We would like to gently remind our residents that these events are billed as family events and we regret that we can not allow any children under 12 to attend without an adult. Thank you to everyone who has participated so far and we look forward to seeing all of you at our December Concert. More details on page 5. PAGE 2 THE WORLD OF WESTON HILLS DECEMBER, 2008 Emails sent to WestonHillsHOA@gmail.com Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that yesterday our garage door broke and I called the company that installed the door originally on our house. They came and fixed the door in 24 hours. He also replaced the burnt out light bulbs for our garage door opener in the ceiling. I am guessing that if the company installed our garage doors they probably installed a lot of them in this subdivision. He also went across the street while he was here and fixed their garage door also (without an appointment). The people on the phone were friendly and helpful and the man who came was friendly and polite. They charged only $155 to fix the springs (that is what was broken) which included cost of parts, labor and taxes. (Other companies we heard about charged up to $400 to do the same). Please feel free to post their name out there. I told the man on the phone that if they did a great job I would pass on their information to the homeowners association which he was very grateful for: Hastings Garage Door (RSCT) 851 Jetstream Drive Orlando, FL 32824 800-227-3159 Ask for Steve Thank you to the kind neighbor that wrote in with this testimonial. Have you had a great experience with a local company or witnessed a kind act in our neighborhood? Please let us know! In these tough times, it s great to spread good news!

This is one business we don t mind seeing go: The Rumor mill. Here are some of our favorite rumors that we have heard in the last month. Rumor #1: The newsletter is written by the HOA. Truth: The Newsletter Committee is comprised of five neighbors who donate their time to get this out to you. None of us have served, or currently serve, on the HOA board. We mainly communicate via email with ideas and articles...and we always welcome submissions from the rest of the neighborhood! Rumor #2: I noticed in the last newsletter that there was a picture of a brand new big screen TV at the clubhouse. Maybe our dues could ve dropped further if our HOA hadn t spent money on that! Truth: The big screen that was shown in the picture was actually a 9 ft paper screen built by a husband and wife in our community. They bought the material from Home Depot and Colonial Photo and Hobby and donated it to the HOA. The projector was also donated by another kind neighbor. Rumor #3: I noticed the quote on the signboard out front was directed at me and my dispute with my neighbor. Truth: The sign board is changed every night (except weekends) by a neighbor who does not, and has not, served on our HOA board and has no knowledge of any disputes with HOA, neighbors, or otherwise. She derives all info about HOA matters from the HOA website: WestonHills.Neighborino.com and her involvement with the Social Committee. All other sayings are randomly chosen from websites and literature and are meant to be humorous and motivational. You have probably noticed that as the weather got colder, the sayings got shorter! Rumor #4: The HOA doesn t tell us anything! Truth: Join the E-Loop by emailing WestonHillsHOA@gmail.com or, better yet, attend a meeting the Second Wednesday of every month at the clubhouse.

Disney's Canadian Cheese Soup ½ pound smoked bacon 4 Tbsp butter 3 celery ribs 1 red onion 1 cup flour 3 cups chicken stock 4 cups whole milk 1 lb white cheddar cheese, shredded. ½ tsp salt 1 tsp pepper 1 Tbsp Tabasco sauce 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce ½ cup warm beer (use a good Canadian ale) Dice bacon, celery, and red onion. If possible, use a food processor to make the vegetables very finely minced. Grate cheese. Make spaghetti pan hot first, then switch to medium heat. Add diced bacon, and render for 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Add celery and red onion and stir until onions are translucent (about 3 minutes). Next, add flour and stir into a thick paste, cooking for 2 minutes. Add chicken stock all at once, stir vigorously, and bring to a simmer. Then, add milk slowly, stirring constantly as it pours. Then raise heat slightly and stir for two minutes, then lower heat. Add cheese very slowly, mixing as you go, and melting a bit before adding more. Add salt and pepper. Soup should be getting thicker. After one minute, add Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce. Microwave beer for 20 seconds and mix in. Soup can sit and simmer as long as needed, though it will thicken as time goes by. Garnish with chives when serving. Have a favorite recipe you want to share? Please email us at WestonHillsHOA@gmail.com.

Parents, Do you know where your kids are and what they are doing? Some neighbors have observed unsupervised children abusing playground privileges. They have been spotted riding their bikes up the slide, using the baby swing to climb to the top of the structure, and even urinating in the playground. PLEASE be aware of how your children are behaving in the community. Thank you.
