THE COACHES MIKE TOMLIN was named the 16th head coach in Pittsburgh Steelers history on Jan. 22, 2007. Hired at the age of 34, Tomlin became only the third head coach hired by the Steelers since 1969. Tomlin became the youngest head coach in NFL history to both coach in and win a Super Bowl when he led the Steelers to a 27-23 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII. By winning the Super Bowl in only his second season as a head coach, he also became the fastest to win a Super Bowl title in Steelers history. In Tomlin s first five years as head coach, he guided the Steelers defense to the NFL s top ranking in total defense three times. He has also sent a total of 36 selections to the league s annual Pro Bowl, including five following the 2011 season. Tomlin has reached the playoffs four times in his first five seasons, including two trips to the Super Bowl (winning Super Bowl XLIII). Tomlin is one of only seven coaches in league history to win a Super Bowl within his first two seasons as an NFL head coach. Tomlin is the only head coach in Steelers history to lead the team to two Super Bowls in his first four seasons at the helm, including an appearance against the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV. He is one of only two Steelers head coaches to win three division titles in his first four seasons. Tomlin has compiled a 62-32 record in the regular season during his head coaching career. Tomlin reached 60 regularseason wins in 88 games, tying Chuck Knox (88) for the fourthfewest games to reach 60 career victories among coaches who began their career since 1970. In 2011, Tomlin led the Steelers to a 12-4 record, marking the second straight season the team has posted 12 wins, which marks only the second time in team history it has been achieved. The Steelers finished the 2011 season with the top-ranked total defense (271.8 ypg) and scoring defense (14.2 ppg). Pittsburgh posted a 7-1 record at home in 2011, upping his record at Heinz Field in his five seasons as head coach to 31-9. The Steelers finished second in total defense under Tomlin s guidance in 2010, allowing only 276.8 yards per game. Pittsburgh led the NFL and set a team record in rushing defense, yielding only 62.8 yards per game (1,004 yards), the third-best total in NFL history dating back to 1970. The Steelers also established an NFL record in 2010 by not allowing an opponent to rush for more than 75 yards in any of their first eight games during the regular season. In all, the Steelers defense led the NFL in 2010 in rushing yards allowed, points allowed (232), touchdowns (22), quarterback sacks (48), rushing average (3.0), yards per play (4.5) and yards allowed on first down (4.08). Tomlin was a three-year starter at wide receiver at William and Mary (1990-94) and finished his career with 101 receptions for 2,054 yards and 20 TD catches. A first-team All-Yankee Conference selection in 1994, he established a school record with a 20.2 yards-per-catch average. MARVIN LEWIS is in his 10th season as Bengals head coach the longest tenure in franchise history. Lewis entered the 2012 season with the most wins in franchise history (69). Last season Lewis led the Bengals to a 9-7 record and Wild Card Playoff berth. Lewis guided the Bengals to a 10-6 record and the AFC North Division championship in 2009. He earned the major share of Coach of the Year awards, winning the flagship Associated Press honor (given annually since 1957) while also getting nods from Sports Illustrated and Pro Football Weekly/Pro Football Writers Association. The Bengals were unbeaten in division play (6-0) in 2009 for the first time in franchise history. CELEBRATING 80 SEASONS This season marks the 80 th in Steelers history and the team is celebrating its tremendous fan base. Below are a few of many events that are occuring to celebrate 80 years of Steelers football. My Pittsburgh Steelers On April 2, the Steelers gave fans a special opportunity to have their image appear on Steelers tickets during the 2012 season during the 80 th season celebration, The Year of the Fan. Starting on April 2 and running through April 20, fans were able to submit a 15- second video to Steelers.com saying their three words about, My Pittsburgh Steelers. On April 28th, 10 lucky fans were chosen to be on the face of Steelers tickets: Chris Pittman, Steve Harrison, Angelo Cammarata, Deb Neil, Benjamin and Brian Neas, Andre L. Brown, Quinn Hoerner, Theodore M. Broadnax, The Dearing Family, Mark and Corey Christofel. Throwback Jerseys As part of the 80th Season celebration the Steelers wore new throwback jerseys against the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens this season. The Steelers chose the 1934 jersey as the new throwback because it was a unique part of Steelers history, and it was a uniform that had not been worn since that season. Terrible Towel Wall/Steelers Fan Blitz The Terrible Towel Wall was unveiled on April 27 in the FedEx Great Hall at Heinz Field. The wall not only celebrates Steelers history but the legacy of the towel itself. 