Top 10 MegaGate Questions 1) When: The 2011 MegaGate is a four day party that starts on Thursday, February 3 and ends with the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 6. See Schedule of Events for more details. 2) Where: Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada in the Brasilia Room (first level - here is a map of the hotel). 3) Why: Because we wanted to throw a kick ass Super Bowl party and run tournaments at the same time. 4) How do I sign up: Book your hotel ASAP. You can stay at the Rio by calling 888-746-6955 using code SRTAIL1. You can register for events online at MegaGate2011.com. Special product packages are available through BagToss.com. 5) What s in it for me? A lot of fun and a chance to win big money. If you have skills, you could win some bills. There will be tournaments and challenges with payouts to the winners. Highlight tournaments will have guaranteed prize money valued over $10,000. If you master the TG4 challenge, you have a chance to win $100,000. Must be 18 years old to win. 6) Is this a team event? Most of the tournaments will be teams of two except cornhole singles (see a list of the tournaments). We suggest you plan ahead and practice with your partner. If you don t have a partner, don t worry, there will be several people in the same boat. There will be time to team up with somebody. 7) What is the TG4 Challenge? The TG4 Challenge is one toss at Pole-ish Horseshoes and four tosses each at BT2 Bag Toss, WT2 Washer Toss and minibt2. Points are tallied to determine a score. A perfect score is 65pts. Win $100,000 for a perfect score or win $1,000 First Place, $500 Second Place, $250 Third Place. Points scoring are as follows: - Bag lands and remains on board = 1pt - Bag goes through and clears the round hole on the board = 3 pts - Bag goes through and clears the slot at the top of the board = 5pts
- Points scoring for MPH: Disc hits pole = 2 pts, disc hits the target = 4 pts, disc knocks the target off the pole = 1 pt (5pts max per toss) 8) What is the Mega Bowl Champion? Teams are awarded points based on how they finish in a tournament. Points are added from the team s best 4 game finishes. This cumulative total will determine your Mega Bowl ranking. Mega Bowl prizes will be awarded to the top 3 finishers (35%, 20%, 15% respectively), top co-ed team (15%) and top female team (15%). There will be $10k minimum payout. So this is really what you want to shoot for. 9) How much does it cost? Hotel will cost you $95/night. The ultimate MegaGater Package cost $300 per team or $150 per person (see additional details below). As an alternative, participants can register for any of the 8 Mega Gate tournaments. Entry fees are $50 per team per tournament ($25 per person) except for Bag Toss / Cornhole Singles which is $50 per person and Flip Cup which is $100 per team ($25 per person). On the Spot Tournament participation will be available with no preregistration required. 10) What is included in the Team MegaGater Package: The MegaGater Package is the best deal at $300/team because it includes: Team entry (2 people) into 4 Mega Bowl tournament game events. If both people want to play in the in the singles event, participation will count as two entries and can count towards your overall Mega Bowl team score. ($100 value per person or $200 per team) Entry into all game areas to play in additional game tournaments or open play. ($10 per person per day or $20 per team per day) Entry into the Thursday night Meet the Competition registration party. Entry into the Big Game viewing party on Sunday with 2 free drink tickets. ($50 value per person or $100 per team) Tailgater Rewards Goodie Bag (unlimited value) 2 entries into the TG4 Challenge. ($50 value per person, $100 value per team) Note: Single MegaGater Package available. You can register for tournaments at the event so you don t have to get this package. Schedule of Events Thursday, February 3 rd (6:00 PM 10:00 PM) Meet the Competition and Registration Party at McFadden's Las Vegas. Come claim your free drink and Tailgater Rewards Gift Bag at McFadden's. Enjoy Open Play & On the Spot Tournaments at McFadden s and at the Brasilia Ballroom located inside the Rio Hotel & Casino. Attendance is not required and open to the public for free. Late registration is contingent upon game tournament availability. The late registration fee will be $25 per person per MegaGate game tournament. Saturday, February 5 th (Night Session 7:00 PM 12:00 AM) Check-in at McFadden s starts at 7:00 PM for the Flip Cup tournament. The tournament will start at 7:30 PM. Open Play & On the Spot Tournaments for Beer Pong and other tailgating games will be available to participants and the public. Sunday, February 6 th Big Game Viewing Party and Mega Bowl Championship (11:00 AM Midnight) The 2011 MegaGate Mega Bowl Championship and Big Game Viewing Party will be held at the Crown Nightclub & Theater inside the Rio. The Crown boasts an 11,000 square foot venue that features a 50 foot stage and 360⁰ TV megatrons. Finals for four MegaGate tournaments (Cornhole Singles, BT2 Bag Toss, Beer Pong and Flip Cup) will be played and the Mega Bowl Champions will be announced. Tournament play starts at 11:30 AM. Big Game coverage, challenges, contests and other giveaways start at 1:30 PM. Be sure to get there early to maximize chances of winning awesome prizes. Ticket holders get a free chance to win $100,000 by playing in the TG4 Challenge. Four additional chances may be purchased for $50 each.
