Liberty Hockey 101 1. On Time for Practice is always at LEAST 10 minutes early and you should be prepared to enter the ice rink as soon as the Zamboni door is closed. 2. On Time for a Game is at LEAST 1 HOUR prior to start time unless captains and coaches advise otherwise or its pre-approved by coaches in advance. 3. Cell Phones are to be put away 1 hour before the game and not used until the coach s talk to the team after the game. 4. Communicate with each other and coaching staff as much as possible. Welcome all players in the program as everyone is part of the team. 5. Don t be afraid to ask questions if you don t understand something. 6. Come to practice ready to work. If you get to the rink early use this time wisely to work on things and not to play games. Ice time is precious and expensive so let s get the most out of it. 7. Represent Olentangy Liberty High School and our hockey program with the utmost respect every time you wear the uniform. 8. Keep your jerseys off the floor and always hang them up. **Failure to be on time or use of a cell phone during games will result in loss of playing time** 4

Team Rules 1. Live healthy - sleep, eat, and drink lots of water 2. Your teammates are your brothers and second family. Treat them like you would like to be treated. Push each other to achieve goals individually and as a team. Captain(s) and Seniors lead by example and hold each and every player accountable. 3. Be respectful and appropriate on social media. 4. No drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. This includes possession of these substances. This also includes vaping and use of vaping products. Please see OLSD Athletic Handbook or if viewing online see the instructions above for penalties and discipline of these violations. 5. Treat all teammates, coaches, YOUR PARENTS, officials, opponents and athletic staff respectfully! No lashing out any official no matter what the call is. The coaching staff will handle all matters pertaining to officiating. No swearing or abusive language on the bench, in the rink, or any team function. Win games or lose games with class! After you score a goal act like you have been there before as excessive taunting will not be tolerated at Liberty Hockey. 6. Anyone who receives a penalty will skate directly to the penalty box and will not throw their stick or slam their stick against the boards outside or inside the penalty box. 5

Team Rules - Travel 1. Per the 2018-2109 Olentangy Local Schools Athletic Handbook: No student is allowed to drive to or from any trip except JV and Varsity intra-district trips to Chiller North. 2. For ICE HAUS games All athletes are expected to travel to the facility on a district bus or van. In special situations a parent or guardian may provide transportation with advance written permission approved by the Athletic Director. a. Please see website schedule for bus departure times. ONTIME is at least 10 min prior to bus departure. b. Be respectful of the bus driver and their bus rules regarding noise, eating and drinking c. All athletes are required to coordinate return travel with their parents. Bus transportation will NOT be provided for the return. If an athlete does not have return transportation, they should discuss directly with the coach. d. Please see the 2018-2109 Olentangy Local Schools Athletic Handbook for additional information. 3. Please make sure you have all equipment needed before leaving your house. 6

Playing Time 1. PLAYING TIME IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT!!! 2. Playing time will be given based on skill, work ethic and hustle as the coaches have seen during each practice prior to each game. **PRACTICE IS WHERE PLAYING TIME IS EARNED** 3. We will always be happy to discuss directly with each player your playing time and how to earn more. 4. If you (the player) are upset with your playing time, it is YOUR responsibility (not your parents!!!!) as the player to communicate this with the coaches. We want to help you improve, help you to succeed in those improvements, and thus help you play more!!! 7

Parents 24 Hour Rule Our Coaching staff abides by a 24 hour no contact rule after each game After the 24 hour window has closed, please reach out via email Spectator Behavior POSITIVE spectating only!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely no foul/vulgar language (in addressing a ref, opposing team's parents/players/coaches, etc) However, we LOVE how passionate parents can be about this program and watching it succeed during contests!!! Failure to support our team/program in a positive manner at contests can result in being asked to leave the contest by coaches, game officials and/or school administration Playing Time Playing time will be discussed first and foremost with your player. This is their athletic career, thus their responsibility to handle. However, if after meeting and working with the coaches in multiple attempts there is still dissatisfaction, the coaching staff is more than happy to meet with you (the parents) and your athlete in one meeting, together, on school grounds to discuss further/provide any additional explanations. We are extremely thankful to have parents who are unbelievably supportive and who are an extension of this team. This program wouldn t be possible without the support of our player s parents!! 8
