This regulation is a summary of the Portuguese regulation REGULATION ULTRA MADEIRA 1 st Edition 1. Presentation - AARAM Associação de Atletismo da Região Autónoma da Madeira it s the organiser of the event ULTRA MADEIRA, 1 st edition, that will be held on the 23rd of September 2017, in absolute respect with the environment. This is the last event of CIRCUITO TRAIL MADEIRA, season 2016-17, and its also Madeira Trail Championship (CRT)/Trail Ultra (CRTU). - The ULTRA MADEIRA it s a trail running event in Madeira Island with 4 different races: ULTRA MADEIRA 85,1 km and 3622 metres height gain (Linear format) REGIONAL ULTRA TRAIL CHAMPIONSHIP (ABSOLUT); TRAIL 30,1 km and 1498 metres height gain (Linear format) REGIONAL TRAIL CHANPIONSHIP (ABSOLUT); TRAIL 17,1 km and 398 metres height gain (Linear format) REGIONAL TRAIL CHAMPIONSHIP (JUNIOR s); Mini Trail 5 km and 198 metres height gain (Linear format) REGIONAL TRAIL CHAMPIOSHIP (JUVENILES). 1.1. Age requirements for each race. ULTRA MADEIRA - Seniors our Veterans ( 20 years old); TRAIL 30K Seniors our Veterans ( 20 years old); TRAIL 17K Juniors, Seniors our Veterans ( 18 years old); Mini Trail Juveniles, Juniors, Seniors our Veterans ( 16 years old). 2. Races 2.1. Race s presentation

- The ULTRA MADEIRA is a full cross of Madeira Island, passing by the most emblematic places. - The ULTRA MADEIRA take start on the most western point of the Island, Ponta do Pargo (famous lighthouse), heading to the Plateau of Paul da Serra, and then to the Mountain Massif, crossing the 3 highest peaks of Madeira. Then the race goes East, towards the fisherman village of Caniçal, with the finish line located at the Whale Museum. - Because of major reasons, the itinerary and times can be changed. 2.2. Distances, height meters, time limit and category. Approx. Map, Altitude profile and course. - The ULTRA MADEIRA route is a mix of single trails, dirt roads, Levadas (irrigation channels) and some asphalt/cement roads. Some parts of the route are on public ways. Runners must pay attention of vehicles, animals and persons sharing the same path. Special attention to the intersections! - The organisation will provide the course GPS Track. At race day runners must follow the race signalization and volunteers on the terrain. 2.4. Time limit - The ULTRA MADEIRA is composed by 4 races, with time limit to finish. - These barriers are calculated considering many variables. - Runners must exit the checkpoint before the time barrier.

- Barred athletes can proceed and they own responsibility, without bib number and in full autonomy (no longer in race). - Time barriers can be change due to weather and security reasons. - Time barriers are available at the website. 3. Registration 3.1. Registration process (Webpage, Payment) - Registering at ULTRA MADEIRA the runner accept this regulation. - Registrations are only accepted online at www.ultratrailmadeira.com and must be made and paid until the deadline as in the schedule. - All the registration details must be correct, in order to be accepted by the insurance company and others. - Payment methods: Credit Card / Paypal / Multibanco (Portugal only). - The registration is personal and can t be sold our changed to other person. - Any question must be emailed to: ultramadeira@gmail.com 3.2. Times and registration cost s. - Registration will work from 1st of may and 31st of August 2017. Races Time limit: 31/08/17 ULTRA - CRTU (85 km) 40,00 Affiliated to AARAM* 30,00 CRT (30 km) 25,00 Affiliated to AARAM* 20,00 TRAIL (17 km) 15,00 Affiliated to AARAM* 12,00 Mini Trail (5 km) 10,00 Affiliated to AARAM* 7,50 *AARAM is the Madeira Island Athletics Association - Until the deadline, changing races are available, paying the extra fee if changing to higher race. No refund will be made if changing for a lower race.

3.3. Refund conditions - Refunds are only made with medical proof of facts that happened only after the race registration. - Refund s must be emailed to ultramadeira@gmail.com. You must attach the medical proof. - The organisation will not freeze the registrations. - Conditions for the refunds: Until 30/06/2017 From 1/07 to 31/08/2017 From 31/08/2017 50% refund 25% refund No refund - In case of event cancelation due to natural causes (storm, hurricane, severe weather condition) the organization will refund a part of the registration excluding the effective costs until that day. 3.4. Registration includes: - Personal insurance and liability Insurance. - Personalized bib with timing tag. - Official event t-shirt (vary according to each race) Options: - Relaxing massage at the finish line, paid locally to the provider (FREE for runners of ULTRA Madeira 85km). 3.5. Event center (Check-in). Other services 3.5.1 Check-in will work from 20-22 September at AARAM headquarters and other location near the event center, in Caniçal (Machico). To make the check-in, runners must have the following: - Passport our other government ID. - Liability term (Completed and signed). 3.6. Services (Transportation, Massage, Showers, etc.) 3.6.1 Services included on registration.

