Hello fellow Cowtown Club Members and friends. I am sorry I missed the July Club meeting but fellow club member Bill Boon had me in LA delivering one of his trailers to a member of the armed forces that was unable to pick it up here. Fine with me though because I have relatives and friends in Vegas and it gave me a chance to take a day to visit everyone. It was great to see everyone that I have missed for years. I want to thank Phillip for taking over the meeting in my absence and I will be there for the August meeting and hope to see a good turnout for August. It has been a strange July as far as the weather is concerned but I am not going to complain. If we knew this in advance we could have had a cruise in July. Hopefully August will be more of the same. We all can use a mild summer for a change. Lets look forward to the cooler weather that nest month starts to bring us. I know the car show fans will enjoy it and I know the members of TMCCC will enjoy it and are ready to get the final half of the season started. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and hope to see you at our August Meeting. Mike BY THE MINUTES No report

Off The Wing by Barry Hansen Hope you are having a good summer. The weather sure has been cooperating. Lots to talk about this month. Let's get to it. NHRA report: Route 66 Nat's, Chicago, IL, all Charger AA/FC final, Matt Hagan over Tommy Johnson, Jr. Summit Nat's, Norwalk, OH, Ron Capps, Charger, runner up, AA/FC. Mopar Mile High Nat's, Denver, CO, Pro Stock all Dart final, Allen Johnson over Jeg Coughlin. Sonoma Nat's, Sonoma, CA, V. Gaines, Dart, runner up Pro Stock. Viper news, IMSA TUDOR SportsCar Championship (GT Le Mans class). Viper 2nd and 3rd, Watkins Glen, NY. 2nd and 3rd, Ontario, Canada. Wins class at the Brickyard, Indianapolis, IN. Mopar Spotting...speaking of Vipers, Nat'l Geographic Channel "Ultimate Factories" show visited the Viper factory. Made in Detroit, 2 1/2 days to hand assemble. Each one gets a big smokey burnout after a series of quality control inspections. Mopar Spotting part deux...nat'l Geographic Channel "Alaska State Troopers" drive Chargers. Wonder if they are FWD? Saw FWD Charger in a Dodge showroom in Glen Springs, CO. Said they have FWD 300's as well. I knew of FWD Caravans and Pacificas. New book on best seller list "Auto Biography: An Outlaw Motorhead and 57 Years of the American Dream". About the car itself and its 13 owners past and present. Just think of the stories your car could tell (if it dared). Lat month Phill mentioned the "Hellcat". I finally looked it up. Holy Moly! 2015 Challenger SRT with the factory "HellCat" option. This is a 6.2 L HEMI, supercharged, 707 HP, eight speed Torqueflite ATM or 6 speed manual trans. Includes two separate 'keyless start" fobs, red fob for all 707 HP, black fob for "only" 500 HP (you know, for the service shop, valet parking, etc). GM and Ford will not try to match. GM standing pat on new 580 HP Camaro and 650 HP Corvette. Most powerful Ford, the Mustang Shelby GT, 662 HP, recently out of production. I predict BBC show "Top Gear" will road test and say, "yea, but for only $100,000 more you can have a British/European POS that will almost but not quite match it". In the newspaper recently. Ford and Dept of Transportation stripped 800 pounds out of a Fusion looking for better gas mileage. Suprise! It got better mileage. Suggestion: strip 800 pounds out of a HEMI Challenger. I can only imagine how much faster it would be, and, oh yea, better gas mileage....a slant six Dodge is no big thrill, But it's a car no atom bomb can kill... from the song "Car and Driver" by Bill Morrissey Ron Carroll just had knee replacement surgery. Ron get well soon. We know you'll be back kick boxing and snow boarding in no time. Loud and Proud...Mopar
