2018-2019 John Jay High School Ski and Snowboard Club Important Information for all Skiers & Parents Ski Club members must be John Jay High School students in good standing that are ACADEMICALLY ELIGIBLE to participate and are interested in skiing or snowboarding. All JJHS & WCSD Code of Conduct Rules apply to all students while on these trips. Transportation Transportation to and from the slopes will be on rented coaches which all students must ride. Adult supervision will be provided. All ski club members are required to bring a check for $140 to cover transportation expenses for all ski trips to be collected on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14TH. This guarantees him/her a seat on the bus for all three trips. There are NO refunds for this payment for any reason. We have a contractual and financial commitment to pay for this transportation whether you attend this trip or not. There is an additional fee for each trip for the lift tickets. See Ski Club agenda for that cost as it changes form trip to trip. Checks are to be made payable to: John Jay Student Accounts Ski Club sign-ups and money collection will be held in the cafeteria lobby after school on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14TH, at 2:30pm. There will be no refunds unless the trip is cancelled and not rescheduled. Lift Fees Money for lift tickets will be collected prior to departure of each trip by chaperones. Please bring the exact amount (correct bills, no change required, no coins) for each trip. No checks will be accepted, CASH ONLY PLEASE. Equipment The JJHS Ski Club does NOT handle equipment rentals! Members should buy or rent equipment at local ski shops. Rentals at the mountain can be expensive and time consuming. We feel the time at the mountain should be spent enjoying the sport, not waiting in the rental line. We REQUIRE ALL students to wear HELMETS! Departure & Arrival All trips will depart from and return to the High School Auditorium parking lot. Please be at John Jay a HALF HOUR before the departure time. We will depart for Jiminy Peak at 1PM, and depart for Gore, Okemo, and/or Mt. Snow at 5:45AM. WE WILL LEAVE WITHOUT YOU IF YOU ARE NOT PRESENT AT THE SCHEDULED DEPARTURE TIME. In the case if inclement weather, please listen to Friday afternoon announcements and check the school s or the ski club s website for information. Parents should be prompt on picking up their child. Parents should be waiting at the school at approximately 11:00 pm for the Jiminy Peak trip, and at 7:30PM for the other trips.

Your child will be told to contact you when we are a half hour away from the school in order to further advise return times. Please ensure that your child dresses appropriately! It's always colder on the mountain so have them dress in layers with all necessary equipment (i.e. warm ski gloves, hat, face shield, scarf, winter coat, ski pants, etc.) Parental Permission & Medical Release Form All Ski Club Members are required to give John Jay Ski Club a COPY of their medical insurance card in case of injury during the trip. Parents (or guardians) MUST sign a Parental Permission & Medical Release Form allowing a student to attend any and all ski trips of the JJHS Ski Club. One signed form is valid for the season. The form enables the adult chaperones to accompany an injured student to the nearest medical facility to be treated by qualified medical personnel. The typical procedure is: 1.) Student is taken to the first aid on the mountain. 2.) The patient is assessed by medical personnel. 3.) The parent is called for notification and description of injuries, course of treatment, payment via credit card if student needs treatment at medical facility. 4.) Student is transported (when needed) to hospital with chaperone accompanying student. Or, student (if ambulatory) goes home on bus they came on.
