Small Animal Deadline is Approaching Small animal deadline is May 8th, youth must enroll by May 8th in order to be eligible to participate in the 2017 Valley County Fair. Please remember that enrollment is not complete and you will not be covered with accident insurance or receive club books until your online enrollment on 4H online has been submitted and enrollment fees have been received. Remember: Returning members should NOT create a new profile. Please call (208) or valley@uidaho.edu if you need assistance. Register at 4Honline.com, enrollment fee of $20 can be paid to the Extension office in person, by mail, or on Pay-Pal. Valley County Weigh-In and Tagging Dates Sheep/Goat Friday, June 2nd, starting at 4:00 p.m. Valley Co. Fairgrounds Scale Remember to get your Bill of Sale/Health form signed when you buy your market animals! The forms are available on the Valley County Extension website under 4-H, Documents and Forms, Valley County Fair, then Producer Affidavits & Health records. Take this form with you when you buy your 4-H livestock project animal. Bring the signed forms to your scheduled weigh-in, we will collect them from you there. Once your market animal is purchased please upload a picture of your animal onto 4-H online. Log onto your account and click your name, on the top left corner click animals/livestock, select your animal and fill out animal information section then upload your photo. Horse Declarations Due May 8th All horse club members need to do complete the horse declaration on 4-H online by logging in and scrolling to the top of the page. You ll see Animals/Livestock, select horse and then fill out the horse declaration. If you have any questions, contact your leader and they will be able to direct you through the process. Southern District 4-H Ambassador Retreat 4-H Ambassadors are youth leaders who promote 4-H using their skills, knowledge, and leadership abilities. A 4-H Ambassador serves to strengthen the 4-H program through education, recruitment and public relations. This excellent opportunity is open to youth ages 13 and above, limited to 50 participants. Registration is open on 4Honline.com. $60 registration fee, scholarships are available. Please contact (208) or astatz@uidaho.edu for more information. What you can expect from this great overnight retreat held at the MOSS Retreat center located in McCall, ID is, Awesome workshops in personality, creating an inclusive habitat, and healthier fast foods. As well as learning how to make effective presentations and also gain skills in working with media and writing your own press release. All while spending time among peers creating memories, playing games, and participating in fun activities!

5 5 Supplies you ll need: Apple Bird Seed Peanut butter Twine or string Apple Slice Bird Feeder Make some quick and easy natural bird treats with the kids and lend your little outdoor peeps a helping hand. Step 1: Slice the apple into 1/4 slices. Step 2: Use a pencil or some sort of punch to make a hole in the top of the apple, not to close to the top or the apple will tear. Step 3: Add the string to use for hanging from branches. Step 4: Spread peanut butter on one side of the slice. Step 5: Sprinkle bird seed onto the peanut butter apple slices and gently press the seeds into the peanut butter. Step 6: Head outside and hang your feeders from tree branches. It s so nice to watch the little birds find these unexpected treats and have a feast! 5
