I hope to see you all at the next meeting. The Estacada Annual Coin Shoot & Prospecting Show went very well. We had a lot of fun. There were 28 hunters this year, almost double from last year. More Information at the Meeting. At the Molalla River Outing 13 people showed up and 10 of them got Color. More Information at the Meeting. I have been in contact with Larry Jensen of the Estacada Fire Department about a Basic First Aid class for the club. More Information at the Meeting. Remember to bring your Gold Pans to the meeting. Glad you all could join us. May meeting minutes in newsletter accepted as posted. Bev Parker (Treasurer) - Read Treasure s Report. Report accepted as read, (see report) REPORTS Robert Cadwell (Club Claims) Richard and Robert have been tied up and not able to file on the TROY claim yet. Robert has membership cards; new people need to attend 3 functions combination of meetings and or functions to receive one. When you sign in Please print clearly, include your email address if you have one! This way we can send you the club newsletter by email. For your new club cards please see Robert. Books for new members are $5.00 any mailing or e-mail changes, please note them on the sign in sheet. Robert Wedding (GPAA Claims Mgr.) - Another new chapter started up in Albany. If going to one of the GPAA claims remember to file a report Eli Nicholson (Outings) All GPAA outing Roseburg June 22 nd on COW Creek, Meet at Roseburg s McDonalds 8:00 am then caravan in. Molalla River outing June 28 th, Meet at McDonalds at intersection 211 & 213 8:00 AM Oregon Gold trips Work Outing July 24 th July 27 th. If you know your way in can come on the 23 rd, otherwise meet at the Round table Pizza Place in Rogue River. Noon or 6PM?? $20/person. Will be working 1 day the rest will be mining. Includes a common with the trommel running. Molalla River weekend outing August 2 nd & 3rd, Meet Saturday August 2nd at McDonalds at intersection 211 & 213 8:00 AM Sept Mike Malloy s Claim on the Klamath River, California. Mike will have Maps between the July and August meetings. Still time to sign up. Noted that if in the water for an extended amount of time need to make sure to clean ears. Also do not mess with the Blue foam you may see in the river it is toxic. Preston gave a brief discussion on what was needed. Richard would be talking to Estacada fire department to see if they would be willing to come to one of our meetings for first aid training, CPR. Ken Burns (Equipment Mgr.) - Call Ken Burns if needing to borrow club equipment Curt Barnes (Website) - Richard reported it was up and running. www.portlandgoldprospectors.org and see for yourself. We would like to see more folks using / commenting / responding in the forum it is there for your use. Newsletter - (Richard Ruth) - should be out the Friday before the 3 rd Sunday of the month meeting. Old Business Southern Oregon Gold Show (Richard Ruth) - Show went well, 983 people the 1 st day. We plan to do it again next year. Work day at Oregon Gold Trips (Penny Parsons) - If you know your way in can come on the 23 rd, otherwise meet at the Round table Pizza Place in Rogue River. Noon or 6PM?? $20/person. Will be working 1 day the rest will be mining. Includes a common with the trommel running. Estacada Coin Shoot (Penny Parsons) Registration to start at 7:30 1st hunt at 9, So far 16 pre registered. New Business Safety Person (Richard Ruth) Announced Preston resigned as Safety person. Wines Camp Work Party July 24-27 Penny 503-310-3962 $20.00 per person for food. 1 days work will get you 3 days of mining. Clearing roads, moving green trammel, finishing new bath House, putting up two walls in the lodge. Painting bedrooms. Driving directions. Take I-5 to exit 48 (city of rouge river) turn east (turn left if coming form the north). Go over the railroad tracks and turn left. Abbys Pizza will be on the left after the 4 way stop. From Abby s drive 7.1 miles to Evans Depot (a gas stations and mini mart) turn left and drive to Dixie Gulch Road (about 2 miles) (watch for mailbox with a US Flag painted on it). Turn left onto Dixie Gulch Rd. drive about 5 miles up to Wines Camp. There are 3 Y in the road, 1 st stay left, 2 nd stay right 3 rd stay left. You will come to the gate which will be closed. Please close the gate after yourself. Girls Gem Crystal Claim This is a permission slip to use the Girls gem crystal claim for 2008. This permission is for members of the Portland Gold Prospectors Inc. only. This is not open to everyone. Please have your Club card on you. There is a large metal screen leaning on a tree next to the Pit. Please leave It there for the next person to use when you are done with it. Directions. From Baker City, take hwy 7 towards Sumter. Turn left onto 1145 road (Black Mt. Rd) This road crosses the Mason Dam. Drive this road to the intersection with 1150. (you will have crossed 4 cattle guards.) (there is a sign on the 1150 that says Herford 11 miles). Turn left on to the 1150 drive.4 (4 tenths) of a mile to a meadow. Good camping in the meadow. At the back of the meadow is a large pine tree. You will notice a path of small trees this used to be an old road. We have Yellow road and some white w/pink rope making the path. Have Fun, Please let me know if you go up there and what you found just for my own information.
