OXYFLEX -MF General Information Design Supratec Gesellschaft für Umwelt- und produces modern high efficient aeration systems, which are mainly used for oxygen transfer into biological waste water treatment. These products can also be used for any kind of transfer of gases into liquids OXYFLEX is the brand of membrane diffusers (plate, tubes and discs) with a plastic body. The extra ordinary characteristics of OXYFLEX - MF membrane plate diffusers are given by its shape and the materials used. OXYFLEX -MF membrane plate diffusers are available in two sizes: OXYFLEX -MF 650 (width x length) 650 mm x 150 mm and OXYFLEX -MF 1100 (width x length) 1100 mm x 200 mm. The body is a oval plate, made of glass reinforced made of Polypropylene. The membrane is fixed to this body with a plastic frame also made of glass reinforced Polypropylene. Standard membranes are made of EPDM. s made of Silicone and Polyurethane are also available. The membranes have a unique slot-arrangement. The size and arrangement of those slots is optimized to achieve maximum oxygen transfer efficiency. Characteristics Performance OXYFLEX - MF membrane plate diffusers have low pressure loss. OXYFLEX - MF membrane plate diffusers are highly resistant against soiling. OXYFLEX - MF membrane plate diffusers produce fine bubbles of a medium diameter < 2 mm. Unlike tube diffusers, the whole active diffuser surface is at the same hydraulic level, therefore the membranes operate evenly across the full range from minimal to maximal air flow. This feature results in optimum lifetime and efficiency. OXYFLEX -MF membrane plate diffusers can be operated intermittently. OXYFLEX -MF membrane plate diffusers can be installed with plastic- and/or stainless steel pipes and are used for all geometric forms of tanks, but they are extraordinarily good for medium and huge sized tanks. OXYFLEX -MF membrane plate diffusers are well established and are working to the clients satisfaction world-wide. OXYFLEX -MF membrane plate diffusers have a very wide range 2-25 Nm³/h. The design air flow should be approximately 12 ± 2Nm³/h. OXYFLEX -MF membrane plate diffusers can reach specific oxygen transfer efficiency up to 25 go 2 /Nm³xm sub, if coverage and water depth is favourable. Combination Variations For plants with partly intermittent operated tanks, OXYFLEX -MF membrane plate diffusers can be combined with BRANDOL ceramic tube diffusers. However, different pressure losses have to be considered Modified OXYFLEX -MF membrane plate diffusers are also available for drinking water purposes. OXYFLEX - MF 1100 For fine bubble aeration of liquids - No guarantee-claims can be derived from the diagram! Supratec C U R V E S P r e s s u r e - O x y g e n OXYFLEX -MF 1100 membrane plate diffuser are high efficient diffusers, and are mainly used for oxygen supply to bioligical waste water treatment plants. Beside procedural necessities, important criterions are used to select the matching fine-bubble aerationtechnology to the features of a treatment plant. Systems using OXYFLEX -MF1100 membrane plate diffusers are typically designed at a specific air-flow of 12 Nm³/h per unit. This gives a good compromise between capital investment and efficiency. The following table shows figures taken from an actual oxygen efficiency test. The values have been reached in a carrousel basin with water depth of 5,0m, submergence of diffusers of 4,8m and coverage of 16,2% (in the aeration zones - 2 zones per tank). These are typical values particular to the test basin. The figures can deviation ± 25% in tanks of different sizes and diffuser density and loading. I N S T A L L A T I O N OXYFLEX - MF 1100 FOR For fine FINEbubble BUBBLE aeration AERATION of liquids OF LIQUIDS M A N U A L -B- Description OXYFLEX -MF 1100 membrane plate diffuser Type AS has a solid, strong, horizontal body, made of glass-reinforced Polypropylene and a slipped over membrane (e.g.: EPDM). The two-piece-frame, made of glass-reinforced Polypropylene ensures the proper location of the membrane. The body has an air-socket of 29 mm. This clamp can be fastened by screws or wedges. The integral gasket of the clamp seals the system. Measurements Width:.. 215mm, Length:.. 1105mm, Height:..30mm - with rounded edges. Free membrane area: Length: 1100 mm, Width: 210 mm (0,2 m²) Storage Preparation The diffusers should be stored in their packing inside a dry and aerated building. DIN 7716 has to be considered. Before installation of the OXYFLEX - MF 1100 - membrane plate diffuser Type -B- it has to be checked that the piping system is clean. Drilling chips, dirt etc. have to be removed, as those will be transported into the diffusers as soon as blowers are set into operation causing serious damage to the diffuser membranes. Levelling Installation OXYFLEX -MF 1100 - membrane plate diffuser Type -B- are normally installed onto rectangular pipes. The piping system has to be levelled to maximum ± 10 mm. OXYFLEX -MF 1100 - membrane plate diffuser Type -B- can be fixed to rectangular pipes made of stainless steel. On the upper side of those pipes, centred holes of diameter 30 mm must be made and 4 threatbolts are welded onto this pipe. The diffuser's air socket must fit in the a.m. hole. The bolts will suit into the 4 holes in the two-piece-frame of OXYFLEX -MF 1100 - membrane plate diffuser Type -B-. Care must be taken of the horizontal seat of the diffusers. The gasket, made of EPDM must be clean and undamaged and should sit between diffuser and pipe.

