NWCC Year End Award Rules GENERAL RULES NOMINATION FORMS must be completed and sent to the High Point Committee Chairman prior to showing. You may sign up or add categories at any time of year, but points will count only from the date the nomination form is postmarked. In order to qualify for high point awards each youth/amateur exhibitor or open horse owner must fulfill, before November 15 of the year nominating, all of the following requirements: QUALIFICATIONS: 1. You must be member of the Pacific NW Paint Horse Club (PNPHC) at time of sign up. 2. Attend at least four meetings between December 1st and November 30th of the year nominating. Walk-trotters and lead-liners may be represented by a parent. Any member may be represented at one meeting only, by a family member providing they are also a club member. You must sign the meeting attendance sheet for yourself or the person you are representing to be counted. 3A. You must work a minimum of 4 hours at one or more club functions. An immediate family member may work for the nominee. Club functions include but are not limited to the PNPHC Breed Show, PNPHC Open Show, PNPHC Stallion Preview, club BBQ, High point fund raising, High point, and Year End Banquet. Banquet work will count for the year in which it is held. OR 3B. You must purchase a high point award sponsorship for $150. 4. Owners/exhibitors nominating more than one horse must complete rule 3A or 3B for each horse. 5. You must earn a minimum of 10 nwcc points for each performance/halter award or turn in a minimum of 10 hours for a trail riding award. For the purposes of these general rules, the term family member shall refer to a spouse, parent, child, sibling, aunt, uncle, cousin, or legal guardian. SHOWS AND POINTS All APHA approved shows held in Zone One will count toward the PNPHC year-end high point awards with the exception of open show and Outdoor Trail Riders awards. The NWCC point keeper will provide all points from NWCC approved shows. A show report including name and date of show, placings, and class sizes, and signed by the show secretary, must be received by the High Point Chairperson for any non NWCC approved APHA show, within 14 days of the end of the event. These points must be verifiable by APHA and will be tabulated the same as NWCC. There is a form included in this book. Please make copies as needed When referring to POINTS, this rulebook will be referring to NWCC points, not APHA points. Points are tabulated as found in the NWCC points system chart, except as noted for 4-H Danish ribbons and Outdoor Trail Riders. PLEASE READ THESE RULES COMPLETELY!! Every year we have someone who could have received an award, but didn t because they didn t qualify. If you don t understand something, ASK! It is not our responsibility, nor your trainer s; it is your responsibility to see that you have completed these requirements. PNPHC Year End Award Rules GENERAL RULES AND POINTS TABULAION; ALL DIVISIONS 1. All horses must be registered w/ APHA. Weanlings may have a work order #. 2. All APHA Rules will be observed, unless otherwise stipulated. 3. All owners/leasees of above horses must be in good standings with APHA. 4. All horses must be owned and/or leased by a member of PNPHC with the exception of Walk-Trot and Lead Line horses. 5. No points earned prior to membership will be counted. 6. Awards are given to a one-horse/one rider combination in all Youth & Amateur classes. (Exception: Lead line points are on the rider only). 7. The show season will last from November 1 st through October 31 st each year. 8. The number of shows to count will be decided by the number of NWCC judges (50%+1). Example: if there are 56 NWCC judges available, your best 29 placings in each class will count from any eligible show. 9. Points will be calculated using the chart at the end of the rules. 10. TIES: Ties will be broken in the following manner; the horse and/or exhibitor accumulating equal points by showing the least number of times will receive the award. If this is equal, the horse that places over the other horse the greatest number of times will be declared the winner. PNPHC Rule Book 1/1/2006 Page 4
YOUTH, NOVICE, & AMATEUR 1. A Youth is 18 and under. A youth s age is determined by the age first (1 st ) of January. 2. The same horse may be used by more than one youth, novice, or amateur, but not in conflict with APHA Rule YP080.F or AM-085.E. 3. Ownership by Youth, Novice, & Amateur is required as per the APHA Rules. POINT SYSTEM 1. Points will be awarded according to the following chart. 2. Points will be given in All Ages & Combined Classes according to APHA Rules with the NWCC Points System. Open Halter: Points to count from any APHA open halter class except SPB. Must earn a minimum of 10 points 2. Youth Halter: Points to count from any APHA Youth Halter class. Must earn a minimum of 10 points. 3. Amateur Halter: Points to count from any APHA Amateur Halter class. Must earn a minimum of 10 points. 4. SPB Halter: Points to count from any Open APHA SPB halter class. Must earn a minimum of 10 points. 5. Lead Line: Points kept on rider only; no need to use the same horse or handler at every show. Points to count from APHA Lead Line only. Awards will be given at the end of the year for all that rode. (If your son/daughter rides in a class, but doesn t place you must let the high point committee chair know prior to October 31 st.) 6. Novice Youth English: Points to count from all APHA English novice youth classes. Must have a minimum of 10 points in at least 1 classes. 