Downey Fly Fishers November 2013 Join us for our November Program: Modern Saltwater Fly Tying By: Adam Perez Modern Saltwater Fly Tying Adam is our next club member that is going to speak to our club for an in house presentation. After hearing Don speak about surf fishing and Zino and Tod discuss carp tactics, we are lucky to have Adam conduct a presentation about Modern Saltwater Fly Tying. Adam is an extremely innovative fly tyer that pays attention to the small details that make a big difference in catch count for any given day. During the course of his presentation, Adam will discuss some of the new materials that have been developed in recent years which allow flies to move and breath in the water like never before. Adam will also discuss how he creates long lasting flies that can take a pounding and avoid hang ups by the addition of a durable weedguard. Adam has recently created a Facebook page entitled So Cal Fly Tying which was very well-received in the Southern California fly fishing community. Make sure you put the next DFF meeting on your calendar so you can witness firsthand the materials and techniques that Adam uses to create his highly productive flies. Join us at 6 pm for a fly tying demonstration prior to the meeting at 7:00 pm

Bonnie Anderson is the Volunteer Program Coordinator for Casting for Recovery of Southern California (CFR). Bonnie came to Casting for Recovery in March 2013 looking for an opportunity to help others, while bringing together her love for the outdoors and fishing. CFR holds a special place as her better half is a two-time breast cancer survivor. She has volunteered as a therapist working with at-risk teens and counseled families of victims of homicide. Bonnie has also worked in the corporate world for over 20 years. Bonnie has a BA in Business Administration and Management and a MA in Counseling. She has been a corporate trainer and has used her skills to help others. Bonnie has spent her entire life fishing but had never touched a fly rod. Bonnie is now learning and loving fly-fishing and went on her first fly-fishing guide trip in Montana this summer. Bonnie is a Southern California native, as she puts it, once removed. Although she has an absolute love for fishing, she had rarely fished in California waters. She is now learning about the great fishing in Southern California with the help of members of the fly fishing community. She has spent her entire life fishing the rivers of Montana. Bonnie enjoys camping, hiking, and fishing. Bonnie s contact information is as follows: 310-995-6601 anderson-bonnie@sbcglobal.net
