Aaron says "I work and shoot with my brother every week; you cannot put a price tag on opportunities like that." Steve's story is a little different than most professional shooters. Steve did not grow up shooting and hunting. It wasn't until he became a Christian in college when his passion for shooting and hunting began. RICE CREEK SHOOTING ADVENTURES Thanks to all who have supported youth hunting and shooting opportunities, they will be the sportspersons of our future. We especially thank - Northwest Suburban Pheasant Forever Chapter for providing 10 scholarships, Morrison County Pheasants Forever Chapter and Jim Lack for providing one scholarship each. They are responsible for helping at least 12 kids for most to all of their camp costs. If you are interested in helping a youth come to our camps, please call Krista or Gregg at the office. Our future depends on it! Rice Creek Shooting Adventure for Youth - Educating Hunters and Shooters for the Future Beginner & Advanced Shooting Adventures: We have had two types of camps; a Beginner Firearms Safety Adventure for 11-13 year old and an Advanced Shooting Adventure (youths with their Firearm Safety already) for ages 12-15. Campers at the Beginners Shooting Adventure achieve their Firearm Safety certificate with classroom, field experience and hands-on learning. The campers fill up their afternoons with fun, educational outdoor activities. Much time is spent on how to actually hunt pheasants, with the highlight of the adventure ending with an actual pheasant/chukar hunt. The Advanced Shooting Adventure is similar to the Beginners Adventure but, of course, does not include 20 hours required by the firearm safety training. In the Advanced Shooting Adventure, there is much more actual shooting; mostly at sporting clays, and an even bigger pheasant/chukar hunt at the end. New Pro-Advanced Shooting Adventure: Our camps have been very popular, the youth first come to our camp at age 11 and we see them year after year until they turn 16. We have been asked many times from our former campers to host a camp for ages 15+. Hunters 15 to 17 are invited to apply to come to our Pro Advanced Shooting Adventure in July. This adventure will involve shooting at least 12-14 boxes of shells in four days, bow shooting, afternoon activities, Rice Creek shooting competition, pheasant/chukar hunt, actual cooking lessons and actual cooking of the pheasant/chukar, and a whole lot more!
