Boating Ontario is the largest marine trade association in Canada and has been promoting safe, responsible, recreational boating for more than 45 years. Boating Ontario acts as the voice of the recreational boating industry and provides members with critical and regulatory support, information, advice and direction for all aspects of their business. Boating Ontario is comprised of more than 500 marinas, marine dealers, yacht clubs, municipal marinas and associated companies working together to promote recreational boating in Ontario.

Networking, education, creative brainstorming, new ideas, motivation just a few of things to experience at the Boating Ontario Conference & Trade Show. This event brings together professionals from Ontario s recreational marine industry to learn from the pros and each other how to improve their business and connect with customers. The annual Conference is held in early December, providing a chance to kickback, relax and have fun at the end of a hard season of work. Hosted concurrently with the Conference is a Trade Show which brings together businesses who are directly targeting the recreational marine industry. Exhibitors at this Trade Show must be members of the Boating Ontario Association. The Trade Show will provide your business with an opportunity to enhance brand and product visibility, promote new and existing products, generate leads and drive sales. In addition, show participation enables you to stay on top of the latest industry trends, gain competitor insights, make key industry contacts, and further solidify relationships with current customers. Marina Operators consist of wet and dry-land marinas, boatyards and yacht clubs. Municipal Marinas are owned and operated by municipalities. Trade Members are companies who supply products and services to the marine industry. Memberships are $525.00 plus HST Boating Ontario Dealers are established boating professionals aimed at creating the highest standards of service and professionalism in the boating industry throughout Ontario. Members aspire to make the task of buying or selling a boat in Ontario a straightforward and positive experience for everyone. Boating Ontario Dealers are also members of Boating Ontario. Membership is an additional $100.00 plus HST.
Buying or selling a boat? There is only one choice - a certified Boating Ontario Dealer. All members of the association have commit to a strict terms of reference for the conduct of their business and have agreed to abide by a code of conduct. All Boating Ontario Dealer members must employ at least one Boating Ontario Certified Professional on their staff. In order to become a Boating Ontario Certified Professional the individual must have met the following requirements: 1. Worked as a boating professional for a Boating Ontario Dealer for at least one year. 2. Successfully completed a training course and passed the Georgian College "Marine Sales Professional" Examination or passed the Certified Professional Yacht Brokers examination offered by the Yacht Brokers Association of America (YBAA). All Boating Ontario Dealer members also belong to the Boating Ontario Association
Over the past several years, Boating Ontario has been proactively working on your behalf to create programs and to lobby government on the following industry issues: Water Lot Leases deterred an imposed 500% increase on water lot leases in the St. Lawrence and helped create a new water lot lease program for the industry with 325 participating marinas Dredging instrumental in having the federal government commit $15 million to an emergency dredging program for the Great Lakes. 90% of government spending went to Boating Ontario members Clean Marine developed and implemented the world renowned best environmental practices ecorated program with more than 250 participating members Byrd Amendment successfully had legislation repealed to the proposed 100% levy on all boats coming into Canada from the U.S.A. Vessel Licensing assisted with creating an electronic program for vessel licensing with the intent to improve data collection for the industry Student Training developed and implemented a marine staff / student training workshop in compliance with the province s Safe at Work Ontario strategy Skills Development created the World Class Boating Centre of Excellence with Georgian College for skilled trades training Human Resources developed a Human Resources Manual and Web Portal for members to stay on the leading edge of government legislation Occupational Health & Safety developed a Health & Safety Manual conducive to the marine industry to help members prepare for potential Ministry of Labour onsite audits HST acquired clarification for the marine industry from the Ontario government taxation ruling department Trent Severn Waterway & Rideau Canal assisted with ensuring continued operation of the systems and holding lockage fees for three years
