Andrew with his homebred Sussex steer weighing in at 610 kg. and realising 209.5p and John s home-reared Limousin x Friesian 550 kg. heifer and realising 200p, both sold to retail in West Sussex butchers shop. Demand very similar to recent weeks but just not enough of them. COWS & OVERAGE BEEF (29 inc. 9 Exempt) Another firm trade, big lean steaking Friesian Holsteins to 135.5p. Top bid of 148.5p buys lean Limousin cross also good to report well fleshed Guernseys to 132.5p and gross up to 860 and likewise Jerseys to 114p. Plain medium weight Friesian Holsteins circa 1 per kilo. Exempt Friesians to 136p and Charolais cross, lean and overfull to 135p - all cows trading very well. Overage beef - very much a stand on trade if not dearer. John Ayre s Limousin cross 187.5p, topped by Mark & Jacky Cornwell s heavyweight British Blue at 188p. Best milk lamb trade in the south east and that s a fact. Many more wanted for this level of trade. They must be good and we must know what you have.