f o r f i n e b u b b l e a e r a t i o n o f l i q u i d s For fine bubble aeration of liquids Supratec O P E R A T I O N M A N U A L OXYFLEX - MF 1100 Function and Leakage Check First Run of Diffusers After installation of OXYFLEX -MF 1100 Plate Diffusers a function and leakage test should be carried out. The tank should be filled with clean water up to maximum 10 cm above diffusers surface and the diffusers set in operation. Then function and installation can be checked and confirmed by report. After function and installation has been checked and confirmed OXYFLEX -MF 1100 Plate Diffusers have to be operated at least another 60 hours continuously. Water level shall be as quickly as possible raised up to minimum 100 cm above diffusers surface. IMPORTANT: Diffusers should not stand still Visual Bubble Check Oxygen- Transfer- Efficiency Test Start up The visual judgement of the bubble distribution should not be taken before the above specific first run of diffusers. To do the visual check, the diffusers shall operate at maximum capacity and shall be turned to the minimum. Test of even aeration (visual bubble check) must take place when the water level is at least 60-100 cm above diffusers surface. Test of even aeration (visual bubble check) at minimum air flow can only take place if the water temperature is above 10 C. Before the stated oxygen transfer efficiency figures of the OXYFLEX -MF 1100 Plate Diffusers are proved with an oxygen transfer efficiency test, the above mentioned steps have to be considered. The oxygen transfer efficiency test must be done accordingly to accepted rules (e.g. ATV-M 209) in clean or waste water. Guarantee figures have to be controlled exactly. It is necessary to have a precise air-flow measurement system. After successful oxygen transfer efficiency test, start up of the OXYFLEX -MF 1100 Plate Diffusers may follow immediately. If there is a postponement of the start up, care should be taken that the water level stays at least 100 cm above diffusers surface to protect OXYFLEX -MF 1100 Plate Diffusers from sunlight and / or freezing.

M A I N T E N A N C E OXYFLEX - MF 1100 For fine bubble aeration of liquids M A N U A L Maintenance OXYFLEX -MF 1100 Plate Diffusers do not need a lot of maintenance. Usually it is enough to have one run of 10 to 15 minutes operation at maximum air-flow per day. To do so, it may help to shut down the system partially, by closing the corresponding valves. This removes layers of sludge which may have occurred after long times of in operation of the system or long times of low specific air flow. At least once per year OXYFLEX -MF 1100 Plate Diffuser should be checked visually, particulary they should be checked for layers of sludge or similar. If so, those layers should be removed carefully. A seperate maintenance-contract is available. Supervision A Visual bubble check should be carried out daily. The pressure loss of the system should be monitored and reported monthly. Apparent changes of the bubble distribution and/or of the pressure loss should be promptly reported to SUPRATEC GmbH, especially at installations with intermittent operation where there is a risk that activated sludge could penetrate the entire piping through a damaged OXYFLEX -MF 1100 Plate Diffuser which would affect function and lifetime of all OXYFLEX -MF 1100 Plate Diffusers in the system. The maximum of SUPRATEC GmbH s warranty for OXYFLEX -MF 1100 membrane is 24 months. Longer warranty can be arranged only with conclusion of a maintenance contract between the operator and SUPRATEC GmbH. Damage and/or other influences are specifically excluded from the warranty promise. Warranty The maximum of SUPRATEC GmbH's warranty for -Plate-Diffuser OXYFLEX MF is 24 month. Longer warranty can be arranged only with conclusion of a maintenance contract between the operating and SUPRATEC GmbH. Damages and/or outer influences are specifically excluded from the warranty promise. The warranty ends if it known, that sewage is partially mainly full of industrial origin and/or the sewage has damaging influence on membrane diffusers and the SUPRATEC GmbH was not informed accordingly. In such case, a confirmation of the warranty is to be ordered through the SUPRATEC GmbH. The correction of vaults in the warranty is to determine by approval. In case of warranty starts a 2 year long warranty for the changed diffusers. Is the first warranty longer running, it apply till it ends.
