Rita s Italian Ice LN Student-Athlete of the Week Rita s is located at 8910 East 96 th Street, just north of the intersection of 96 th and Sargent Road. Caroline Salvas, Golf and Derin McCulley, Football This week we would like to recognize sophomore golfer Carolyn Salvas, and junior football player Derin McCulley. Salvas shot an 86 at the IHSAA sectional to lead the Wildcats and qualified individually to the IHSAA regional this Saturday at The Edge Golf Course in Anderson. Way to go, Caroline! Grip it and rip it at the regional! McCulley has played steady all year at the QB position for the Wildcats. In the Carmel game, he threw for 150 yards and ran for almost another 100 yards. Keep it up, Derin!
Cheerleading/Student Fans: This Friday night for the Ben Davis game will be a Red Out for Riley so be sure to wear your LN red spirit wear! The cheerleaders will be collecting donations during the game to support this great organization!
Cross Country: The XC teams participated in the Yorktown Invitational over the weekend. The boys team repeated as team champions, with Matt Reid and Kenny Arnold coming through big time for the Cats. Maddie Loughery took the individual championship for the girls, and Gabby Grider ran a personal best time. Great job, Wildcats! The teams will be racing in the MIC conference championship meet this Saturday at Ben Davis.
Football: The Wildcats (2-3, 0-3 MIC) lost to Carmel 38-14. After a rough start, the Cats got things going in the second half and played much better, despite several injuries on both sides of the ball. The team will battle #1 Ben Davis (5-0, 3-0 MIC) at home on Friday night. The game will be a RED OUT to support Riley Children s Hospital, so be sure to wear your Wildcat red spirit wear.
Girls Golf: The LN golfers finished the season placing 7 th at the IHSAA sectional. The team was led by Caroline Salvas with an 86 and Gigi Rowland with a 90. Salvas qualified for regionals and will be playing The Edge Golf Course in Anderson on Saturday. Boys Soccer: The soccer team (2-8-2, 0-6-1 MIC) lost to Lawrence Central, Center Grove, and Pendleton Heights. They host HSE on Thursday night and then host the first round of the Marion County tournament on Monday against Park Tudor. The LN soccer team is introducing a long standing soccer tradition to Lawrence North. The team will be selling the inaugural LN Wildcat scarf to show your LN pride! Price is $15 and they will be on sale at home LN soccer games.
Girls Soccer: The girls team (5-6-3, 4-2-1 MIC) beat Lawrence Central, lost to Center Grove, and then traveled to Marion for a 2-0 win, beating the Giants in a hard fought game that ended their 8-game win streak. It was a great way to end the regular season! The team is preparing for the Marion County tournament which starts at home on Monday against Park Tudor. The boys play at 5:30pm with the girls to follow.
Boys Tennis: The tennis team got rained out against Westfield, and then participated in the MIC championships, finishing in 3 rd place! Great job, netters! They have also picked up two wins in the Marion County tournament over Perry Meridian and Warren Central. The team now stands at 7-5 on the year and take on North Central in the semi-finals of the Marion County tournament on Thursday.
Volleyball: The volleyball team (7-10, 3-2 MIC) lost to state ranked opponents New Castle, Carmel, and Center Grove. They look to bounce back with a home game on Thursday against Mt. Vernon and then travel to the Muncie Central tournament on Saturday.
