American Meter Series and 000 Worker/Monitor Regulators Worker/Monitor sets are commonly used to provide overpressure protection. A worker/monitor installation consists of a monitor with an external static connection and a worker with an internal static connection. The regulator selected to be the monitor is set at " to 5" w.c. above the worker. The external static connection is connected at a point free of turbulence and preferably a minimum of five pipe diameters downstream. Improved Features and 000 Series Monitor Conversion American Meter offers four industrial monitor regulators the 80M, 00M, 88M and 08M. Design improvements now enable all models to be configured as Monitor Regulators. This change was effective with all and 000 Series Regulators manufactured after January 994. The advantage is that two models of the same regulator need not be stocked. All models are pre-machined to accept a monitor conversion kit. Refer to IMP 8740 for kit numbers and installation instructions. When a regulator with an OPSO is converted to a monitor, a sense line must extend downstream of the worker, as shown in the diagram to the right. General Information The Series B ROOTS meter is a positive displacement, rotary type gas meter designed for continuously measuring and indicating the accurate measurement of gas. ROOTS meters are suitable for handling most types of clean, dry, common gases at either constant or varying flow rates. Meters of standard construction are not directly suitable for handling acetylene, biogas or sewage gas. Contact the factory for information on specially constructed meters made of materials more compatible with these and other gases. Volumetric accuracy of the ROOTS meter is permanent, non-adjustable, and is not affected by low or varying line pressure. Series B meters may be used satisfactorily for pressures ranging from a few ounces to full Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP). Displaced volume measurement is completely independent of the gas specific gravity, temperature, and pressure. Series B ROOTS meters have a MAOP rating of 75 psig (00kPa). Every meter is static pressure tested at the factory at twice its MAOP and leak tested at 5 percent of MAOP in accordance with ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Codes. Other pressure ratings are available. General Information The Series B ROOTS meter is a positive displacement, rotary type gas meter designed for continuously measuring and indicating the accurate measurement of gas. ROOTS meters are suitable for handling most types of clean, dry, common gases at either constant or varying flow rates. Meters of standard construction are not directly suitable for handling acetylene, biogas or sewage gas. Contact the factory for information on specially constructed meters made of materials more compatible with these and other gases. Volumetric accuracy of the ROOTS meter is permanent, non-adjustable, and is not affected by low or varying line pressure. Series B meters may be used satisfactorily for pressures ranging from a few ounces to full Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP). Displaced volume measurement is completely independent of the gas specific gravity, temperature, and pressure. Series B ROOTS meters have a MAOP rating of 75 psig (00kPa). Every meter is static pressure tested at the factory at twice its MAOP and leak tested at 5 percent of MAOP in accordance with ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Codes. Other pressure ratings are available. Consult Factory. ROOTS meters are manufactured in accordance with ANSI B09. for Rotary Type Gas Displacement Meters. Series B ROOTS meter sizes 8C through 56M, have flanged inlet and outlet connections conforming dimensionally with ANSI/ASME standards. Sizes 8C through M are available with -/ NPT connections, upon special request. The meter operating temperature range is from -40 F to +40 F (-40 C to +60 C) while the temperature compensating mechanism of the TC accessory provides a corrected reading for temperatures ranging from -0 F to +0 F (-9 C to +49 C).
