The ULM Office of Greek Life is so excited about the! We are thrilled that we are going to have the chance in the upcoming weeks to bring ULM Students together throughout this campus to promote Warhawk Spirit and the mission of Greek Life. We want this Greek Week to be one of the best that has been on ULM s Campus. The purpose of Greek Week is meant to highlight all of the good things that Greeks and ULM Students do throughout the course of the year. Greek members are seen all over this campus and community holding leadership positions and doing service projects to promote themselves and Greek Life. Greek Week is going to be used this year to give all ULM Students a chance to come together and appreciate what they have done for everyone. We want to challenge every chapter on this campus to make this Greek Week the one that we talk about in the future to come as being the, LUCK OF THE WARHAWK! There is a packet about Greek Week attached to this letter, and it explains all the rules, regulations and information about the events that are going on throughout the week. As you can see this year s theme is Luck of the Warhawk Every student organization needs to make sure that they read all the information provided in this packet and that they understand it. Please refer to the Office of Greek Life to answer any questions that your student organization may have about Greek Week, or how to improve any aspect of the week for next year. Much thought and planning has gone on through the process of planning all the Greek Week events. We are very fortunate this year to have a Greek Chapters will to donate their time and effort to this event, and we would like to thank them for all the hard work they have done throughout all this planning. Thank you for all your time and effort through this Greek Week process, and we hope that your organization s involvement in will be extremely valuable to your student group. Battle of the Sexes: The Battle of the Sexes is on Monday Night, March 12 th from 7 PM to 9 PM in SUB Ballrooms. Student Organizational members will have the opportunity to answer trivia questions about the opposite sex. This will be a fun way to see which sex reigns supreme and knows the most about the opposite gender. Representatives from each organization will be eligible for to earn points. A sign-up sheet for participates is included in this packet. Manage your Career & Health Workshop: On Wednesday Night at 6pm the Division of Student Affairs is sponsoring a Manage Your Career& Health Night & Workshop for all ULM Students to learn about what they need to do in order to be successful after they leave ULM. Topics and activities will included: facebook, resume workshop, interview techniques, dress, and how to make the most out of your college experience. Plus the ULM Student Health Center will be presenting a program about your health and awareness as a college student. Letters in the Quad: Any ULM Student Organization who has wooden letters may set them up in the Quad grassy areas starting Sunday night March 11 th until Saturday night March 17th. Letters cannot block sidewalks or be placed on the concrete anywhere in the quad. The ULM posting policy must be followed at all times during Greek Week and can be found online in the ULM Student Policy Manual at www.ulm.edu/studentpolicy/. Page 7

Leadership Workshop Series: Daniel Packard Daniel Packard, the Dating Doctor from Vancouver's The Beat 94.5FM and National College Speaker of The Year is here to get us less secretive and sexier. The "Battle of Sexes" rages on not from any "Mars/Venus" differences, but from there being a very tight lid on what each side can actually publicly say about the other. With probing questions and joyful tenacity, Daniel Packard orchestrates a fun and adventurous, crowd-based conversation that slyly pries open the titillating truths and scary secrets we're not supposed to tell the other sex, but need to. When that happens: the truth gets loose, the lid flies off and a whole lot of relationshipenhancing & hilariously educational steam comes flying out. For more information, please visit www.ciaspeakers.com/pages/packard.html. LifeShare Greek Week Blood Drive: Competition to see which Greek Organization and Non-Greek organization can give the most blood during the week. The Winning Greek and Non-Greek RSO who gets the most people to give blood under their organizations name will receive a plaque courtesy of LifeShare to be given out during Student Affairs Awards night in April. The blood drive will be in the commuter lounge, the quad (mobile bus), or in front of the nursing building every day of Greek Week from 8am-3pm (Monday, March 12-Friday March 16). The theme of the blood drive this year is My Big Fat Greek Week Blood Drive. ** No Advanced SIGN-Up required, just make sure your organizations get as many people as possible to donate and make sure they sign in under your organization ** Baseball Band Party and ULL Baseball Game: Between 3-6pm on Saturday, March 17 th after Browse on the Bayou, come out behind the left field fence of the baseball stadium (in the student section) to listen to an afternoon of music performed by a live band on stage and watch your favorite ULM Student Organization prepare for the Battle of the Grill. Then at 6pm stay around as your ULM Warhawks take on in state rival UL-Lafayette Ragin -Cajuns in a Sunbelt Conference showdown. Page 8

5th Annual Battle of the Grill @ the Left Field Lounge (Baseball Stadium) Overview: Set up grill around 3 PM. We encourage partnership between student organizations for this event. Cook enough for as many famished people or to fill the stomachs of your organizations! (All that is required is you make enough for six judges to sample) [Your guess is as good as mine ] Clean up when food runs out or after the baseball game. Be ready to serve at 6:00PM!!!! What to Cook: Every Student Organization member is encouraged to indulge and try as much good southern eatin as they can. Each group should provide (according to what category you enter) a plate with the item entered for a specific category available to the judges at your respective tent in the form of one meat, one side item, or one dessert on separate plates for the category/ies. Cook whatever you think will provide your organization with the best shot at winning while at the same time keeping your costs at a minimum. Suggestions Include: MEAT Ribs, Boston Butt, Shish Kebabs, Chicken, Wild Game (venison, dove, etc.) SIDE Potato Salad, Casserole, Beans, Fried Vegetable (okra, squash, etc) DESSERT Cake, Cobbler, Pie, Cookies What to Bring: Bring your own supplies. Tables and chairs will be provided by your Greek Life so that our guests may sit and eat. Suggested Items to Bring: Tent(s) Grill(s) Food and necessary items for preparation Serving Items (big spoons, tongs, etc) Plates, Napkins, Plastic Culinary ** All food may be cooked offsite and then brought in. However cooking, especially the meat, on site would provide more energy to the atmosphere. One more suggestion would be to craft the deserts and probably sides off site then cook the meat on site. Judging: Each food item of each group will be judged individually for a categorical prize and categorical points. Also, each group s meal as a whole will be judged for a best of show Page 9

prize and best of show points, so your team may want to choose something that goes together. Judging will be performed by Judges selected by ULM Student Life Officials. For the categorical scores, judges will base their scoring on: The items appearance (up to 10 points) The items taste (up to 60 points) The attitude and energy of the team (up to 30 points) For the best of show scores, judges will base their scores on: The items relevance to each other (up to 50 points) The attitude and energy of the team (up to 50 points) Overall appearance of the meal (up to 30 points) Overall taste of the meal (up to 90 points) Would they invite your team over to cook dinner?? (up to 30 points) **Point scale may be revised, but same ration will be kept** Last Thoughts: The idea of this is to not only bring together the ULM Community in a fun and original setting to enjoy company with each other, but also to attract potential new members, other students, faculty, administration, and general ULM supporters. So represent yourselves, your organization, and our student body community in the best light possible! Good luck, Have Fun, Enjoy Eating, and Don t Forget Your Secret Recipes! Page 10
