TERM 1, 2014 MSB / BROKEN BAY REPRESENTATIVE SPORT TEAMS (This information is also available on Bennies Net ) The following sporting teams are selected to represent MSB at Broken Bay Championships SOFTBALL NSW CCC Carnival Wednesday 19th February NSW All Schools Carnival Tuesday 11 th March SWIMMING MSB Swimming Carnival Wednesday 26th February Broken Bay Carnival Monday 24th March TOUCH (SEN16+/INT U15) Broken Bay Carnival Tuesday 25 th February TOUCH (U13) Broken Bay Carnival Tuesday 18 th March TRIATHLON NSW All Schools Individuals Thursday 6 th March NSW All Schools Teams Friday 7th March SOFTBALL This is an OPEN Broken Bay representative team. Trials were held at the end of 2013 for this team. Two MSB students were selected Erin Morley (Y11), Jessica Tong (Y9). These students will compete at the NSW CCC Championships on February 19. SWIMMING A team will be selected from the MSB carnival to compete at the Broken Bay Carnival. Students who wish to enter additional distance events not held at the MSB carnival for subsequent carnivals eg 200m Freestyle will need to complete additional entry nominations on the sports noticeboard early in Term 1. TOUCH Three teams will be selected to represent MSB at Broken Bay carnivals (A Broken Bay U15 and 16+ team will be selected at the carnival):- 16+ Students turning 16+ in 2014 INT - Students turning 14/15 in 2014 JUN - Students turning 12/13 in 2014 Trials will be held during lunchtimes at school as follows: 16+ Mon 3rd Feb (Trial 1), Tues 4th Feb (Call backs), Wednesday 12 th Feb (3 rd trial if needed) U15 Tues 4 th Feb (Trial 1), Thurs 6 th Feb (Trial 2), Mon 10 th Feb (Trial 3), Thurs 13 th Feb (4th if needed) U13 Mon 10 th Feb (Trial Surnames A-M), Wed 19 th Feb (Trial Surnames L-Z), Mon 24 th Feb (Call Backs), Mon 4 th March (4 th trial if needed) Trials will be held during lunchtimes at school. Students who would like to trial will need to sign up on the Sports Notice board this week. Watch Daily Notices for further information. Further trials will be held later in 2014 to select teams for the NSW Y7/8 and Y9/10 All Schools Regional Championships TRIATHLON Individual Students interested in competing in the individual event will need to see Mrs Grant asap. Only competitive triathletes are advised to enter this event.

Triathlon Teams Students will need to form teams of 3 (a swimmer, cyclist, runner) to participate in this event. There are three divisions:- JUN (12/13/14 yrs in 2014) 400m Swim / 10km Cycle / 3km Run INT (15/16yrs in 2014) 600m Swim / 15km Cycle / 4km Run SEN (17+ yrs in 2014) 600m Swim / 15km Cycle / 4km Run Students should be able to complete their race leg in the following times JUN INT SEN Swim (400m) 10min Swim (600m) 15min Swim (600m) 15min Cycle (10km) 30min Cycle (15km) 42min Cycle (15km) 40min Run (3km) 15min Run (4km) 22min Run (4km) 22min Any student who would like to enter will need to attend the meeting on Monday 3rd February at recess in D101. Students (and their bike where applicable) will need to be transported to and from Penrith by their parents. MSB staff supervision will be provided during the day. Watch Daily Notices for further information. TERM 1, 2014 NSW CCC REPRESENTATIVE SPORT Some sports have direct pathways through the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges (NSW CCC) Sports Association System. For these sports parents need to nominate their daughter via the NSW CCC website https://www.csss.nsw.edu.au/nswccc CRICKET - NSW CCC Trials Mon 3rd March Closes Thurs Feb 27 One Open CCC team is chosen. Parents will need to provide transport to and from the trials at Penrith. DIVING - NSW CCC Championships Tues 29 th April Closes Fri 4 th April Competitions are held for Spingboard events in each age group and Open platform. Parents will need to provide transport to and from SOPAC. GOLF - NSW CCC Championships (Nth) Mon 17 th March Closes Mon March 3 See NSW CCC Website for further information. Parents will need to provide transport to and from the trials. HOCKEY NSW CCC Trials Mon 24 th March Closes Fri March 19 An U16 and Open Team are chosen. Parents will need to provide transport to and from the trials at Newcastle. SAILING NSW All Schools Championships Monday 12 th April Further information is available on the NSW CCC Website TENNIS - NSW CCC Trials Monday 3rd March Closes Mon 17 th Feb Trials are held at Parramatta. Players must have an Australian ranking

