Cheer Magic Allstars, LLC Competition Cheerleading Handbook 2019-20 About Cheer Magic: Thank you for your interest in Cheer Magic Allstars, LLC. One of Tennessee's fastest growing programs in the sport of competitive cheerleading. Cheer Magic is going on its sixth year in business! The 2016-2017 competition season was the first season that Cheer Magic competed in traditional all-star divisions. Cheer Magic has worked to bring home titles that gyms have worked years to receive. We have proved that we have the skills to produce top notch athletes from the ground up. We have the skills and knowledge that it takes to produce exceptional talent, even to the most novice cheerleader. We believe our enthusiasm and dedication to the sport of competitive cheerleading is above the rest. Our passion is not to just win. We believe winning is the outcome of confidence, strength, endurance, power, passion, dedication, and being a team player. We teach the above skills to bring out the best not only in cheerleading lessons, but to last a lifetime. That is how we are earning our WINNING TITLES! Competition Cheerleading Commitment: Cheer Magic competition commitment starts from the time you sign a contract with Cheer Magic until the month ending our last competition. Team Placements: Team placements will be held May 5th-9th, 2019. During placements, athletes will be evaluated on their current athletic skills as well as athletic potential. Attitude, work ethic, speed of learning, team work ability, and discipline will be evaluated as well. Cheer Magic will base final team placement on all aspects of cheer. Cheer Magic must adhere to current requirements set by USASF age grids. Coaches will base the team selections on skills exhibited during the try out procedure and place the athlete on the appropriate team and team level. Other factors such as basing and flying abilities will play a factor as to what level the athlete and team will be able to compete in. Current and any NEW Tiny Novice (ages 3 & 4 as of August 31, 2019) will turn in parent packets on Monday May 6th at 3:45. Current Tiny and Mini teams will turn in parent packets and have an evaluation on Monday, May 6th at 6:30-7:30. Current Youth 1 members will turn in parent packets and have an evaluation on Tuesday, May 7th at 6:30. Senior Coed members will turn in parents packets and have an evaluation on Wednesday, May 8th at 6:00. Youth 2 members will turn in in parent packets and be evaluated Thursday, May 8th at 6:00. All new members to CMA s competitive program will need to turn in parent packets and be evaluated on Friday, May 9th at 6:00. If for any reason you can not make your evaluation date, we can schedule a better time/date. Please contact Coach Tiffany or April to schedule a more convenient date. Teams will be announced by May 11, 2019 before 5pm. Any athlete joining after initial team placement date will be placed on a team at the coach s discretion no matter athlete s skill level or experience. We as coaches have FINAL decision on ALL team placements. Coaches have extensive professional backgrounds in all aspects of cheerleading and tumbling and will place the athletes where they are most qualified. FOR ALL ATHLETES: To be eligible to be placed on a team: 1. Each athlete MUST pay a $100.00 deposit (non refundable). If not paid athlete will not be eligible to be placed on a team. 2. May Tuition must be paid 3. All returning athlete accounts must have a zero or negative balance to be placed on a team.

4. The Cheer Magic Handbook, Contract, and all other forms must be completed before team placements. 5. During team placements week, you will be required to authorize a monthly draft using your debit or credit card. Complete the Contract to sign the authorization form. 6. You cannot have defaulted on any any previous contract with Cheer Magic LLC. 7. We will validate each credit card as a valid payment as each packet is turned in. Start, Stop, Start: No athlete can start a team and pay tuition, stop for a while, and then start back up again. If an emergency is to arise then the parents/guardians and Cheer Magic staff will meet and agree on a plan that is fair to all parties. Practices May, June & July: Each Team will have a vacation sheet. All vacations that require an athlete to miss practice must be written down on each team s vacation sheet. We ask for this to be done by May 31st to help us plan practices and special events over the summer. Each athlete will be required to be at one competitive practice a week and one tumbling class a week. Attendance at practice is critical to each athlete s progress and crucial to the success of the team. 4 unexcused absences will be allowed during the May-July Period. August starts our Fall schedule. Reevaluation of athlete s skill can happen at any time if skills have declined. This could result in a change in team. Team Practice Schedules: It is impossible to know how many squads, what divisions or even levels we will have before team placement day. Schedules will be announced when team reveals are announced. Cheer Magic Competition practices must come first to any other after school activity. August-May Schedule: Competition classes cannot be determined at this time, there is no way to know the best practice schedule available without knowing number of teams and open times for teams until after team placements. However, practice times will be similar to summer schedule. Team Rosters will be posted on the Cheer Magic Facebook page by Saturday May 11th at 5:00pm with a practice schedule. Competition Fall Practices: The Fall Season begins August 2019 and ends on the last day of the month of our last competition of the season. Practice attendance is mandatory. The attendance policy below will be strictly enforced. An athlete s team position will be jeopardized for noncompliance with any of the following terms of the attendance policy. Attendance Policy: If your child misses practice, please understand that it affects the entire team. CMA has placed a strict policy for all who miss. All absences require a written note, any absence without a note will incur a $10.00 fee. Any absence within one week of a competition will receive a $25.00 fee. Please see below for excused/unexcused absences. After 5 (cannot miss 6) total unexcused absences, they will be removed from the team. If a child misses more than 3 practices due to chronic illnesses, they will be removed from the team until a doctor's release says they have zero limitations. It is impossible to train an athlete/team when athletes miss from practice. Please allow coaches to train your athlete by having them at scheduled practices.

