MMHS Eagle HighFLIGHTS: 4-10-17 *MMHS Drama Team: The MMHS Drama Team just completed 2 days of Region competition. Our One Act play received Straight Superior ratings and received 3 of the 6 Judges Awards for Best Actress (Chloe Henry), Best Supporting Actress (Sophie Hill), and Outstanding Design and Tech. Besides the individual awards for each student, our school also took home several chapter awards. And Cheyenne Davies was awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Thank you all for being so supportive of our awesome 96 FCCLA members this year! We're Nashville bound come July! If you see these students, please congratulate them! *MMHS Dance: The Dance 3 class, known as Dance Excel also attended and performed at the dance company festival and adjudication (DCFA). Congratulations goes out to Gweneth Perry and Makenzie Smith for receiving the award of excellence for superior choreography. Way to go Dance Excel! Congratulations to the Dance Company for their amazing performance at the Dance Company Festival and Adjudication (DCFA) this year. Addie Black, Lynnae Randall, and Kimber Higginbotham received Superior scores for their choreography. Addie Black's piece also won the "judges choice" award. Shaelynn Duncan and Muriel Langdon's choreography have both been chosen to represent MMHS at the Utah State Dance Competition in April. Way to go MMDC! *Nebo District Student Dress and Grooming Policy: With the warm weather upon us and that time of year when everyone wants to wear their fun summer clothing, we would like to remind our students (and parents) of the district s dress and grooming policy, as listed below. We appreciate your support in adhering to this policy! Student Dress and Grooming (Student Handbook Pg 48): 3. SPECIFIC STANDARDS: 3.1 Students shall comply with the following dress and grooming standards at school and at school activities or events: 3.1.1 Clothing will be modest, neat, clean, and in good repair. Modesty includes covering shoulders, midriff, back, underwear, and cleavage. 3.1.2 Inappropriately short, tight, or revealing shorts, skirts, dresses, tank tops, halter or crop tops, and spaghetti strap tops are prohibited. Skirts, dresses, and shorts must be at least mid-thigh length when the student is sitting. Students who do not adhere to this policy will be asked to call home and make arrangements with a parent or guardian to have a change of clothing brought to the school. We appreciate your support and cooperation as we try our best to enforce this policy. *MMHS Volleyball Player & Parent Meeting TODAY: MMHS Volleyball has a player and parent meeting for next year s team today at 7pm in the MMHS main gym, for anyone interested in playing volleyball next year. *Especially for Athletes Fundraiser: Especially for Athletes (E4A) is sponsoring a penny fundraiser drive to benefit Tabitha's Way. We are asking anyone associated with the Maple Mountain family to donate your saved pennies by bringing them to the main office. This event will run for the next 4 or 5 weeks. A generous supporter of our school will match our donation. MMHS Dance Company Auditions *National Honor Society: National Honor Society applications for the 2017-2018 school year are available in the Library for all sophomore and junior students interested in joining. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Up to three (3) entries allowed per student. One (1) entry per medium allowed per student. Entries should be emailed to concurrent@uvu.edu. Images should be in JPEG format with the image resolution set to 300 dpi and with approximately a 4 X 6 inch image size. Image files should use the following naming convention: ArtistFirstNameLastName_TitleOfArtwork.jpeg Please include the following information in the body of the email: Student Name High School Telephone Number Email Address For each entry, please list the title, medium (ie. Watercolor, Photograph, etc.) and dimensions in inches. For example: Monalisa, Leonardo DaVinci, Oil, 12 x 14 SELECTION PROCESS: Submissions will be reviewed by a committee of local artists representing a variety of genres. Final selection and awards will be determined by the Jurors. (Artists of note who have been asked to judge the exhibition and make selections for awards.) You will be notified by April 20, 2017, via email, if your artwork has been selected to participate in the juried exhibition. LOCATION: If your artwork is selected to participate in the juried exhibition, it will be displayed at the Woodbury Art Museum at University Place, May 2 - May 12, 2017.