MegaGate Tournaments Most of the tournaments will be played in the 20,000sf BRASILIA Ballroom at the Rio. There are eight scheduled tournaments for the 2011 MegaGate. These tournaments are: BT2 Bag Toss / Cornhole Doubles Tournament: 2 person teams will play Bag Toss / Cornhole on American Tailgating League s 3x2 boards with a 5 point slot. Distance between boards will be 25 feet. Bag Toss / Cornhole Singles Tournament: Head-to-head competition on traditional 4x2 boards with a single 3 point hole. Distance between boards will be 27 feet. Washers: 2 person teams will play and compete from 10 feet apart on washer boards. Monkeyball: A specific version of Ladder Golf that has been played for years. 2 person teams will compete. Bocce Ball: 2 person teams will compete in this traditional lawn game that has been adapted for tailgating. It s time to get defensive. My Pole-ish Horseshoes: 2 person teams will compete in this agility disc game that is rapidly growing in popularity. Beer Pong: 2 person teams will enjoy a new version of Beer Pong using Pong Deck for added fun. Flip Cup: 4 person teams will compete in Flip Cup. If you don t have 4 people, you can match up in Vegas or we will do a blind match for you.
Tournaments will be double elimination unless otherwise noted at the event. Entry fees are $50 per team per tournament ($25 per person) except for Bag Toss / Cornhole Singles which is $50 per person and Flip Cup which is $100 per team ($25 per person). Tournament proceeds benefit the V Foundation for Cancer Research (10%). Remaining proceeds (90%) are paid out in cash prizes to top individual tournament finishers (75%) and top Mega Bowl finishers (15%). None of the tournament fees are allocated to running the event. The in the money cut for individual tournaments is approximately the top 25%. Mega Bowl prizes will be awarded to the top 3 overall finishers (35%, 20%, 15% respectively), top co-ed team (15%) and top female team (15%). Challenge Games In addition to the tailgating game tournaments, there will be carnival style challenges and contests of tailgating games. The current line-up includes: TG4 Challenge - $100,000 for a perfect score. The TG4 Challenge is one toss at Pole-ish Horseshoes and four tosses each at BT2 Bag Toss, WT2 Washer Toss and minibt2. The further the distance, the more you can win. How far can you toss a bag? Mark Pryor will be there to show you how to hit a 100ft shot. Max Point Challenge How many points can you get with 8 bags? Challenge will be played on the BT2 boards with the 5 point slot. Maximum possible score is 40pts. Other Challenges will be announced leading up to the event. Mega Bowl Champions The Mega Bowl celebrates the best of the 2011 MegaGate event and crowns the best overall tailgating teams. How do you win? Participation in each one of the tournaments will add to your total score, however only a team s best 4 game finishes will count towards the Mega Bowl ranking. A team is
awarded points based on how it finishes in a tournament. So if your team plays in all 8 tournaments, only the best 4 will count towards your overall Mega Bowl ranking. Some individual tournament finals will be played on Sunday at the Crown Nightclub and the Mega Bowl winners will be honored at the event. Mega Bowl prizes will be awarded to the top 3 overall finishers (35%, 20%, 15% respectively), top co-ed team (15%) and top female team (15%). Big Game Day Party - Super Bowl The Big Game Day Party is at the Crown Nightclub inside the Rio Hotel & Casino on Sunday February 6, 2010. The Crown boasts an 11,000 square foot venue that features a 50-foot stage, state of the art sound and lighting system, and a circular layout with a 360 degree view of megatron TVs from which we will broadcast the Mega Bowl championship tournaments and the Super Bowl. The Big Game Day Party will include other indoor entertainment and activities throughout the day. Admission to the Big Game Day Party is included in the MegaGater Package. For individuals and spectators who wish to join the fun there are two payment options: $50 per person entry into event $100 per person includes tailgating food and 2 drink tickets