If your child is going to miss practice, you MUST contact your athlete s coach. Unexcused: family celebrations, homework, movies, birthday parties, tired, forgot, etc. Excused: death in the family, school function for grade, and contagious illness. Excessive absences or tardiness can result in dismissal from the team. THE TWO SATURDAYS BEFORE ANY COMPETITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO ADDITIONAL PRACTICES, ABSOLUTELY NO MISSING FOR ANY REASON. Practice Attire: Cheer shoes must be worn at every practice. Sports Bras may be worn (please note the difference in training Bras and Sports Bras, they are not the same thing). Shorts should not be rolled up excessively. They are intended to be worn as shorts, not bloomers. Hair must be pulled up, out of face. A hair tie is required at all practices NO jewelry of any kind allowed in the gym. Cheer Magic or its employees are NOT responsible for jewelry that is worn into the gym, removed for practice, and then lost or stolen. Closed Practice Policy: Practices will be closed to parents, siblings, friends, grandparents etc. on the second practice day of the week. Ex. If your child has practice on Tues. and Thursday, Thursday practices will be closed to parents. All practices will be closed two weeks prior to a competition. Weekend practices are always closed. This policy in not intended for siblings that are enrolled on another Cheer Magic team. Parents are welcome to enter the gym 10 minutes prior to practice ending. Tumbling classes are always open for parents to view. Competition Attendance: Coaches will post specific times related to competition on our team Facebook page, Team App, and Messenger; below is a list of terms to clarify times. Communication: Cheer Magic uses Facebook, Team App and email to keep you informed. Please make yourself familiar with these methods of communication. Monthly newsletters will be available through messenger and the Team App. It is the parent s responsibility to check these communication methods on a regular basis enabling them to stay informed. Communication is crucial for everyone s success. Any questions you have are to be brought to the coach and you will be provided with an acceptable answer in a timely manner. Coaches will not entertain questions regarding decisions about child placement in routine or routine composition. It is imperative that you understand that coaches' decisions are made based on the good of the team, you may personally disagree with the decision, but the coaches decisions will be objective and always based for the best interest of the program, team and individuals. Please be mindful of the fact that routine positions are always fluid and never absolutely "set in stone." Athletes will naturally progress over time, some more rapidly than others. CM recognizes and rewards hard work and dedication. Therefore, it is NOT safe to assume that, because your athlete is doing a certain role in the routine during summer months and even at the time of choreography that he or she will be doing (or not doing) this same thing at the end of the season. You must allow coaches to do their jobs, this is what you are paying CM to do. Please do not interrupt practice to ask about choreography. Team Moms: Cheer Magic will appoint team moms for each team. Team moms are a vital role in the success of our program. They aid in communication between coaches and parents, as well as helping with many roles that need to be filled during comp season. Due to the hectic schedule of events on competition days, coaches are being pulled left and right and Team Moms are the number one point of contact. They will be able to relay messages to us directly and give you any answers you may need, as well as any items you may need. Please DO NOT call a coach on a competition day for any reason, doing so may affect a warmup or a performance on the mat as our phones are used to supply music for teams. CHEERLEADER S OBLIGATIONS: Arrive to practice on time in practice wear, hair pulled back and secured tightly out of the face. Participate in all aspects of practice. This includes but is not limited to stretch, team building games, stunts, tumbling, conditioning, jumps, and demonstrations. Come to practice with a positive attitude, ready to achieve new skills. Give 100%! Be encouraging to your teammates. No gum, candy, snacks, or sodas are allowed during practice. Avoid junk food before practice. Water bottles are allowed during designated break times and must be kept off all matted areas. Do not wear jewelry or body jewelry You are expected to wait patiently, without disruptive behavior, until your practice begins. Be respectful to all coaches and parents. Do not disrupt other athletes in classes. Visits with parents or friends are to be completed before practice begins. We do not allow lewd language, eye rolling, talking back, or any kind of disrespect. All athletes must wait inside of the building to be picked up. Athletes are not allowed on gym equipment until they are called in for practice. Commit yourself 100% to your squad for the full competitive season! PARENTAL OBLIGATIONS: Follow attendance policy. Bring your child to practice on time.

Fulfill all financial obligations on time. Failure to pay on time will result in late fees and possible dismissal from team. No refunds will be given in the event of dismissal. Be completely honest about your child s athletic capability and actual skill level. Help your child love their gym time; don t coach him/her on the way to the gym, on the way home, at the competition, over the gym barriers, etc. Do not make suggestions to the coaches on how to run practice. Don t compare the skill of your child as well as the courage, attitude, and accomplishments with that of other members of the squad or any other children. Teach him/her to enjoy the thrill of competition, to be out there trying, working to improve skills and attitudes, to take the physical bumps and come back for more. Get to know the coaches so that you are assured of their philosophy, attitude, ethics and knowledge, and are happy to expose your child to them. Do not come on mat during practice. Realize that some practices will run over, please be patient and understand it is for the betterment of the squad. Under no circumstances are parents allowed backstage at competitions. In the case of having a parent squad, parent athletes are not allowed back stage unless it is time for you to perform. Parents must understand that competitions are NOT vacations and that athletes' time and focus should be fully committed to the team through the entire event. If a parent/guardian cannot attend an out of town event, you will arrange for another CM parent or responsible adult to travel with your athlete to and from the event, and to be responsible for the athlete during the entire event. Refrain from using any social networking, messaging services or electronic media to distribute negative or inappropriate information that could be detrimental to yourself, your family, and the Cheer Magic Allstars, LLC or reputation in any way. This is grounds for immediate dismissal from the program. Parents should not listen, participate in, or instigate idle, worthless gossip. Defer to the coaches discretion regarding team decisions. Inevitably, we will lose team members through the course of a season. Any dismissal or addition of a team member is solely at the discretion of the coaches or owner. Withholding a child from practice or competition should never be used as a form of punishment. This punishes not only your child but every other team member and parent. Refrain from threatening to quit or pull their child from a team. This is unacceptable parent behavior that will not be tolerated. Any such threats will subject parents to disciplinary actions, including removal from the team.
