Prairie, Custer, and Garfield Counties have cooperatively planned a Regional Small Animal Judging Day for dog, rabbit, poultry, and cat projects. The Judging Day will take place on Wednesday, July 26 th in the Agri-Sports Building, (* SAME LOCATION AS LAST YEAR*) at the Fairgrounds in Miles City. 4-H members from across Southeastern Montana are invited to exhibit their dogs, rabbits, poultry, and cats. Any middle school or high school student who can help at day camp are asked to meet the week before on July 19 to go over activities and help pound a few nails in some boards. It will be at the fairgrounds from 9-11. There will be snacks provided also. You will get to do some of the activities ahead of time. This will replace staying later that afternoon of Day Camp like we have done the last couple of years. This will be something you can mark in your record books. If you have any questions please contact Annie Begger or the extension office. This is a heads up for the fair. We will be doing the silent auction again. So keep this in mind when working on projects. Each member can have 2 items in the silent auction as long as the items were judged as fair entries. If you do food items please take a picture to have present. Example: We had one sell an angel food cake they had judged but made a poster that said they would make them a new one. We had another member take a picture but put their cupcakes in the freezer. Dress Revue will be Wednesday, August 2. It will start at 1:00 at the Moose where we will practice and do the judging and then go to Grandview at 4:00 where we will just do walk through. If you can please let the office know if you are planning on competing and how many outfits by July 14. Remember you need a script on each outfit. If you need help on this let Annie Begger know.
This is the Dawson County group that attended Camp Needmore this year. The kids were able to participate in a lot of activities during the 3 days at camp. A huge THANK YOU to all of the parents that help with transporting kids to and from camp. Your assistance was very much appreciated. ***NEW 4-H POLICY/BULLYING POLICY*** ***MANDATORY FOR ALL 4-HERS & LEADERS*** The Council has adopted a new 4-H Policy, Livestock Policy and Bullying policy. Every 4-H member and leader must sign this policy before they are able to participate in any further 4-H activities. This includes all camps, congress and the Fair. You need to stop in the Extension Office ASAP and get these policies signed if you plan to participate in any of the upcoming activities.
ALL ABOUT THE FAIR The sign up sheet for the food booth is available at the Extension Office. Please call the office with your requested times. Times are filled as calls are received. First called, first choice. This is a big fundraiser so all families are needed to help. Every year the Ranger Review has a full page ad about 4-H clubs, projects and members. We need pictures representing different activities, projects, etc. Bring/email your pictures to the Extension Office by July 31. This is your chance to show our community what 4-H is all about. Fair Books are printed and available for pick up at the Extension Office. Make sure you pick it up as there are a lot of changes.
All entries enrolled in clothing, cloverbuds, exploring 4-H, pockets pet and series books will be judged Monday, August 8 starting at 9:00 A.M. You will need to call the office to schedule a time for your judging. Please watch your email or Facebook for clean up day details. We will let you know as soon as the date has been scheduled. Premium/Livestock Sale checks. We heard from several of our sponsors this year that they were relunctant to sponsor again because they never receive Thank You's from the kids. Therefore this year all premium and livestock sale checks will be handed out at the Extension Office after the fair. In order to receive their checks, the kids will need to hand me a stamped Thank you note to the sponsor before they can have their check. We need to show our sponsors how much we appreciate them so that they continue to give to our 4-H program.
We will be using the new fair entry program this year. You will be able to either do your entries online through the Fair Entry program at https://fairentry.com/fair/signin/1088 or come to the office and fill out an entry blank and I will input your information into the computer. All of the instructions for how to set up your account are in the new fair book. If you plan to enter your projects in the fair you must pre-register. July 28 is the deadline to get your entries submitted to allow us time to input everything in the computer and print the judge s sheets. If you are not pre-registered, you will not have an entry blank at the fair, you won t be on the computer sheet for the judges and you will not get a premium check. This is the first year using the program so please be patient with the process. The program is really nice and will make the entry process so much easier over the course of time.
