Setion 3 - Produt Instlltion, Wiring, nd Bttery Informtion Instlling the Trolling Motor 1. Remove the two side pnel srews from eh side of the dek mount. Gently pull the side pnels wy from the dek mount, tking re not to dmge the loting ts, nd remove the side pnels from oth sides of the trolling motor. - Side pnel srews - Loting t 2. If you re repling n existing MotorGuide or ompetitive rnd trolling motor on your urrent ot, hek if the existing mounting holes lign with the new dek mount efore drilling new holes. Ensure tht the mounting lotion meets the requirements listed in Step 4. 3. If new holes re not required to mount the trolling motor, skip hed to Step 7. 53446 4. Crefully selet n pproprite re on the dek of the ot lose to the enterline to instll the trolling motor. Ensure tht the forwrd mounting olts will not penetrte the hull. Hve n ssistnt hold the trolling motor in position while the mounting lotion is eing seleted. IMPORTANT: The mounting position must e tested in the stowed nd deployed positions efore drilling the mounting holes. IMPORTANT: Choose n re on the dek with 10.2 m (4.0 in.) of lerne etween the ow of the ot nd the dek mount to prevent interferene etween the trolling motor nd the ow roller when loding or unloding on steep rmp. IMPORTANT: Ensure tht the hed does not protrude eyond the em of the ot when in the stowed position. IMPORTANT: A minimum lerne of 13 mm (0.5 in.) is required etween the motor olumn nd the ru ril on the ot when the trolling motor is deployed. Mounting position with 10.2 m (4.0 in.) lerne from the ow 5. Ple the trolling motor onto the dek of the ot t the seleted lotion in the stowed position. Use the dek mounting rket s templte nd mrk the lotion of the mounting holes. IMPORTANT: Four mounting holes (two on eh side) re required to seurely mount the trolling motor. There re seven mounting hole positions to hoose from on eh side of the dek mounting rket. Choose two hole positions on eh side tht work the est with your ot onfigurtion. IMPORTANT: Selet mounting hole lotions s fr prt s prtil on eh side of the dek mounting rket for the most seure mounting. 53447 53448 Mounting hole lotions sme on oth sides 6. Drill the mounting holes with 8 mm (5/16 in.) drill it. Remove ny deris.

Setion 3 - Produt Instlltion, Wiring, nd Bttery Informtion IMPORTANT: To help prevent rking on fierglss deks, use ountersink it or lrger drill it to ountersink the mounting holes. 7. Align the dek mounting rket to the holes in the dek. On fierglss ots with no rpet where the motor is eing instlled, instll the ruer isoltors etween the ot dek nd the dek mounting rket. Instll three stinless steel mounting olts through the mounting holes on one side of the dek mounting rket. Instll wsher nd nylok nut onto eh olt, ut do not tighten them t this time. NOTE: If the trolling motor is eing mounted to rpeted ot dek, the ruer isoltors re not required. d e f d e f - Dek mounting rket - Mounting olt - Ruer isoltor d - Dek e - Wsher f - Nylok nut g - Crpet 8. Gr onto the motor olumn nd rise the unolted side of the dek mounting rket. Instll the olts through the dek mounting holes while holding the dek mounting rket t n ngle. Holding the dek mounting rket t n ngle llows the olts to e instlled with less interferene from the foot relese mehnism. Instll wsher nd nylok nut onto eh olt. g 52406 53451 9. Align the trolling motor with the mounting holes in the dek. Hold the mounting olts seurely with 7/16 in. wrenh while using wrenh or soket to tighten the nylok nuts on oth sides of the dek mounting rket from under the dek. 10. Instll the side pnels onto the trolling motor, tking re not to dmge the loting ts. Instll the side pnel srews. - Side pnel srews - Loting t 53446

Setion 3 - Produt Instlltion, Wiring, nd Bttery Informtion Reommended Prtie nd Proedures IMPORTANT: Unplug the trolling motor fter eh use nd when hrging the ttery. Do not use the min engine ttery to power the trolling motor. Ensure tht the tteries re enlosed within ttery ox to prevent identl shorting of the ttery terminls. Route the trolling motor wires on the opposite side of the ot from other ot wiring. Connet ot essories diretly to the min engine ttery. Do not hrge the trolling motor tteries while the trolling motor is in the deployed (down) position. Bttery Reommendtions Use 12 volt, deep yle mrine tteries. The numer of tteries required vries ording to the model of your trolling motor. Refer to Bttery Connetion. As generl rule, deep yle tteries with higher mp hour rting or reserve pity rting will provide longer run times nd etter performne. Instll mnul reset iruit reker in line with the trolling motor positive leds within 180 m (72 in.) of the tteries. Do not extend the inluded 10 guge ttery les more thn 1.8 m (6 ft) for totl of 3 m (10 ft). If longer ttery les re required, MotorGuide offers essory 13 mm (6 guge) ttery les. Use nylok nuts to seure the ttery les to their terminls. Using wing nuts to seure the ttery les n use loose onnetions. Any depth sounders or fish finders must e powered from the engine strting ttery. Instll the new tteries in the proper orienttion for orret polrity. 4. Ensure the ruer sel is positioned orretly round the ttery over plte. - AA lkline tteries - Ruer sel 51761 5.
