Skills Canada BC 2019 Provincial Competition April 17, 2019 (Tradex - Abbotsford, BC) Skills Canada BC s 2019 Provincial Competition will be held on April 17, 2019 at the Tradex, in Abbotsford, BC. More than 600 students and apprentices will compete in 60 competition areas including: aerospace, automotive, 3D Animation, electrical, baking, welding, robotics, 3-D amination and much more! Skills Canada BC competitions add excitement and a cool factor to students considering apprenticeship in trades and technology careers. Skills Canada BC sponsorship provides exceptional opportunities to connect with the next generation of workers and apprentices. Students Grades 6 12, post-secondary students and apprentices compete amid a backdrop of thousands of middle and high school students, parents, educators, industry leaders, technical experts, labour organizations and government who attend this annual event. Skills Canada BC provides opportunities for thousands of students to watch the competitors in action, participate in a Try-a-Trade activity, visit the Pathways to Careers Showcase or participate in the Women in Trades and Technology Conference runs concurrent to the provincial competition. Skills Canada BC s In-School INSPIRE Program Skills Canada BC will continue to deliver Inspire its groundbreaking classroom program to thousands of British Columbian students, Grade 6 10, throughout 2019. In 2018 Skills Canada BC introduced the Inspire program to more than 18,000 students in 21 school districts. In 2019, the Inspire Program will be expanded into even more classrooms, in more communities, province-wide. Inspire s one-hour classroom workshop format provides an excellent first step for students to explore skilled trades and technology careers through fun and thoughtprovoking hands-on activities.