80 th Season Celebration Weekend (November 17-18) The Saturday evening before the Steelers played the Baltimore Ravens, Heinz Field hosted the 2012 Taste of the Steelers event, which was dedicated to the 80 th Season Celebration Game. The event featured players from most decades in the 80-year history of the Steelers. The alumni were also honored during halftime of Pittsburgh s Sunday night game against Baltimore. Immaculate Reception Monument In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the most memorable play in NFL history, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Senator John Heinz History Center, in conjunction with Allegheny Technologies Incorporated (ATI), will be unveiling an Immaculate Reception monument near Heinz Field during a special ceremony on Saturday, December 22, the day prior to the 40 th anniversary of the play and the Steelers game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Heinz Field. WHAT TO LOOK FOR PITTSBURGH TEAM NOTES Pittsburgh is looking to win the final two regular-season games for the fourth season in a row. If the Steelers win they will sweep the season series with Cincinnati for the eighth time since 2000, the fifth time under Head Coach Mike Tomlin and the third-straight season overall. If Pittsburgh wins this Sunday it would be the Steelers sixth consecutive victory over the Bengals and their longest winning streak against Cincinnati since the Steelers won eight in a row between 1991 and 1994. Pittsburgh is looking to improve to 53-32 against the Bengals, including 29-14 in Pittsburgh. The Steelers are looking for the 599th win in franchise history (including the postseason) to make them one shy of becoming the fourth team in NFL history, and first AFC team, to reach 600 wins. Pittsburgh is hoping to hold its 10th opponent this season (eighth in the last 10 games) to 20 points or less. Pittsburgh is looking to improve to 404-257-2 during the regular season since 1970. The Steelers defense is looking to keep their 11th opponent to under 100 net yards rushing this season. If Pittsburgh holds Cincinnati to less than 180 net passing yards it will mark the 10th time this season the Steelers did not allow their opponent to register at least 180 net passing yards. Pittsburgh s defense will try and hold the opposing quarterback to a passer rating of 90.0 or less for the 11th time this season. The Steelers defense is looking to register at least one takeaway for the 12th game this season. Pittsburgh is looking to record its fourth individual 100-yard rushing performance of the season for the first time since Willie Parker (4) and Mewelde Moore (1) combined for five 100+ yard rushing games in 2008. PITTSBURGH INDIVIDUAL NOTES Head Coach Mike Tomlin If Pittsburgh wins, will improve to 63-32 during the regular season, including 36-11 at home and 10-2 against Cincinnati. Is looking to improve to 5-1 in Week 16 games. If the Steelers win, they will be 5-2 at home this season, marking the sixth consecutive year they have recorded at least five home wins during the regular season under Head Coach Mike Tomlin. If the Steelers win, will improve to 18-10 in regular-season games in December/January. QB Ben Roethlisberger Looking to improve to 87-38 as a starter during the regular season. If the Steelers win, Roethlisberger will improve to 24-11 as a starter in the month of December. Is 89 yards shy of recording his seventh consecutive 3,000+ yard passing season (2006-11). Looking to record at least three touchdown passes for the fourth time this season, marking the second most times he has thrown for at least three touchdowns in one season (5 in 2007 and 2009) If he throws at least one touchdown pass he will extend his career best by throwing at least one touchdown in the first 12 games he has played this season. Looking to record a passer rating of 120.0+ for the fourth time this season, which would tie for the second most times he has registered a passer rating of at least 120.0 in the same regular season (four in 2004 / five in 2009). Is looking to throw for at least 360 yards for the third time this season, which would tie (2011, 3) for the second most times he has thrown for at least 360 yards in one season (2009, 4). Needs 510 passing yards to reach 30,000 for his career. Looking to start his 125th career game during the regular season. RB Jonathan Dwyer Looking to eclipse 100 yards rushing for the third time this season. It would mark the most 100-yard rushing games by a Steelers player during one regular season since Rashard Mendenhall registered three 100+ yard rushing games in 2010. TE Heath Miller Is one receiving touchdown away from passing Louis Lipps (39) for the fifth most in franchise history. WR Mike Wallace Needs seven receptions to register at least 70 receptions for the second consecutive season (72 in 2011). If he records at least 100 yards receiving, it will mark the 15th 100- yard game of his career and the third of