Pullorum Disease (Salmonella pullorum-typhoid), which is caused by the bacteria Salmonella, is one of the most important poultry diseases. Pullorum Disease has been eradicated in U.S. commercial poultry, and it is critical to maintain this disease-free status by monitoring the Pullorum status in commercial, backyard and exhibition poultry. In order for youth and adults to exhibit poultry at a show, poultry must be either certified pullorum-typhoid free through the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) or test negative for Pullorum within 90 days of exhibition. This training will provide adults, aged 18 and older the ability to perform the certified pullorum tests. The certification training fee is $35.
