Hazards identification: Product does not release hazardous materials in normal use, thermal decomposition in a fire may release toxic gases, fabrication may release graphite dusts which may be harmful if inhaled or if contact is made with skin or eyes. Effects of overexposure: Acute: High concentration of graphite or PET dusts may be irritating to the eyes, skin, mucous membranes and respiratory tract. Chronic: Inhalation of high concentrations of graphite dusts over prolonged periods of time may cause pneumoconiosis. Preexisting pulmonary disorders, such as emphysema, may possibly be aggravated by prolonged exposure to the high concentrations of graphite dusts. Page 1of 5
Physicals Hazards: Graphite dusts are electrically conductive. Accumulations of dusts may cause shorting of electrical circuits 4. 4.1 4.2 4.3 4.4 5. 5.1 5.2 5.3 5.4 First aid measures: Inhalation: For overexposure to fumes or particulate matter, remove the exposed person to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, oxygen may be administered. Seek medical attention. If breathing has stopped, artificial respiration should be started immediately. Skin: If material gets on the skin, wash thoroughly with mild soap and water. Seek medical attention if irritation develops or persist. Dermatitis should be treated symptomatically by a doctor. Eyes: If irritation occurs, do not rub the eyes. Flush eyes with water for at list 15 minutes. Ingestion: Ingestion is unrealistic. Firefighting measures: The products are noncombustible and do not pose fire hazard. However, packaging material may burn. Suitable extinguishing media: Water, foam, carbon dioxide or dry powder Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons: None Combustion products: Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and trace gases. Special protective equipment for firefighters: Independent respiratory protection to prevent fume/gas inhalation in poorly ventilated areas. 6. 6.1 6.2 Accidental release measures: Personal precautions: No special precautions are required. Environmental precautions: No special precautions are required. 7. 7.1 Handling and storage Handling: Unpack material at application site to avoid unnecessary handling of product. Keep work areas clean. Scrap material and debris dispose in suitable containers. Ensure good ventilation. Local exhaust ventilation may be required if the method of use produces dust levels that exceed the maximum exposure limit. Promptly clean up any spills that may occur Any dust generated during handling should be cleaned up by wet mopping or vacuuming Page 2 of 5 2
7.2 Storage: Before use keep material in original packaging. Store material in areas where it is protected against adverse conditions including precipitation. 8. 8.1 8.2 8.3 8.4 8.5 8.6 Exposure controls/personal protection: Local regulations may apply. Engineering measures: In work areas ensure good ventilation. Control parameters: Local regulations may apply for fibre dust particle concentration per 1 ml of workplace air. Respiratory protection: In the even of heavy dust development and in confined spaces, use disposable facemasks. Hand protection: Gloves are recommended only. Hand protection is not essential while handling with the aforesaid product. Eye protection: With heavy dust development, wear safety goggles. Skin protection: Wear just the regular work clothing it is recommended to wash and change cloth once the working time is finished. 9.