this season. Is two touchdown receptions shy of tying his career-high of 10, set in 2010. Needs 177 receiving yards to reach 1,000 for the third consecutive season (1,193 in 2011 and 1,257 in 2010). WR Antonio Brown Is 10 receptions short of tying his single season career high of 69, set in 2011. LB LaMarr Woodley Needs 1.5 sacks to tie Greg Lloyd (53.5, 1988-97) for the fifthmost sacks by a Steelers player since sacks became an official statistic in 1982. Looking to tie his single-season career high (2010) with his second interception of the season. S Troy Polamalu Needs one interception to become the ninth Steelers player to record 30 career interceptions. With one fumble return for a touchdown, will tie Jason Gildon (3) for the most fumbles returned for touchdowns in franchise history. Is one defensive touchdown shy of tieing Carnell Lake, Dwayne Woodruff and Jack Butler (5) for the second-most defensive touchdowns in Steelers history (Rod Woodson, 6). Needs one interception return for a touchdown to tie Carnell Lake, Dwayne Woodruff, Deshea Townsend and Tony Campagno (3) for the fourth-most in franchise history. K Shaun Suisham Is one field goal away from setting a new career-best streak of 16 consecutive field goals made (15, 12/28/08 thru 11/22/09 as a member of the Washington Redskins). Needs to make three field goals to tie his single season career high of 29, set in 2007 as a member of the Washington Redskins. Is four touchbacks short of his career high of 28, set in 2011.

TEAM NOTES Immaculate Reception Anniversary: This Sunday will mark the 40th anniversary of the greatest play in NFL history, the Immaculate Reception. With the Steelers trailing the Oakland Raiders 7-3 with 26 seconds left in the 1972 Divisional Playoff Game at Three Rivers Stadium, Terry Bradshaw threw a pass over the middle intended for Frenchy Fuqua. Raiders defensive back Jack Tatum broke up the pass with a hit on Fuqua. Tatum hit the ball with such force that it flew in air and was scooped up just before hitting the ground by Steelers running back Franco Harris who sprinted to the end zone to complete the 60-yard touchdown pass and give Pittsburgh a 13-7 lead with five seconds remaining. This upcoming weekend will consist of events honoring the incredible game-winning reception, including an unveiling of an Immaculate Reception marker near Heinz Field at the actual site of the Immaculate Reception during a special ceremony on Saturday, December 22. Following will be a free event that is open to the public at Stage AE featuring a KDKA-TV Live Immaculate Reception Show featuring Harris and his teammates. After the show there will be a free concert by House of Soul. On Sunday, December 23, which is the actual anniversary of the Immaculate Reception, the Steelers will salute Harris and his teammates at halftime of the game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Additionally, the Steelers and the Heinz History Center are running a fundraising campaign that gives fans an opportunity to commemorate the play with Immaculate Reception collectibles. For more information, fans are encouraged to visit www.heinzhistorycenter.org to learn how to participate in the campaign. Portions of the proceeds will go to the Heinz History Center. Heinz Field Advantage: The Steelers own the best home record in the NFL with a 238-91-1 record (.723) since 1970. Pittsburgh, currently 4-2 at home, started 4-0 at Heinz Field this season for the fourth time under Head Coach Mike Tomlin (2007, 09, 11). Since the start of the 2011 regular season the Steelers are 11-3 at home during the regular season. Pittsburgh is 69-24-1 (.739) at home since Heinz Field opened in 2001. The Steelers.739 winning percentage in regular-season games at Heinz Field is the third-highest winning percentage of any team at a stadium since 1970 (min. 25 games). Team Stadium Record Win Pct. It was the 12th time since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 that the Steelers won at least seven regular-season games at home, including the fourth time at Heinz Field (2001, 04, 07). In the first five seasons under Tomlin, the Steelers won at least five games at home each season. The last time Pittsburgh did not win at least five home games in a season was 2003. Since 2004, Pittsburgh and New England are the only teams in the league to register at least five wins at home during each regular season. Pittsburgh finished the 2004 regular season with an undefeated (8-0) home record for only the third time in team history and for the first time in 25 years. The Steelers finished the 1979 regular season with an undefeated home record (8-0) and eventually won Super Bowl XIV. The Steelers were also undefeated at home (7-0) in 1972. The following is a look at the list of the Steelers records at home since 2004: Year Record 2004 8-0 2005 5-3 2006 5-3 2007 7-1 2008 6-2 2009 6-2 2010 5-3 2011 7-1 2012 4-2 Defense Feels At Home: The Steelers have yielded only 96 points in six home games this season. Pittsburgh