NATF The National Axe Throwing Federation (NATF) was formed in 2016 to service the rapidly emerging sport of axe throwing on an international level, and facilitate competition between throwers belonging to member organizations. Our vision is to create broad and standardized competition amongst players, while providing support for membership through a mandate to promote universal safety, sportsmanship and competitive protocol. A 12-YEAR OVERNIGHT SUCCESS 2011 2015 2017 The sport evolves to indoor axe throwing with the first warehouse in Toronto. Other independent axe throwing organizations join the sport. NATF hosts the first competitive tournament between its member organizations. 2019 The NATF announces Andrew Steinberg as Chair of the Board. 2006 The first axe throwing organization, BATL, was established in the backyard of founder Matt Wilson. 2014 BATL expands, opening its first locations outside of Toronto, Canada. 2016 The NATF was established to service the sport of axe throwing globally. 2018 First live stream of National Axe Throwing Championship, with commentary and over 50,000 views.