7. Novice Youth Western: Points to count from all APHA Western novice youth classes except halter and gaming. Includes showmanship. Must have at least 10 points each in at least 2 classes. 8. Walk/Trot 5 9: Points to count from all youth walk/trot classes. Halter not to count. Must earn a minimum of 10 points each in at least 2 classes. 9. 13 & Under, English: Points to count from all APHA 13 & under and 18 & under English classes. Must have at least 10 points each in at least 2 classes. 20. Amateur Yearling: Points to count from APHA amateur longe line and amateur trail in hand. Must earn a minimum of 10 points. 21. Junior horse English: Points to count from all APHA English junior horse or all age classes including driving. Must have a minimum of 10 points in at least 1 class. 22. Junior Horse Western: Points to count from all APHA Western junior horse or all age classes. Must have at least 10 points each in at least 2 classes. 23. Senior Horse English: Points to count from all APHA English senior horse or all age classes including driving. Must earn a minimum of 10 points in at least 1 class. 24. Senior Horse English: Points to count from all APHA Western or all age classes. Must have at least 10 points each in at least 2 classes. 25. Green Horse: Points to count from all APHA green horse classes. Must earn a minimum of 10 points. 26. Yearling: Points to count from APHA open longe line and in hand trail. Youth SPB: Points to count from all APHA youth SPB classes except halter. Must earn at least 10 points. 31. Amateur SPB: points to count from all APHA amateur SPB classes except halter. Must earn a minimum of 10 points. 32. All Ages SPB: Points to count from all APHA open SPB classes except Halter. Must earn a minimum of 10 points. *Top Five will only be awarded to those categories that have 6 (six) or more horses entered, otherwise, only top two prizes will be awarded. PNPHC All Around Horse 1. Open to all Youth, Novice Youth, Amateur, Novice Amateur, Junior Horses (2 Year Old & Junior Horses) and Senior Horses showing in the open division. 2. Must earn points in at least 4 (four) categories: English, Western, Cattle, Driving, Event & Halter. 3. There is a minimum 10 point requirement in any one category. 4. Total accumulated points earned in open classes will count for this All Around Open Horse Award and Reserve All Around Award. 5. If no open horse earns points in the minimum amount of categories, NO AWARD WILL BE GIVEN! PNPHC Open Performance Show Awards Open to Regular and Breeding Stock Paints Four Divisions: Youth and Senior, Performance and gaming 1. All general rules apply. 2. Year End High Point Nomination form must be received (postmarked) prior to participation in the first show that you wish to collect points from. You may sign up at any time during the year but points will not be recorded until High Point Chairperson receives the postmarked nomination form. 3. Open to all members that show a Paint horse or Breeding Stock Paint horse at open shows such as NSBA, 4-H, ZONE, Local Open, Reining, B system, Fairs, Hunter/Jumper, etc. (Other than Breed approved shows.) 4. Open Show Point Log Sheets are in this rule book, please make copies of the Point sheets are you will need one sheet per judge and show that you attend. You must legibly complete one form for each show/judge and have the show secretary sign the form after your last class for that show. No copies of show secretary s signature. Mail the completed form to the High Point Chairperson within 14 days after the last day of the show. (POSTMARKED). 5. Points are tallied per NWCC point chart. (Except for clarification of Danish System placing). 6. Danishes shall be tabulated: Blue=6 points, Red=4 points, White=2 points, Reserve=1 point. 7. Total accumulation of points is based on your top 20 judges, but you may submit all that you show under. Outdoor PNPHC Trail Riding Awards 1. Must meet the same qualifications as all members, please read under General Rules for qualifications. 2. Open to Breeding Stock and Regular Paints, and Members that own Paints, but ride an outside breed. 3. One horse/one rider combination, though more than one rider may enter on more than one horse. 4. Award will be based on the number of entries. 5. Year End High Point Nomination form must be received prior to the trail rides you wish to count for the overall award. You may sign up at any time during the year, but hours will not be recorded until the postmarked nomination form is received by the High Point Chairperson. 6. A Trail Ride Log Sheet for hours ridden must be maintained by the rider on the honor system of hours kept. Any falsifying of hours will result in your disqualification of an award. Log Sheet hours to count after Nomination is received and a Log Sheet can be found in this rule book. Make copies for additional pages needed. 7. PNPHC Trail Ride Hour Log Sheet Name of Owners: Name of Horse: You must complete the Nomination form for Outdoor Trail Riding and the nomination form must be submitted to the High Point Chairperson before you start logging your hours. Keep a log of all the hours that you spend in the saddle on outdoor trail rides. (I.e. not in an arena or on your own property) that you and your horse do. Be sure that this is hours in the saddle not time out for lunch when on day rides etc. Log all hours that are spend on casual rides, poker rides, and competitive trial rides, etc. Return this log to High Point Chairperson.
