HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!! Greater Midwest Classics celebrates our 25th Anniversary this spring. The GMC Greater Midwest Classics motorhome club was formed in the spring of 1991, and is a chapter of the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA). In the fall of 1990, a group of Midwest area GMC owners were attending the GMC International convention at Mackinaw, MI. A sign was put up asking all the Minnesota GMC owners to meet with the idea of forming a Midwest area club. In 1991 letters were sent out by Fritz Kruschel and Harold Neumann for the first rally, which was held at the KOA campground in Rogers, MN on May 11th and 12th, 1991. Bob & Yvonne Miller were in attendance and Yvonne Miller was elected Secretary/Treasurer. Dues were set at $5.00 per year. The next rally was at Breezy Point, MN on June 28th-30th. At this rally the name of Great Midwest Classics was chosen and the area was to include: MN, ND, SD, WI, IA, Manitoba and Ontario. Nebraska would be added at a later date. The GMC Greater Midwest Classics will be recognized at the Midwest Area FMCA Rally, July 13-16, 2016 at the Amana RV Park & Event Center, Amana, Iowa. They hope members of the club will be present to accept the award. We will continue to celebrate this special event all this year at our rallies so keep on the lookout and share your ideas and history. We really need to update the history that is on our web site. I think it only goes to 2007 now. St. Cloud. Taproom Hours Thur Friday. 4pm to 10pm, Sat. 2pm to 10pm GMCMI REPORT on Dothan AL rally We met for a gorgeous week of great weather at the National Peanut Festivals grounds and as always, it was a great venue for our gathering. We had 118 coaches registered, with 16 registering on site. We had 9 without motorhomes and 3 of those couples were looking to purchase one. We had 11 1 st timers and they jumped right in to help with everything from decorating, to clean up, to serving ice cream, serving breakfast, and even serving as Vanna Ladies for the Pineblock Derby. Pineblock Derby winners were Paul Array and Mardie Array. Laurie Burton continues to share her tips on how to make your racer go zoom zoom! We had 22 folks become CPR certified and the instructors were superb, best I ve ever had. While those of us were becoming certified, a group traveled by bus to Ft. Rucker for a very worthwhile trip through history. We always eat well at these gatherings with the Sunshine Statesmen making pancakes one day; the Ladies hosted the Back to the 50 s luncheon and we had a fashion show with poodle skirts and Pink Lady jackets in abundance. While the ladies were eating their typical lunch of hamburgers and coke, the men were enjoying homemade bean soup and corn bread, all of which was prepared by Dan Meyers and his capable band of merry men!! We ventured into the land of homemade waffles this rally, which was a huge hit, and Dave Lenzi and Eric Tanner made sure everything ran smoothly. Tom and Marilyn Phipps brought the idea of crock pot breakfast casserole to us one morning and that too was a major success. Fred Hudspeth did share our current financial status. We have $61,000 in reserve and that s over a 34 year history. Our membership is flagging, (as are many groups). A raise in dues would only be a temporary fix. He feels we should continue to support Kim s

initiatives that she has instituted as they have been producing positive results. (If anyone is interested in the specific membership numbers I have them and would be happy to share them with you at one of our rallies). Lots of talk about the summer rally in Branson, MO and registration is now open. Dates are June 25 th to July 1 st. The KOA is looking forward to our coming and they have opened the whole campground to us. Registration information can be found on the website and in the latest issue of the Vintage RV Magazine. Comments about the magazine have been very positive and it has resulted in folks joining GMCMI. Watch for upcoming information about registering for the Fall rally in Mansfield OH, and I will try and keep you updated on GMCMI news and views! Lucy Weidner FALL RALLY SEPTEMBER 30 - OCTOBER 6, 2016 Greater Midwest Classics will hold their Fall rally in conjuction with the GMCMI rally Sept 30, to Oct 6 in Mansfield, Ohio. Midge Glenna is sunshine lady so send her the name of anyone needing a little sunshine and Midge will send them a card. Her phone # is: 715-426-5650.
