Prop Spinner Chatter. VOLUME 16 ISSUE 9 AMA Charter #529 Eugene Prop Spinners http://flyinglines.org Club News and Other Information Last Club Meeting Our monthly meeting was on August 17 th, present were Mike Denlis, Floyd Carter, Mel Marcum and Jim Corbett. Meeting at the field was called to order at 10:09. The treasurers report by proxy - no change. Bench plaque estimated costs from "Bar- N-Dee" $150 for stone, $0.28 per sq in for thin brass plaque. We discussed building a double sided bench that would seat 4-6 on each side, and having a plaque that could have names added in future. Signs for cones discussed, also doing a straight line of cones with yellow tape. Museum and EPS will not be participating in this coming Saturday's Fly Fest. Next meeting will be on September 21 st. The meeting was adjourned at 10:38am. Club Flying Sunday August 17, how does that go It Blew, We Flew. Mike Denlis and Floyd Carter could not be grounded. August 31, as windy as a windy day goes, the wind speed was not as bad as the unpredictably changing direction of the wind. John Thompson, Mike Denlis, Floyd Carter, Gene Pape did not get intimidated by that. Mike Massey and his brother both got some air time in on the trainer. September 7, another windy day. Both grass circles got a trim, a fair amount of flying with both sport and combat planes in the air. John, Gene, Mike, Floyd and Tom bounced around the circle, yours truly was brave enough to watch and take pictures. September 13, another windy day. Your editor slept thru the session. John Thompson, Gene Pape, Mike Denlis, Floyd Carter and Mike Massey got in some air time. John Thompson reports a new member joined. As the summer contest schedule slows, I expect the crowd to increase at our weekend flying sessions, that is until the RAINS arrive again. For the past several months number of weekend flyers has been reduced by having two to four of our members out of town at contests and fun flys. Next Club Meeting Time and Place Time and Place 10:00 AM September 21 st at the flying site. Club meetings are normally the third Sunday of the month, 10 a.m. at the field, or at the "Wings" restaurant if the weather is bad. Bring a plane anyway, there may be a "BREAK in the weather.

At the Field August 17, 2008 A brief meeting Discuss the finer points. Grand Poo-Bah ready A couple Mikes talking handle. Waiting for a pilot. 2

At the Field August 31, 2008 Mike Massey gets some air time. The Evil Twin returns. ( also Heli leaving airport ) Gene, Mike s brother, Mike and John Waiting for their turn to fly Mike battling the windy day. Waiting for the wind to mellow a bit. 3

At the Field August 31, 2008 continued Mike putting the trainer in the air. Getting ready to call it a day. At the Field September 7, 2008 The wind sock shows HOW WINDY it was. The WEED eater! Flite Streak Talk Getting ready. 4

At the Field September 7, 2008 continued Gene outran the wind. Time to go. Airport OPs The following is a guide for use of our flying site: 1. Call Airport Operations @ 954-6584 and let them know your plans. This is just a courtesy heads up for them, at their request, BUT, if they know of an unusual closure they will let you know and save you a trip. 2. If the Police Department is using the site, f lying is not recommended. It would be OK to ask them, I suppose, but as I have said it could be a major distraction and I personally would not do it. The Airports position is flying models is prohibited. 3. If the site is being used for parking PUBLIC vehicles there is no flying. If the gate is open and the booth is manned that is the situation. 4. If the site is being used to park RENTAL vehicles, we can fly, and that understanding is between us and the rental car folks as it has always been. That about sums it up and should keep us all on the same page, so please share this information with new members. Thanks to you all for being responsible, safe fliers! Mike. 5
