More on the Banquet to follow. From The Presidential Garage By John Ulrich It s difficult to comprehend I m beginning the second year of a job I thought I d never hold. There have been times when a grassroots movement to impeach me would have been welcome, but most days, I m extremely proud to serve as your president. The Annual Awards Banquet was delightful. Good food at a price we could live with, and a beautifully decorated country club all to ourselves. We all owe Brad Swiggart a debt of gratitude for being the Mover and Shaker of If you haven t gone on the Flatwater Website and set up a password, please do so. I am guilty of not being as tech savvy as I should be given it is 2016, but we would like to move the club toward the goal of using the website and the primary means of communication, information, and club promotion. In the future, the newsletter as we know it will cease to exist, and be replaced by the same information and content, but delivered instantly on the web. It will also allow members to post

pictures and communicate with the club even though they may be reluctant to write an article for a formal newsletter. I m happy to report that the garage project is nearly complete on the inside. The exterior brick may be done by Spring if we get enough warm days before then. You ll know when moving day comes, because I ll put out an SOS. I understand that pizza and cold beverages work wonders, and move mountains. See you on the road. Awards Banquet A Winner Another cold day greeted the attendees of the FAHC Awards Banquet. Fortunately, the cheerful environment and a cash bar warmed our spirits. Again Hillcrest Country Club did not disappoint with food and hospitality. Again, thanks to Brad Swiggart for hammering out a deal with the Country Club. Awards and door prizes were plentiful. Thanks to Terry Worick Restorations, Economy and Performance Motors, and Randy at MicVIcker Auto Trim for their major contributions. This year nine members earned One Thousand Mile Club status. Those members were: Paul Johanek, Brad Swiggart, Phil Brauer, Jack Jessen, Bruce Cratty, John Martin, Michael Gregg, John O Brien and John Ulrich. It is probable that the list should have been longer. Please turn in your miles for the recccognition you deserve. There were no Five Thousand Mile Club recipients this year. Brad Swiggart, Phil Brauer, and Paul Johanek missed that status by only a few tanks of gas. However, Joe Kueper and Mike Grieco achieved the Ten Thousand Mile goal. The Farthest Distance From Home award went to Chuck Wise by virtue of the 1,389 mile drive to Stowe, Vermont. A grand total of 17,267 miles earned Jim Danielson the Cumulative Distance award. That MGC roadster and MGC-GT sure covered some ground last year. When you go to an event and sign in, you are actually competing for the Enthusiast of the Year award. When last year s points were totaled, Jim Danielson was the winner. Although Jim got the plaque, there were several members with impressive totals. Thanks to all who support Flatwater events throughout the year. Your participation is appreciated.

A couple of postscripts to this story are in order. First, in past years the banquet alternated between Lincoln and Omaha. If you would like to see that return, please feel free to explore venues in Omaha. Right now the problem is finding a private room, with a sub $30 dinner, and NO room charge. You can contact any officer if you think you ve found a suitable location. We welcome your input. Lastly, if there was a down side to the banquet, it was the number of Yes RSVPs that didn t show up. Fortunately we had quite a few walk ins to help make up the difference. We have to guarantee Hillcrest a certain number of dinners, and the club treasury has to make up the difference if we don t reach that number. Of Special Interest To FAHC Members My name is Steve Kassed, My son, Randy Kassed is a member of the KCMGB car club. Randy Passed away last week, I and my wife are in Kansas city now to clear out his apartment and take care of his belongings, In his garage is a 1972 MGB GT with a Rover V-8 conversion. The car is registered and insured, and I have the title. Randy has built this car with all the best parts. It has a high performance suspension system, several extra engine blocks, pistons, turbo chargers, numerous chrome accessories, several sets of recently machined heads, all parts for a brand new interior, recently painted, and too many new, uninstalled parts too list. I have gone through some of his recently purchased parts and machine work, that seem to total 30k +, he has spent in the last 2 years. He had a minor accident recently that damaged the hood and r/fender, and has much of that damage has been repaired or has the parts to put it back together. I am trying to locate people local here that may have interest in buying these items, so I don't have to take all this back to Rhode Island. We are at the house everyday for the next couple days, packing everything up to move it out, and I would be happy to show this stuff to any one interested. Please forward my cell phone number to anyone you think may have any interest in these items. I thank you, in advance, for any help you could offer in this matter, in this difficult time for us. We are located in Lee s Summit, MO PS: Also for sale is a 2004 triumph motorcycle, recent engine rebuild, tons of brand new parts and accessories, installed or ready to install.it starts right up! Thanks Steve Kassed cell: 401-447-2509 call or text
