FINAL GAME THIS WEEKEND FROM THE HEAD OF SPORT This weekend ALL teams are travelling out to Runcorn to play a full round of games against traditional rivals St. Laurence s College (Please see the schedules below). This is the final round of the 2015 season and is shaping up to be an exciting round of sport as for the first time this season the majority of our matches will be held at the one venue. St. Laurence s College is celebrating its 100 th year anniversary and as it is also our 75 th year celebration it is very fitting that our two colleges, who have been great rivals for so long, should meet in the final round of competition. SLC have made great improvements to their rugby this year and their football program continues to be strong so all of our teams are facing a big battle this weekend to ensure we finish off the season in style. There are numerous premierships in contention on Saturday so good luck to all teams. We are looking forward to all students experiencing the atmosphere of a full day of AIC competition, especially our Year 7 and 8 students who have not been a part of this yet. Support for all teams will be crucial and all students are reminded about the usual expectations for supporting and wearing the correct uniform RESILIENCE I spoke on assembly two weeks ago about how sport can teach us many lessons in general but, particularly, that it can teach us to build resilience. Whether it is a big game that decides the premiership or your team is unexpectedly under pressure it is those teams that show resilience and weather the storm that come out on top. This quality of resilience was lacking in some of our teams at the start of the year but we have made great progress across the season with some outstanding team performances that have showed great character in times of difficulty on the sporting field. The 1 st XV team epitomized this trait on the weekend with their exciting victory over St. Patrick s. The last round of sport against St. Patrick s College was another strong performance from all Ashgrove teams with many big results for our teams. All boys are asked to step up their efforts another notch to ensure Ashgrove finish off the season in our usual manner. Good luck to all teams for the final round!

WET WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENTS Despite the best efforts of the sports department to push for games to be played where possible, it is inevitable that the weather will cause some games and training to be cancelled. Parents and students are encouraged to follow MCA Secondary Sports on twitter for the most up to date announcements regarding training and games. This can be accessed by both the internet and via most telephones and I encourage all parents and students to sign up and follow MCA Secondary Sport as this will be the first place that any announcements will be made regarding wet weather notices. Those with an iphone or similar can download the twitter app and receive instant updates directly to their phones free of charge. I encourage all parents and boys to visit the College web site and follow the links which explain how to create your own twitter account and follow us. http://twitter.com/mcaseniorsport PLEASE NOTE: boys/families should not assume that games are cancelled. If no notification has been given, players should attend their scheduled matches as usual.

The camp will focus on team building and race strategies for the upcoming AIC Championships in early August.
