For more than 80 years, the community of Palestine has celebrated the Dogwood Trails Festival. The event is a celebration of the beauty of the many dogwood trees in the area. Congratulations to PHS Girls & Boys Soccer on District, Bi-District & Area Championships Girls & Boys Soccer will compete in Regional Quarterfinal Games on Friday, April 5th at Mexia High School Ladycat Soccer vs Lorena Lady Leopards @ 6 pm Wildcat Soccer vs China Spring Cougars @ 8 pm Ticket Cost: $6 Adults/$4 Students 2019-2020 The 2019-2020 calendar includes 173 student days, 187 staff days, eleven staff development days, and three student early release days that will be used to provide half-day professional development for staff. P a ge 2 Wildcat Weekly V olume 7: I ss u e 21 Go Wildcats Athletic Director: Robby Clark Palestine Athletics Girls Soccer The Ladycat Soccer Team defeated the LaVega Lady Pirates (4-0) for the Bi-District Championship on March 30th, and the team went on to defeat the Hamshire-Fannett Lady Horns (3-0) for the Area Championship. The team will play the Lorena Lady Leopards in the Regional Quarterfinals at Mexia High School at 6:00 pm on April 5th. Coach Luis Hernandez Boys Soccer The 4A #1 state ranked Palestine Wildcat Soccer Team defeated the Gatesville Hornets (8-1) for the Bi-District Championship on March 30th. The Wildcats (10-0) victory over the Henderson Lions earned them the Area Championship. The team will play the China Spring Cougars in the Regional Quarterfinals at Mexia High School at 8:00 pm on Friday, April 5th. Coach John Absalom Tennis The Palestine Varsity Tennis Team had another successful tournament, coming home with several trophies and medals from the Taylor Tournament on March 29th. Alex Shiller and Camryn Lupo took first place in mixed doubles and Monique Ybarra took first place in girls singles. Gage Concilio took second place in boys singles; Noel Pouncy and D Michael Bellfield took third place in boys doubles; and Lily Nolan and Ester Egbe took fourth place in girls doubles. PHS Tennis won both boys and girls District Titles and are sending 10 players to Regionals after the second day of district play this week at Madisonville. Monique Ybarra won the girls singles title; Alex Shiller and Camryn Lupo won the mixed doubles gold; and Noel Pouncy and D Michael Bellfield took boys doubles. Joining that group at Regionals will be Salvador Castillo and Bryston Lewis, who took second in boys doubles, and Seth Sheeley and Cassidy Lupo, who took second in mixed doubles. Gage Concilio and Raheal Egbe are alternates at District as each took third in singles. Stage time for the Palestine Choir Tenor-Bass group PHS hosted WHS at the Junior Ambassador April meeting. Guest speaker, Mrs. Celia Polster, spoke to the students about the importance of having a positive self image in order to expand and attain their goals. Lunch was provided by the PHS Culinary Arts Department and Mrs. Michelle Mason, PHS Culinary Arts Instructor. Nicolas Dominguez, Taylor Kelly, and Ashley Kiser Winning District Debate and Extemporaneous Speaking Team!

This student created a house. The roof can open to let sunlight in. The floor can open to go down to safety during a storm. Library time is very important on our campus. The Southside Texas ACE program partners with Curious Museum each Thursday so that students can engage in hands-on activities. Students are allowed to explore and use their creativity to engage in learning fun!
