THE BULLET-TIN December 2008 Phone (972) 641-9940 (leave message) www.gpgc.net Monday Night Trap League We are currently in the middle of a Trap Doubles League which is being a lot of fun. The current leaders are Kerry Williams, Larry Lewis, Benny Emmons, and Steve Hambrick, but a lot can change in the next three to four weeks. We will probably be starting a new league of some type either right before Christmas and the week after. Everyone should make note of this and be prepared to start the new league. Shooting is a lot different shooting under the lights. If you have never experienced this you should try it. Welcome New Members! Silhouette Match Results Nov. 22nd we held our monthly Silhouette shoot and it is growing in popularity. We quickly filled up with 9 shooters and several observers. As usual the array of pistols is amazing. The weather was crispy and clear. No wind, no clouds and about 50 degrees. Nice fall jacket weather. A good day to hold a warm pistol in your hand. Lots of teasing went on but when the dust cleared we had a new winner and a new record. Hoa Nguyen won with a 41 out of 45 Hoa Nguyen wins with 41 out of 45 with iron sights and a Ruger Mark III, but he had a $65 bionic eye. Second place was a tie with Dale Holder and Emilio Zubizarreta posting our old record of 36. When I approached the watchers after the shoot they all said that they would be back next month with their.22 pistols. They didn t see any shooting that scared them. Clint Eastwood does not shoot with us. Come on out next month Dec.27th at 10:00 AM for our next shoot. Dan Brown November Sporting Clays Morning Course (50 Targets) - $195 Paid Out in awards! All in all things went VERY smooth thanks to everyone that rolled their sleeves up and pitched in with lunch, moving traps, loading traps, picking up hulls, etc. In total we collected $590 in trophy fees and paid it ALL back to the shooters. Benny smiling, after he hit the long bird Jason coaching Benny Benny, Jason & Dwight, long shot Donny says Station 5 is 97 yards away --- WOW! 6 Turkey Shoot 2008 On November 23, 2008 GPGC held it s annual Turkey Shoot on the Shotgun Fields. This consisted of clay target games on the 5 stand field and the trap field. Also playing a major part in this activity is the meal! Benny Emmons, Steve Gilmore, John Slocum, Randy Walhood and other helpers smoked 27 turkeys which were sold to members and consumed for lunch. Over 50 people were served lunch. Thanks to Sharon Walhood and Bill Schweitzer for helping do preparation work in the kitchen. We should all be thankful we have a building and the facilities that allow us to enjoy these type of events. Plus we have people that volunteer their time to make the event a success! There were games on the 5 stand field that Jason Foshea set up which provided many challenging targets for several shooters. The weather was very pleasant and most shooters were captivated by the wolfchase game on the Trap Field. I think there were over 40 shooters in the first couple of games. If you got put out on the first time through the line, the ability to buy back for another dollar was very popular. Nobody believes they can miss until they do Then you either get put out by a kid or a girl or anybody else that hits the target after you miss. Debra Altenbaumer proved she had what it takes by winning a turkey very early in the afternoon! Chris Dirker put out his Dad, Tony Dirker, not once, but twice with a youth size 20 gauge! Joy Reed also sent her husband to the waiting line more than once. I made the mistake of standing next to her during one game as well. Don t let anyone kid you, your gun doesn t look better in the rack!. 27 turkeys were given away to the lucky winners of these various games and a great time was had by all. Happy Thanksgiving to all our GPGC members and enjoy the Holiday Season! Randy Walhood
