Natural Equine Tournaments Club 207 Guide Book Welcome to The Natural Equine Tournaments Club. Natural Equine Tournament days give like-minded equestrians a place to have fun and be part of a community, whilst putting their horsemanship skills to purpose, in a range of different disciplines. At each event we will hold a range of Tournaments. Below are details on the regular Tournaments planned. The Tournaments Gymkhana We love Gymkhana! This is a great opportunity to have giggle; certainly for the young at heart! The Gymkhana can be done on the ground or in the saddle. It will generally consist of 6 different games, which will include games such as: Bending Poles, Egg & Spoon Race, Sack Race, Flag Race, Water Race and Musical Statues!! Barrel Racing Barrel Racing is a timed Tournament which can be done on the ground or in the saddle, with or without a bridle.

Speed Events Set over a set distance; things like, fastest walk, slowest trot etc. These Tournaments are done individually Handy Pony Our favourite class as kids! Handy Pony really puts your relationship with your pony to the test, over a series of obstacles. This can be done on the ground or in the saddle, Online or at Liberty! It will include things like: Putting your horse s feet on something, opening and closing a gate, dragging/moving items, being able to keep your feet still, backing up, a jump, crossing water and all sorts of other challenges! Example Handy Pony Score Sheet Natural Equine Tournament Handy Pony Names: Score: Time: This event will be timed, when you hit the maximum time you will be asked to finish and your score will calculated into a percentage, if same scores time will be deciding factor. Show Jumping At our Show Jumping Tournaments, you can take part on the ground or in the saddle, at Liberty, with or without a bridle! Each rider will get a score sheet at the end of the day. On the day we will have a board where you can add your name so you know approximately what time your entry will be, or you can come along after everyone on the board has taken part. Natural Equine Tournament Show Jumping Date: Names: Score: Time: This score is calculated by adding penalties for faults and going over time. Then penalties are deducted from Horsemanship scores, time is then taken into consideration placing Penalty Details per penalty Score Obstacle knock down No eliminations 4 Exceeding time for every four sec's over Rapport Refusal, run out, bolting, on individual situations 4 Total Horsemanship Scores Maximum Horsemanship Doing the right thing for you and your horse 0 Harmony aids, impulsion, flow 0 Turn-out Horse Horse presentation 0 Turn- out Human Human Presentation 0 Wow Factor 0's might be things like, ON from a distance, stick to me in perfect harmony, bridleless with no visual corrections, perfect flexion 0 Total 3

Be aware of other people and other horses safety comes first. Respect the venue and keep it clean and tidy. Our biggest rule Have fun, put the horse first and support each other! 7

Tips. Always put your relationship with your horse first you will be scored highly for it! For example, in Handy Pony, if you know an obstacle will be harder for your horse, leave it to the end. Always set your horse up for success. 2. Horse and human turnout: The score is not all about being in the perfect show outfit, although we love that too! It s just as much about making an effort you and your horse being turned out well and appropriately. We love to have fun so be creative, but always stay safe! 3. Plan your day around your horse. There is no need to sign up for each tournament, so decide what to do first once you re there and if your horse isn t ready yet, spend your time finding relaxation in a new environment. 4. Make sure you print off, read and practice the Dressage tests before the day. 5. Get your horse confident with umbrellas, gymkhana flags, opening and closing gates and dragging objects. These things are always scarier in new environments! 6. Don t worry about winning, just progressing with your horse. You can always win next time! 8
