collecting monies from the non-golfers that attended dinner. Also, President Larry authorized a one (1) free drink ticket to everyone in attendance. Quote of the day: Got nothing (I did not make the dinner and no quotes were sent to me this week). On a side note, I have not yet heard from Terry Samoska if members have caught up in the Hole-In-One Club. If you have not, see Terry before you tee-off next week. Give a big warm BTC welcome to our newest applicants. You re Secretary, Gary Foster gary@creativecolorsintl.com gnea4@hotmail.com Cell # 708-417-4280 To encourage everyone to sign up for the text service, included again this week are the directions for the service. The service was used for last Tuesday's cancellation and was very successful in notifying members of the necessary change in schedule. Please take the time to register for this service. BTC Members: Greg Lewis & Rich Schroeder, with the approval of our President, Larry Garetto, have established a BTC account with a texting service (RainedOut.com). It would be used to issue last minute announcements that would otherwise be too late to act on, before the next newsletter was published. We foresee it to keep you informed of changes to our scheduled sports (rainout for golf, dinner time changed, etc.), or the passing of a member. Each member needs to sign up from their smart phone, via text (instructions below). Each sport group has its own announcement sub-group, and there is a general account for those that only want general announcements. 1-Text address is 84483 2-Type one of the bolded keywords below, as your message: BTCgolf -golf and general notices BTCbowling -bowling and general notices BTCtennis -tennis and general notices
Builderstee -general notices only For those that participate in multiple sports, you should sign up multiple times with the keywords above. You will not get duplicate messages, even if you sign up for multiple accounts. 3-press SEND 4-You will get a text back, confirming you signed up, and that s it! Chairmen, Greg & Rich, can issue the notices, so contact one of us, when needed. The same text notice will also appear on our website, the current newsletter page. On occasion, a notice may need to refer you to the website, for more information, as the text notice is limited to 120 characters. Let Rich know if additional information needs to be posted to the website. Another message from Rich Schroeder: "This is the 34th year of the Linguini Classic. It takes place Thursday May 30 thru Saturday June 1. The event is focused on Sentry World Golf Course in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. This is one of Wisconsin's most beautiful courses, originally designed and then renovated in 2014 with the influence of Robert Trent Jones Jr. It's a 4 hour drive that's worth the trip (www.sentryworld.com). Click on the link in our website newsletter for the signup sheet, then build your own 4-some, or sign-up as a single. Rich Schroeder is the "Big Ragu" that has organized this trip for the last 9 years. Over a dozen BTC members have played in the past and also continue to attend each year. Feel free to ask Rich any questions you may have (don't dilly-dally)." Sincerely, Richard Schroeder 708-878-3913-c GOLF NEWS - DICK KAMIN Rules for the Scramble There are 11 teams in the "A" Division, 10 teams in the "B" Division. 1. All players tee off on each hole.
