TACOMA RAINIERS GAME DAY INFORMATION CHENEY STADIUM 2502 S. TYLER ST. TACOMA, WA 98405 PH: (253) 752-7707 FAX: (253) 752-7135 www.tacomarainiers.com Saturday, May 10, at 7:00 P.M. Tacoma Rainiers (17-15) at Las Vegas 51s (25-10) Game 33 (17-15) Cashman Field, Las Vegas, NV RHP Andrew Carraway (2-1, 3.38) vs. RHP Noah Syndergaard (4-2, 3.58) Road Game 17 (8-8) ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Rainiers fell at Reno 11-7 in Tacoma s series finale with the Aces at Aces Ballpark on Friday night. Ty Kelly headlined for Tacoma in the contest after going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI, including a two-run double that provided an early 2-0 lead in the first. Jabari Blash, Jesus Montero and Leury Bonilla each turned in two-hit efforts as the Rainiers lineup collected a combined 11 hits. Humberto Quintero added a two-out, two-rbi single in the third. Starter James Gillheeney was dealt the loss after surrendering five runs on five hits over 2.1 innings. The right-hander walked two and struck out five. Lucas Luetge tossed 2.2 shutout innings after relieving Gillheeney in the third. Right-handers Logan Kensing (2.0) and Jonathan Arias (1.0) surrendered six runs - five earned - on six hits in the game s final three innings. The loss served Tacoma a four-game series split with the Aces. TOSS YOUR CARRAWAY: Since allowing a seasonhigh six runs over 4.2 innings in his 2014 debut on April 12, Raniers starter Andrew Carraway has gone on to surrender just four earned runs over his next four starts (22.0IP, 1.64 ERA). The right-hander has struck out 21 and walked three over that stretch. FAMILIAR FOE: The Rainiers and 51s enter tonight s series opener at Cashman Field having faced each other a total of seven times over their last 15 games. Assuming each of the four games this series is played as scheduled, 11 of Tacoma s first 36 games this season will have been played against Las Vegas (30.6%). POWER COUPLE: The Rainiers and Vegas enter tonight s game ranked first and second in all of Triple-A baseball in batting average. Tacoma tops the PCL and International League hitting.308 (330x1070) and averaging 5.5 runs per game. The 51s are batting.300 (373x1242) and have averaged 7.1 runs per contest this season. TY CANDY: Ty Kelly turned in his third season-high three-hit game since April 25 on Friday. Over 13 games since that date, the infielder in batting.432 (16x37) with 17 runs scored and 13 RBI, and has raised overall average from.146 to.268. Kelly ranks second in the league in walks drawn (27) and successfully reached base in 24 of 28 games featuring an at-bat this season. DOUBLE STANDARDS: The seven doubles the Rainiers hit on Friday equal the most hit by any PCL team in a game this season. That total also serves as the highest number of two-baggers Tacoma has recorded since hitting eight on June 24, 2013 against Fresno. TIME LAPSE: The Rainiers closed out the series at Reno playing their two longest games so far this season, with the average time of each game coming in at three hours and 49 minutes. Tacoma is now 10-7 in games that exceed three hours. STRIKING NUMBERS: Despite striking out a season-high 11 times on Friday, the Rainiers have fanned only 213 times through 32 games, averaging 6.7 K s per contest - the lowest strikeout rate in the league. Tacoma has led the PCL in strikeouts in three of the last four seasons. CHRIS T. TIME: Chris Taylor has hit safely in 22 of his last 25 games, batting.389 (42x108) with 16 extra-base hits and 15 RBI dating back to April 11. Since that date, the infielder has raised his batting average from.136 to.341 (44x129) - ninth-best in the PCL. Taylor also sits tied for fourth in the league in doubles (12) and tied for fifth in hits (44). STEALING GLANCES: After stealing 38 bases in 32 games this season, the Rainiers have now swiped five more bags than any other team in Triple-A baseball (33, Indianapolis). Outfielder Xavier Avery accounts for over 36 percent of that total with a PCL-best 14 stolen bases so far this season. Tacoma stole eight bases over the first four games of the team s current road trip. TRAVEL LOG: Tonight begins the second leg of a 12-game, 13-day road trip for the Rainiers - the team s longest of the season. After four-game stops at Reno and Las Vegas, Tacoma rounds out the voyage with a four-game stint at Sacramento. According to Rand McNally, the Rainiers will have traveled approximately 2,444 miles round trip from May 6-18. QUICK STARTS: Tacoma has not had a starting pitcher go longer than 6.0 innings in a game since Blake Beavan tossed 7.0 innings in the team s season-opener on April 4. The Rainiers boast a 6-1 record this season in games featuring a starting pitcher who tosses at least 6.0 innings. RAINIERS ON THE RADIO Every Rainiers game in 2014 can be heard live on KHHO 850 AM, with broadcaster Mike Curto calling the action. The Alaska Airlines Pre-Game Show begins 15 minutes prior to first pitch, and the Miller Lite Post-Game Show immediately follows the final out.
