Mission The Hawaii Invitational of Polo is a world class polo event that is held every year at the Waimanalo Polo Fields on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. This professional and upscale event is one of the many polo events that have been produced by the event team at Hawaii Polo Productions (HPP). HPP works closely with local companies to stage equestrian sporting events that best fit into the long-term development plan of it s beneficiary; The Hawaii International Polo Association (HIPA). The Hawaii International Polo Association was founded in 2013 with three primary program initiatives: 1. Celebrate polo s unique history in Hawaii dating back to 1880. 2. Establish an equine retirement program for Polo Ponies. 3. Develop Hawaii s at-risk youth via horsemanship clinics. In order to fund these initiatives the event team at HPP created the Hawaii Invitational, an annual fundraising event designed to elevate the level of polo played in Hawaii. By flying in professional polo players from across the globe and aligning with like minded businesses, HPP continues to raise the bar. Over the years, this event has grown into an exceptionally elegant event attracting a variety of luxury sponsors like The Kahala Hotel and Resort, Cartier, Ferrari, Lamborghini, just to name a few. Every major polo community in the world has an annual event showcasing world class polo; the Coronation Cup in England, the US Open in the United States the Polo Gold Cup in Dubai and now, the Hawaii Invitational - placing Hawaii on the world stage of polo. MEET THE FOUNDER Chairman & Founder of HIPA Christopher Dawson is a prominent Native Hawaiian business leader in the community. Furthermore, he is an avid horseman and polo player who served on the board of the United States Polo Association for the past 10 years. In that position he gained invaluable experience in the areas of marketing, branding, broadcasting, and merchandising of polo on a national and international level. I ve had the distinct privilege to play polo all over the world in some of the most amazing places. During my travels, my one constant thought was that Hawaii is truly a magical destination that should be showcasing world class polo. In doing so, we celebrate our rich history of polo in the Hawaiian Islands dating back to 1880 during the reign of King David Kalakaua, while promoting polo for future generations. Four Day Event Schedule Thursday September 14, 2017 Red Carpet Media Event and Dinner 6:00pm 8:00pm Kahala Hotel and Resort: Waialae Room Select guests and sponsors will mix and mingle with professional polo players at Hawaii s most prestigious hotel, the Kahala Hotel and Resort. Enjoy libations from the resort s top mixologist and perfect wine tastings chosen by the hotel s sommelier. Guests will also dine on unique delicacies prepared by Executive Chef Wayne Hirabayashi. At 8:00pm HPL will announce the team selection at this guest-list-only, red carpet media party. Friday September 15, 2017 Private Polo Practice Media Meet and Greet 3:00pm-6:00pm Mokuleia Polo Fields This is a private, press only, meet and greet hosted by HIPA at the Mokuleia Polo Fields. Photographers will have an opportunity to photograph the practice, the horses and the players. There will be a private Q&A session after the game.
