Bahamas Olympic Committee In conjunction with PAN AMERICAN SPORTS ORGANIZATION CONTINENTAL SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ATHLETES

RULES FOR ITS APPLICATION I.- INTRODUCTION The Bahamas Olympic Committee is committed to building capacity amongst our member federations, we are committed to boosting and developing all sport towards the achievement of better results in the XVII Pan American Games Toronto 2015 and in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games which demand constant technical updating of athletes and coaches. The preparation of athletes for this Olympic cycle requires further financial resources, new technical medium for training, as well as specialized attention at Continental High Level Training Centers that count with all proper technical and logistic conditions. The Continental Scholarships for Athletes Program is a new option for the preparation of athletes, implemented for the first time in the Americas. With its own resources, the BOC /PASO will execute this Program. The Bahamas Olympic Committee through the Pan American Sports Organization will cover the expenses related to the Scholarships Program. Each NF may send 3 athletes and one coach of the 20 individual sports in the 2016 Olympic Program. II.- GENERAL OBJECTIVES Support the technical preparation of athletes of higher level at High Level Training Centers, with the objective of upgrading their conditions to improve their competitive results at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games and the Río 2016 Olympic Games. Develop a system of High Level Training Centers to provide support to athletes and NF's, considering the preparation of athletes of

individual sports that are part of the Program of the next Pan American Games and Olympic Games. Guarantee the provision at the selected High Level Training Centers of state of the art technical services that apply the most advanced methods in sports training, with high level experts on the specific sports and on auxiliary sciences. Support the athletes so they may fulfill their responsibility to prepare themselves and to participate in the Pan American Olympic Festival, the Toronto Pan American Games and the Rio Olympic Games. III.- DEFINITIONS The scholarships for athletes of individual sports, will be carried out in short periods of up to a month at the continent s High Level Training Centers selected and approved by BOC/PASO. PASO, in coordination with the NOC of the High Level Training Center, will determine the organizational and technical conditions, the available equipment for athletes and the daily cost per athlete during the training period. The general concept is that the Bahamas Olympic Committee has the option of sending 3 athletes and 1 coach of the individual sports in the Programs of Toronto and Rio to the selected High Level Training Centers. Each NF should submit the corresponding application to the Bahamas Olympic Committee for approval. This Program will begin starting from April 2014 and will have its most intense stage previous to the Toronto Pan American Games in 2015. PASO/ BOC will establish the rules, procedures and time limits the athletes that wish to use this kind of scholarships should fulfill,
