Wake Young Women s Leadership Academy Weekly Announcements February 23 27, 2015

STUDENT CREED I am a Wake Young Women s Leadership Academy Outstanding Woman Leader. I challenge myself and others to excel each day. I am empowered to achieve. I accept responsibility for my decisions and my actions. I am a leader of a future generation who demonstrates integrity in all I say and do. I respect sincerity, diversity, and creativity. I collaborate with my sisters and teachers to create a successful school. I am dedicated to serving my community. With pride and dignity, I am Wake Young Women s Leadership Academy.

LEADERSHIP QUOTE OF THE WEEK Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us. -Wilma Rudolph

WORD OF THE WEEK Indubitable \in-ˈdü-bə-tə-bəl,\ DEFINITION adjective : certainly true : not able to be doubted EXAMPLE Once he had been caught cheating, he knew that he would indubitably never be admitted to Med School.

Outstanding Woman Leader of the Week Bessie Coleman Pilot (1892 1926) Bessie Coleman was the first black woman to earn a pilot's license. Because flying schools in the United States denied her entry, she taught herself French and moved to France, earning her license from France's well-known Caudron Brother's School of Aviation in just seven months. Coleman specialized in stunt flying and parachuting, earning a living barnstorming and performing aerial tricks. In 1922, aviator Bessie Coleman became the first African American woman to stage a public flight in America. She remains a pioneer of women in the field of aviation.