- Solid and liquids supplies while in race, at the designated checkpoints. - First-aid at finish line and some checkpoints. - Transportation to the start of each race. - Transportation to the finish line, in case of retirement our being stop by the organization. - Showers. - Relaxing massage (Free only for participants at ULTRA MADEIRA 85Km) - Cocktail (Prize-giving ceremony) 3.7. Physical condition. - Runners must be conscious of the distance and difficulties of the race and be autonomous between checkpoints, regardless the weather condition (sun, rain, fog, etc.) and must be prepared enough to finish the race. 3.8. Outside help/personal assistance - Its possible to receive personal assistances only in the designated checkpoints. Its not permitted to receive professional personal assistance (medical / PT) 3.9. Bib - The bib number must be visible at all time, on the chest our abdomen position (not on the back our legs). Not visible bib number can be penalized, according to the number 7 of this regulation. 3.10. Sporting behaviour - The ULTRA MADEIRA promotes and highlight the Fair-Play. Runners MUST help any other participant during the race and contact the organization immediately. - The organization can exclude any participant, even before the race start, if a participant show bad behaviour that can condition the event. The participant will not be refunded. - Sanctions for bad behaviour vary ad are listed and the number 7 of this regulation. 3.11. Responsibilities - Participants at ULTRA MADEIRA agree to run and their own responsibility at the competition. Participants cannot ask to the organization, volunteers and authorities any responsibility that excludes what we offer.

Note: Because of major reasons, times and places can be changed. 5. Time taking / Checkpoints 5.1. Timing system - The organization will use the MyLaps Sports Timing. - Participants will use the bib with integrated tag. Its forbidden to remove the tag from the bib number. - Manual control will also be made at checkpoints. - Runners arriving at the start of each race more than 15 minutes after the start will be declassified. 5.2. Checkpoints - Its mandatory to check at every checkpoint designated by the organization. Missing a checkpoint means declassification. - Surprise checkpoints will be find on the way, to prevent shortcuts. - Runners must retire at the checkpoints, except they are injured severely. - The organization can change the place of checkpoints with no prior information. The start of the race can be delayed for 2 hours in case of severe weather, after this the race will be cancelled and no refund is done. - During the race, in case of severe weather, the organization can change time barriers, neutralize, reduce our even cancel the race. No refund is done. 5.3. Checkpoint places - At checkpoints food and drinks are available to use locally (cup is mandatory). Camelbacks can only be fill with water. Runners will find liquids/solids and only liquids checkpoints, as designated by the organization. - First-aid will be available at finish line and some checkpoints. Runners must help other runners in difficulties. Runners must accomplish medical recommendations. 6. Mandatory equipment / Verification - Runners must have all the mandatory equipment during all the race. At any time verifications can be made by race officials. Penalties list at article 7.

- The top 3 male and female of each race will be verified at the finish line. Random verifications will also made at the finish. Solar protector - Participants must check the conditions of the equipment and be sure that everything is working well. 7. Penalties / Declassification - Race directors and marshals will ensure that everyone accomplish this regulation. Penalties can be given as the table below. Use trails not signalized for the race that is not considered a shortcut. Insurance - The organiser has a liability insurance and personal accident insurance during the whole event. - In case of accident, the participant must call the organization, that then will take care of your case and follow up to the most adequate health center, with the insurance form filled and stamped by the organiser. If the case is a emergency, the participant goes directly to the hospital and then we make the procedures. - Participants must keep all the documents and receipts of bills paid caused by the accident. - All the cases must be reported to the organization no more than 24h00 after the accident.

9. Prizes and categories 9.1. Prize-giving ceremony - The prize-giving ceremony will be held on Sunday, 24 of September, at 12h30, at Whale Museum (Caniçal). 9.2. Results and prizes - The winner of each race will be the participant with less time, including penalties that can be applied. - Will be classified al runners that crossed all the checkpoints and finish line. - The team s classification will be the 3 best times of each team. - No prize-money will be given. - Participants with prize must be at the ceremony - The organization will not send any trophy outside Madeira Island. - Prizes will follow this table: ULTRA 85K - CRTU Male Female General Trophy for the top 3 Trophy for the top 3 CRTU - GENERAL Trophy for the top 3 Trophy for the top 3

Definition of age groups and team - The age groups are defined as the table below. - To be classified as a team, the team must have 3 runners from the same gender. Deadlines for complains - Complains must be written to the race director with a reserve of 20 (non refund if complain loss) two hours after the arrival of the participant in question. Complain must contain the name of the complainer, ID our passport, name of all persons involved, bib numbers and the reasons. Provisional results can be complained until 30min after being posted - The referee comity is composed by the race director, the president our vice-president of AARAM and a third person expert in the competition - The referee comity will pronounce before the final results post. - Participants still have 24h00 to complain about the final results. 10. Updates and notes 10.1 Image rights and advertising - The organization have full exclusive rights of image of ULTRA MADEIRA and photography and journalistic of the event. All projects and advertising projects must be approved by the organization. - Its mandatory to use the advertising material supplied by the organization, such bib number, stickers, etc. 10.2 Data protection - All the data collected at the registration will be used for entry list and results, insurance and news. Participant data can be modify our erased sending a email to ultramadeira@gmail.com

10.3 Modifications This rules can be modified, changed and upgrades at anytime with no prior warning. 10.4 Others If some aspect is not figure at this regulation, the race officials will decide together. v.1 01.05.2017