TERM 1, 2014 NSW CCC REPRESENTATIVE SPORT Further Information Nomination dates are subject to change so parents are encouraged to register as soon as possible if they wish their daughter to nominate. An email is then automatically sent to the College seeking Principal s permission for leave on that day. Parents are responsible for the transportation of their student to and from the trials. Students are responsible for notifying their teachers that they will be absent prior to the date and to obtain work in advance. How to register for NSWCCC Individual entries (using the website) 1. Access the following website: www.csss.nsw.edu.au 2. Click on NSWCCC 3. Click on The sport you wish to register for e.g tennis, golf, triathlon 4. Click Register 5. You will need to create a log in, so click on I need help logging in 6. Scroll down to I don t have a login 7. Click on Register by clicking here 8. As the parent you fill in the first page to register your child 9. You will now need to check your email for the password and the login 10. Go back to webpage and Login 11. You will now be asked to add the details of your child (Please note that your child will stay in the system and will go up an age group each year. The only time a parent will need to re-enter a child is when they roll over from primary to secondary) 12. Once finished, you will go to my account 13. Here you can change your password and add other children, as well as change school details if your child changes through their secondary years 14. Save your details 15. Go to the Sports link e.g tennis, golf, triathlon (back on the homepage) 16. Click on Register 17. Click on the registration form Once you register, you will need to make payment. Please follow the steps for the Bpay section. You can pay this online or at a post office. If payment is not made before the date, then your child s nomination will not be accepted. However the nomination will need to be approved by your School Principal. If the Principal does not accept the nomination, you will be reimbursed your fees. Both the Sports Coordinator and Principal will be notified of your nomination and one of these people will either accept or turn down the nomination.

T1 (First 4 weeks) MSB Rep Sport Trials / Trainings Students MUST attend the trials to be considered for a team. If you cannot attend a trial you need to notify the coach (listed in bold) BEFORE the trial write these dates in your planners now. All students must have sports shoes on to trial. Remember even if you are injured or forget your shoes you must still attend to listen to any information and be put through to the next trial. As trials do take the entire lunchtime duration it might be a good idea to eat your lunch at recess time. Make sure you have handed in the student information slip to the Rep Sport Slot at student services prior to your trials W3 (NEXT WEEK!!) HOW TO TRIAL FOR AN MSB REPRESENTATIVE SPORT TEAM Any student can trial for these teams. Trials, training and competitions usually take place during lunchtimes and school days. Only 1 team of the most talented players per age division is chosen - unlike MSB Co-curricular teams (weekend or after school sport) where all students are placed into a team. What do I need to do? 1. Watch daily notices/check your emails for information 2. Sign up on the sports noticeboard 3. Complete the player information slip and return it to the Representative Sport Slot at student services when you nominate. 4. To be considered players must attend the first trial with appropriate footwear. (if for any reason you are unable to please email or speak to the coach prior to the trial time). Students who are absent from school the day of the first trial will automatically be put through to the second trial date with the call back players. 5. Check the sports noticeboard and your emails regularly for updated information. 6. Keep trialling even if you are unsuccessful one year. 7. Good Luck MSB currently hold 9 Championship titles!!!!
