Landscaping Work US 41: Lee County DOT will be removing tree stumps on U.S. 41 from Alico Road to the Charlotte County line (except in the City of Fort Myers) as a moving operation. This work will occur on Fridays through July or on days equipment is available. Motorists should use caution as equipment and workers will be present in the work zone. ITS Maintenance: Lee County DOT will perform overhead work at the intersections below: U.S. 41 at Stella Street June 20, 2018, weather permitting Fowler Street at Stella Street June 20, 2018, weather permitting The overhead work will require a single lane closure while the crew is present. Motorists should use caution as there will be a static 500 work zone and traffic will be transitioned from two lanes down to one lane while the crew is on site. Installing two turn lanes for the Magnolia Landing Subdivision: FDOT along with the contractor will be installing turn lanes for the Magnolia Landing Subdivision in North Fort Myers. One turn lane is on the median side of the NB lanes, and the other is on the median side of the SB lane. For the SB turn lane work area, the lane closure will be from Magnolia Landing Lane to the North for 1,000 ft. For the NB turn lane work area, the lane closure will be from Magnolia Landing Lane to the South for 600 ft. This project will include intermittent lane closures from Tuesday 06/19/18 thru Thursday 06/21/18 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists are urged to use extra caution in this area. Road Work/Maintenance/Improvements: ATMS Phase 2 Project Advanced Traffic Management System State Road 80/Palm Beach Boulevard: SICE/Y-COM/C&E (Systems Integration Technology Company) is currently installing infrastructure by trenching directional bores for the ATMS System along the north and south side of SR 80 (Palm Beach Boulevard) at various locations from West of New York Avenue to Underwood Drive, and Freemont Street to Seaboard Street. Crews will be working from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with periodic lane closures on both sides of SR 80. This project will be ongoing through the end of June, 2018. Lee County RWA Week of June 18, 2018 Estero Boulevard Construction refresh Estero Boulevard/Waterlines Lovers Lane to Albatross Street. Contractors for Fort Myers Beach and Lee County are installing new water main, and sanitary sewer force main, storm drainage, sidewalk and rebuilding roadway on Estero Boulevard from Lovers Lane to Albatross Street. Motorists may experience daytime and nighttime intermittent one-lane traffic on Estero Boulevard. Flaggers will alternate traffic frequently, but motorists should expect delays. Crews are expected to work Monday through Friday and most Saturdays. Segment 2 - Lovers Lane to Albatross Street: Lovers Lane to just south of Donora Boulevard - Northbound traffic is shifted to the center lane. South of Donora Boulevard to Bay Mar Drive Monday, June 18, and Tuesday, June 19, weather permitting, the center lane will close and crews will shift northbound traffic to the bay side from south of Donora Boulevard to Bay Mar Drive. Crews will install the barrier wall and begin digging the center lane drainage system. Barrier wall will separate the northbound and southbound lanes. Motorists should expect to make U-turns when accessing properties on the opposite side of the road from the travel lane. Motorists exiting side streets between Voorhis Street and Bay Mar Drive must make right turns onto Estero Boulevard and then make a U-turn. Bay Mar Drive to Strandview Avenue - Northbound traffic is shifted to the center lane. Segment 3 and 4 Strandview Avenue to Albatross Street: Strandview Avenue to Madera Road Northbound traffic is shifted to the center lane. Madera Road to Williams Drive Beginning Monday, June 18, weather permitting, the southbound lane will close and crews will shift southbound traffic to the center lane and northbound traffic to the bay side from Madera Road to Williams Drive.
Williams Drive to Flamingo Street Northbound traffic is shifted to the center lane while crews install sanitary sewer force main on the bay side of Estero Boulevard. Fort Myers Villas: Lee County DOT will be performing drainage improvement work in Fort Myers Villas beginning April 30, 2018. This project will be ongoing for many months. During the process, there may be traffic inconveniences. Lee County will provide the required MOT and will have personnel on hand to help control traffic. The starting point for this project will be on Woodland Boulevard at the intersection of Austin Street, and work will continue to the north in sections to Crystal Drive. Frontage Road near the intersection of Cypress Lake Drive and Furman Blvd - Construction Project: As part of Lee County Utilities Capital Improvement Projects, crews are installing a new water main across the frontage road near Furman Blvd, which will require a total closure of approximately 50 of frontage road. Homestead Road from south of Sunrise Boulevard to north of Alabama Road: Construction Project: This project consists of widening Homestead Road to four lanes. This work will also improve drainage and install new underground utilities. A six-foot sidewalk will be constructed on both sides of the roadway. Motorists should expect lane closures during daytime hours. Project cost is $14.4 million. The contractor is Stevens and Layton, Inc. The project is expected to be complete by the end of 2019. Page Park Water Main Replacement Phase 1 Lee County Utilities Page Park Water Main Replacement Phase I from Danley Drive/Airport Road at 6 th Street east to Metro Parkway and north to Idlewild Street. Contractors for Lee County Utilities continue water main improvements for the Page Park neighborhood. Some driveways will be temporarily closed but businesses and residences will have access throughout the project. Some sidewalks may be closed during the project. This schedule may be subject to change due to inclement weather and unforeseen underground conditions. Crews are working near the roadway. Drivers and pedestrians should use caution.
