Horizon League Game GREEN BAY LOOKS TO EVEN LEAGUE RECORD SATURDAY After suffering its first home loss of the season, Green Bay will look to bounce back and even its Horizon League record at 1-1 on Saturday against Youngstown State. Saturday s game will be the last Horizon League contest for the Phoenix until a Dec. 30 meeting on the road with Detroit. In Thursday s Horizon League opener, Green Bay got 22 points from senior Bryquis Perine but could not overcome a 10-for-14 three-point shooting performance from Cleveland State in an 83-75 loss. Freshman Alec Brown scored a career-high 15 points for the Phoenix in his first conference game. Two areas where Green Bay excelled against CSU were turnovers and rebounding. The Phoenix committed just nine turnovers in the game while outrebounding the Vikings 34-27. Sophomore Troy Snyder added a team-high seven rebounds to his 13 points to lead Green Bay s rebounding work. Youngstown State also dropped its league opener, falling at Milwaukee 76-67 despite 18 points from senior Vytas Sulskis. The 6-foot-7 Sulskis is second in the Horizon League in scoring with an average of 17.2 points per game. The Phoenix swept three games against Youngstown State a season ago, including two wins at the Resch Center. The last meeting was an 81-67 Green Bay win in the 2010 Horizon League Tournament. Green Bay defeated Miami (Nov. 21) after trailing by five at halftime and defeated NDSU (Nov. 27) despite a nine-point second half deficit. Fletcher scored 18 of his 23 points after halftime against Miami and 10 points in the first five minutes of the second half against State. In the two wins, Perine averaged nine points in the final five minutes of the games. He hit his last six shots against NDSU, including the game-winner. LIGHT UP OHIO Senior Rahmon Fletcher had a strong stretch of play in Green Bay s three games in Oxford. Fletcher averaged 19 points per game and had 11 steals. He enters Saturday s game having made 16 of his last 19 shots from the field. I LL TAKE THAT Fletcher currently has 163 steals in his Phoenix career. In the past three games, he has passed current college coaches Gary Grzesk and Tony Bennett for fourth all-time. His five steals against Miami tied his career high and tied for the ninth-most in school history. Fletcher has 13 steals in six games this season, ranking second in the league behind only Cleveland State s Norris Cole. BAKER THE PLAYMAKER Junior college transfer Steve Baker currently leads the Phoenix in rebounding despite standing at just 6-foot-2. Baker hit both of his three-point attempts against NDSU and was the only Green Bay player to hit a three. BROWN S BLOCK PARTY Freshman Alec Brown has 13 blocks in six games, ranking second in the HL. His block total is already the fifth-highest in school history for a freshman. Brown had six blocks in his college debut, just one shy of the program s single-game record of seven set by Nate Barnes against Northern Iowa on Dec. 11, 1982. START IT UP Brian Wardle has used three different starting lineups this season. Troy Snyder (three games), Jarvis Williams (two games) and Daniel Turner (one game) have all started at the four. Turner started his first college game on Saturday against NDSU and grabbed five rebounds. Fletcher, Perine, Baker and Brown have each started all seven games for the Phoenix. IT S ABOUT PERCENTAGES Despite getting off to a 14-for-33 start this season, Fletcher ranks 10th in the league in field goal percentage (50.0). Fletcher is shooting 54.5 percent (30-55) over the past four games. GREEN BAY ROSTER No. Name Pos. Yr. Ht. Wt. Notes 0 Bryquis Perine G Sr. 6-3 170 Milwaukee, Wis.
