The RMS Ski Club is going to Granite Peak What: When: Who : Cost: A Saturday day/night ski trip to Granite Peak in Wausau, Wisconsin Saturday, January 13th - 5:00 a.m. 11:00 p.m. Open to Rotolo Middle School students only 12 and under AT TIME OF TRIP $82 includes transportation costs and lift ticket. 13 and over AT TIME OF TRIP $102 - includes transportation costs and lift ticket. Rental fees $30 - the rental of equipment, if you are not bringing your own skis or snowboard (optional) $10 - Helmets may be rented (optional) ** If trip is cancelled for any reason, refund will only be given for equipment rental and lift ticket. Bus charges incurred will be deducted before a refund is issued. ***Ski or Snow Board Lessons are available but need to be made by you. We will not be coordinating lessons for the group. We recommend not scheduling your lesson with the ski school before 12pm or after 3pm. The number for the ski school is 715.845.2846. ****If there is an injury that requires a trip to the hospital, a parent or guardian will need to be available to to pick up the student at the hospital**** Sign Up: Complete and return forms with full payment to RMS Main Office as soon as possible. Make check (s) payable to Rotolo Middle School. ** PLEASE NOTE Cost for the trip is based on a full bus. Although the sign-up deadline is December 22 nd, participation for the trip will be made on a first come - first serve basis.

Day of the Trip Information 1. Bring all your clothes, equipment etc. to school the morning of the trip. Have all belongings together in a backpack or duffle bag clearly labeled. Lockers will be available for purchase so bring lots of quarters to make things easier. 2. Drop off- On the morning of the trip, please drop your child off in the back of the school where the buses usually drop off in the morning. Only the rear door of the school will be open. 3. Pick up- Please pick up your child in the back of the school where the buses usually drop off in the morning. Please do not park in the bus turnaround area. The school will not be open when we return; your prompt pick up will be greatly appreciated. 4. Food- It is recommended that the children bring a sack breakfast, lunch and dinner and extra snacks. Food may be purchased at the resort, however the food lines can be long and it is expensive. 5. Clothes- Dress for the cold!! It is best to dress in layers. The children can always take off a layer should they feel warm. Please be sure your child brings snow pants, a hat, and good warm ski gloves/mittens. Cheap gloves/mittens = frozen fingers 6. Gear Students are responsible for their own gear. This includes rentals, equipment and any other items that the student chooses to bring on the trip. Rotolo Middle School, chaperones, trip supervisors as well as the bus company are not responsible for lost, stolen or misplaced items.

Granite Peak Ski Trip Information 1. The cost of the ski trip is $82 (12 and under) or $102 (13+) which includes bus transportation and day/night lift ticket. If you do not own your own equipment, equipment rental (skis, poles, boots or snowboard) from Granite Peak can be arranged and costs $30. Helmet rental is an additional $10. Lessons are not included or offered through the trip but can be scheduled on your own by calling the ski school and paying in advance. Please include one check per student MADE OUT TO RMS and indicate both on the form provided and on the check what the total includes. 2. All charges incurred will be deducted from the total before a refund is issued. 3. The bus will leave RMS as close to 5:00 a.m. as possible and will return at approximately 11:00 p.m. Parents are expected to pick up their children at RMS on time - please look for their call between 9 and 10 pm. The school will be closed when we return. The children will be dropped off at the front of the school (bus lot). 4. Snowboarding Rules Snowboarding is very popular. It is also very difficult. Think carefully if you are a beginning skier and want to snowboard. All snowboarders must wear a helmet and are strongly encourage to have wristguards! 5. The students will be required to check in with a chaperone during a set time in the lodge during the trip. Attendance will be taken before leaving RMS and at Granite Peak Ski Resort. 6. Students will forfeit their lift ticket for any of the following: unsafe behavior, foul language, reckless skiing, bus misconduct, abuse of rental equipment or insubordination to a chaperone. 7. Rotolo Middle School Ski Trip 1501 S. Raddant Road Batavia, IL 60510 Supervisor: Morgan Connell, RMS Teacher Supervisor: Kimberly Oswald, RMS Teacher SIGN UP: Students may sign up for the trip before or after school by submitting all completed paperwork to the RMS Main Office. The cost and destination of the trip will be announced on the P.A. system. COLLECTION OF MONEY (please write one check covering the cost of your student made out to Rotolo Middle School): 12 and under $82 includes transportation costs and lift ticket. 13 and over $102 - includes transportation costs and lift ticket. Rental fees $30 - the rental of equipment, if you are not bringing your own skis or snowboard (optional) $10 - Helmets may be rented (optional) REFUNDS: Students wishing to cancel their bus reservation for any reason must do so by Wednesday, January 10th, 2018 or forfeit the bus fee. PERMISSION SLIPS: Please complete the attached forms and have your child return ALL OF THEM to the Main Office at the Middle School (include check for trip). Please hold on to your informational forms about the date/time/trip specifics though. LESSONS : Lessons are available at the ski area but need to be made on your own. Information about this is on the Granite Peak Website. Lessons should not be scheduled before noon. PARENTS: Please be within reach by phone in case of a ski mishap. If you are not going to be home tell your child where you can be reached. Please be at the school on time to pick up your child, as it will be cold and dark when bus returns. Students may bring or buy lunch and dinner. Rotolo Middle School is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged goods. Please do not wait for a call-assume the bus will be on time so you are there and ready to pick up your child.

STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO: 1. Exhibit courteous behavior toward others at all times. 2. Be on the bus at the scheduled time to leave in the morning and back on the bus by the scheduled time for return home. 3. Cooperate with their chaperones, bus driver and area ski patrol. 4. REMAIN SEATED WHILE THE BUS IS IN MOTION!! STATE LAW! 5. Refrain from use of profane language, tobacco products, alcohol or other drugs. This is strictly enforced. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. 6. Do not ski alone. TRIP DATE: (subject to change depending on snow conditions) Leave Return Saturday, January. 13 th Granite Peak, WI 5:00am 11:00pm Trip announcements are made on the P.A. and will also be posted. Barring injury or adverse weather, bus departure and arrival should be within 30 minutes to 1 hour of posted time. Bus departs from Rotolo Middle School. *The use of helmets and wrist guards by skiers and snowboarders can greatly reduce the risk of serious injury and even death. Helmet use is recommended for all ski trip participants (they come for an additional $10 fee).
