The infielder turned in his third season-high four-hit effort with the Rainiers this season, beginning with a single in the first inning. He delivered singles again in the third, fifth and eighth frames. Kelly has now hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games featuring a plate appearance. Albuquerque notched a pair of runs in the bottom of the 1st inning before the Rainiers made the team s only appearance on the scoreboard in the top of the second. First baseman Rich Poythress hit a solo shot with one out - his 12th with Tacoma this season - to cut the Rainiers deficit to 2-1. Tacoma s lineup combined to collect 11 hits against Albuquerque. Along with Kelly, Poythress and outfielder Carlos Peguero submitted the Rainiers only other multi-hit efforts after each went 2-for-4. Starter Hector Noesi (3-2) was dealt the loss after surrendering five runs on seven hits through 5.0 innings. The right-hander struck out seven and walked two in his eighth start and 11th appearance with the Tacoma. SECOND LIFE: Tacoma sits six games behind the Salt Lake Bees at second place in the Pacific Northern Division standings - the furthest out of the lead the club has been this season. At 17 games, this stretch matches the longest period the Rainiers have been removed from the top spot in the division this season (16 G, April 11-27). The Rainiers held at least a share of first place for 51 consecutive games from May 27-July 22. TY STYLE: Ty Kelly has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games featuring a plate appearance, batting.375 (21x56) with seven runs scored and five RBI over that stretch. His.347 batting average ranks seventh in the league since his Tacoma debut on July 2. THE BRIAN GAME: After tossing two innings of work out of the bullpen on Friday, Brian Sweeney now ranks fifth in Tacoma franchise history with 144 games played with the Rainiers since The right-hander also ranks third in strikeouts (402), fourth in innings pitched (525.2), tied for fifth in wins and ninth in games started (66). JUNIOR YEARS: It has been exactly 17 years, 11 months, 28 days since Ken Griffey Jr. made his only appearance with the Rainiers on August 13, Griffey will be inducted into the Mariners Hall of Fame during a pre-game ceremony in Seattle today. PEN-TERESTING: The Rainiers bullpen has produced a 2.73 ERA (11ERx36.2IP) through the team s first eight games in the month of August. RUFFIN READY: Chance Ruffin has tossed eight shutout innings and limited opposing hitters to a.200 (6x30) average over five relief appearances since a move to the bullpen on July 26. WHITE NOISE: The Isotopes bullpen features former Rainiers right-hander Sean White. Over parts of four seasons (36 G/24 GS) with Tacoma from , the Pullman, WA native and University of Washington product went 8-12 with a 4.76 ERA (81ERx153.0IP). NATE THE GREAT: Nate Tenbrink ranks 12th in the league with a.346 (18X52) batting average through his first 17 games following the All-Star Break. The infielder has homered five times over his last 15 games to up his season total to 12 - two shy of the career-best 14 home runs he hit over 116 games in GRAND DESIGN: Stefen Romero became the first player in franchise history to hit three grand slams in a single season on Thursday. Over the 54 years of PCL baseball in Tacoma, the club had previously featured 25 players who went deep with the bases loaded twice with the team in one season. Romero accounts for six percent of the 50 grand slams hit in the PCL so far this season.
