NOC SERVICES UPDATE SPORTS UPDATE IOC YOG AMBASSADORs LEARN & SHARE VOLUNTEER & ENGAGEMENT MASCOT & EMBLEM KEY DATES NOC plug-in to the YOG The 2 nd Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer 2016 EDITION 3, NOVEMBER 2014 Dear Friends, Lillehammer 2016 had a good delegation present as observers during the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing this August. Congratulations to NYOGOC and the whole city of Nanjing for hosting a very successful 2 nd Summer Youth Olympic Games. The atmosphere in the Youth Olympic Village, the interaction between athletes across sports and nationality was an impressive sight. The athletes I have spoken to said it really made an impression on them! Let me also take the opportunity to thank NYOGOC for their positiveness and their openness that allowed us to make some very good observations and experiences. Progress in Lillehammer is going according to schedule. This summer and early fall we have spent a lot of time working on the venues, identifying the various client needs and location of the different operations. This venue mapping is about to be summarized and will give us a clear indication of what work needs to be done. As mentioned in the 2 nd Plug-in to the YOG, we will use the already existing venues from the Olympic Games in Lillehammer 94. However this is with a small exception: as curling was not on the programme in 94 a new curling venue has been built in addition to a second ice rink for ice hockey. The major building project and what will remain as one of the most important legacies after Lillehammer 2016 is the new student housing that will be part of the Youth Olympic Village in Lillehammer. Recruiting young leaders and a new generation of volunteers is a major goal for us. In this edition you will find some updates on how we progress and what actions we do in this regard. Interest has been high among the youth and we look forward working with them leading up to February 2016! As we speak, the first light drizzle of snow has started to fall over the mountains in the Lillehammerregion. We hope for a good winter that will give good conditions for sport. We wish your athletes best of luck as they now proceed into the qualification period! LYOGOC will hold a progress report at ANOC General Assembly in Bangkok and Head of NOC Service & Relations Guro Lium will be present at EOC General Assembly in Baku. With warm regards, Tomas Holmestad CEO

In addition, the athletes and coaches will celebrate the spirit of friendship and the YOG spirit on a mandatory half day event, fully focused on Learn & Share content.