s 16.0 points per game allowed at home is fourth in the NFL and first in the AFC this season. Team Home GP Points Per Game Allowed at Home Seattle 6 11.5 San Francisco 7 14.0 Chicago 8 15.4 Pittsburgh 6 16.0 In eight home games in 2011, the Steelers allowed a total of 80 points, giving up 10.0 points per game, the lowest in the NFL. It was also the sixth lowest in Steelers history: Year Points Per Game Allowed at Home 1936 8.2 1946 9.0 1974 9.4 2001 9.8 1976 9.9 2011 10.0 Since Dick LeBeau has been defensive coordinator (2004- present), the Steelers have allowed an average of 15.5 points per game at Heinz Field, which is second in the NFL over that time span for points given up at home during the regular season. If You Build It, They Will Come: The Steelers have averaged 62,345 fans in six home games this season. If Pittsburgh holds that average for the rest of the season, it will mark the ninth straight regular season they averaged over 62,000 fans per game. In 2011, Pittsburgh registered a total attendance of 504,279, marking the fourth consecutive season that over 503,000 fans attended games at Heinz Field. Since Heinz Field opened in 2001, Pittsburgh has recorded over 503,000 fans six times. In the 2010 AFC Championship victory over the N.Y. Jets, the Steelers broke the single-game record. The attendance of 66,662 surpassed the old mark of 65,597 set October 25, 2009, during a game versus the Minnnesota Vikings. The previous regular-season record was 65,392, which was set on November 16, 2009 versus Cincinnati. Pittsburgh set the team home attendance record in 2009 by averaging 63,458 (507,882 total). Pittsburgh has sold out 309 straight games at home, dating back to Nov. 5, 1972 versus Cincinnati. The Steelers 2012 first-round pick, G David DeCastro, spent the first 11 games of the season on Reserve/Injured; Designated to Return List before being reactivated. The Steelers third-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, LB Sean Spence, and TE/FB David Johnson, who started all 16 games for the Steelers in 2011, suffered injuries during the preseason that have sidelined them all year. As the season has progressed starting T Marcus Gilbert and reserve LB Chris Carter have been placed on injured reserve. As the Steelers get players back from injury others go down. Just as Pittsburgh saw the return of S Troy Polamalu for the win over the Ravens (Week 13), they are still without CB Ike Taylor, who has missed most of the last three games. G Willie Colon has missed most of the last four games. This season Pittsburgh has had to count on backups at quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tackle, guard, center, outside linebacker, cornerback and both safety positions. In Week 15 at Dallas, the Steelers started two rookies on the right side of the offensive line, OT Kelvin Beachum and G David DeCastro, who was only playing in his second game since coming back from a knee injury. Pittsburgh also was missing its number one and three cornerbacks (Taylor and Cortez Allen), which created a starting opportunity for first-year CB Josh Victorian who was playing in his second career game after being promoted from the practice squad. The Steelers have even moved guys to different positions to cover for injured players, Maurkice Pouncey had started his entire career at center until Week 13 at Baltimore when he moved to guard due to Colon s injury. Below is a list of Steelers players and how many games they have missed: Player Games Missed Due To Injury Sean Spence 14 (IR) David Johnson 14 (IR) David DeCastro 11 Troy Polamalu 9 Marcus Gilbert 9 (IR) Rashard Mendenhall 7 Stevenson Sylvester 6 Chris Carter 6 (IR) LaMarr Woodley 4 Mike Adams 4 Antonio Brown 3 James Harrison 3 Ben Roethlisberger 3 Byron Leftwich 3 Ike Taylor 2 Isaac Redman 2 Jerricho Cotchery 2 Ryan Clark 1 Maurkice Pouncey 1 Cortez Allen 1 Jonathan Dwyer 1 Brandon Johnson 1 Regular Starters in bold Among The Best: The Steelers have 598 career wins (including postseason), which is the fourth-most in NFL history. The Steelers won the AFC North Division three times in last four years. Although the Steelers finished with an identical 12-4 record in 2011, the Baltimore Ravens won the division and got a first round bye in the playoffs because the Ravens beat the Steelers twice. The Steelers have won 20 division titles since the NFL merger in 1970, the most in the NFL during that time. Pittsburgh last lost to an NFC team at Heinz Field in 2008 (21-14, vs. New York Giants). Prior to losing to the Giants, Pittsburgh had won eight straight games versus NFC teams at home. The Steelers are 6-2 versus the NFC in the Super Bowl. In the Red Zone: The Steelers have converted 41-of-44 red zone opportunities into points this season. The only three times they did not score points in the red zone was when they ended the game by taking a knee, had a 15 point lead with 29 seconds left in the game and decided to run the ball on 4th-and-8 and when the they failed to convert a fake field goal.
