We are most assuredly off to a great start, both in and out of our classrooms. Leading off, as some of you may already be aware, the state of Missouri recently released our EOC (End of Course Exam) scores from the 2015-16 school year. While we certainly know there is much work to be done, I would be remiss to not share with you some of the positives from these tests: First and foremost were the results we received from our Government EOC, where I am thrilled to report that North High ranked 2nd in the entire St. Louis Metropolitan area behind only Metro Classical High School! The hard work of our teachers: Mr. and Mrs. Parker, Mr. Odenwald and Mr. Stockmann, coupled with the tenacity of the Class of 2017, is to be commended for this amazing performance. In regards to our English II EOC results, FZN scored higher than 90.2% of all high school in the state of Missouri and had the 3rd highest scores of any high school in St. Charles County. Meanwhile, our Algebra 1, Algebra II and Biology scores were both in the middle of the pack for our county. Data such as this validates much of the hard work that is going on at FZN, while also making us even hungrier to continue to grow and improve. Your students deserve the very best and we hope to provide that to them. Additionally, our boys Cross Country team, Football team and girls Volleyball team all captured Conference Titles this fall and are beginning to look towards post season competition. The boys cross county team: lead by Hunter Boker (2nd), Chris Allensworth (3rd), Jerald Caldwell (4th) and Sean Deeken (5th) rolled over the rest of the field at the GAC Central Championship in route to their 2nd consecutive conference title. (Pictured above: Our GAC-Central Champion Boys Cross Country Team) Not to be outdone, our varsity girls volleyball team is in the midst of a season like no other in the history of Fort Zumwalt North. The girls currently sport a record of 23-4-1 and have consistently been ranked as one of the area s best teams by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Pictured above: a pre-game pic of our Varsity Volleyball team) What s more, our Varsity Football team is off to another fantastic start with a record of 7-1 campaign. The boys wrapped up the conference championship with a win over cross-town rival Fort Zumwalt South, are winners of seven straight and enter district play as the #1 seed. For their efforts, the boys currently find themselves ranked 4th in the STATE in Class 5. Finally, and most importantly, as we have concluded the first quarter, please find and review the grade reports for your son or daughter that have either been included in this envelope or posted on parent portal. If you have any questions regarding these reports, please do not hesitate to contact the appropriate teacher and/or guidance counselor. Also, keep in mind that our National Honor Society offers free tutoring in a variety of academic subjects. If you believe that this could be helpful and you would like additional information, please contact our guidance office. Furthermore, be mindful that our school offers many other resources that may be helpful to students and parents. Please do not hesitate to seek advice from our administrators, crisis counselor, guidance counselors, school resource officer, financial aid coordinator, or any other staff member who may be able to assist you. Our goal is to provide support and services to families that will facilitate opportunities for all students to enjoy high school and beyond. In closing, I look forward to an exciting second quarter. Please know that if you ever have any questions or concerns that you can contact me at the number on the reverse side of this newsletter. As always, we will remain steadfast in our commitment to you and to your children! Sincerely, Joe Sutton Principal
