Parents with children in lessons may swim for a reduced rate of $5.37 (plus GST) or purchase a Swim pass with Lessons. Swim Pass with Lessons When you register a child for swimming lessons, you may purchase an adult swim pass for a reduced rate of $35. This pass will allow you to swim for 10 weeks, while your child has his/her lesson. After the lesson, you and your child may spend 15 minutes together in the swirl pool. 146 Child & Youth Aquatic Programs TO DETERMINE WHICH LEVEL YOUR CHILD SHOULD BE IN PLEASE READ THE COURSE DESCRIPTIONS BELOW. Parent & Tot 1 Max. Ratio 1:12 3 to 12-months Learn to enjoy the water with a parent. Orientation to pool and being safe around water. This program will create a comfort level for both child and parent. Entries/exist, floats and movement Parent & Tot 2 Max. Ratio 1:12 12 to 24-months Learn to enjoy the water with a parent (continuation from Level 1). Unassisted entries/exits. Floats with an aid, submersion in water, activities with instructor/other parents. Parent & Tot 3 Max. Ratio 1:12 2 to 3-year-old Learn to enjoy the water with a parent. Your child will experience safety awareness and water skills through discovery, front and back floats, submersion and movement skills. Active parent participation is required. PRESCHOOL A Max. Ratio 1:4 These preschoolers will have fun learning to get in and out of the water. We ll help them jump into shallow water. They ll try floats and glides on their front and back, and wearing a Personal Floatation Device. They ll learn to get their face wet and blow bubbles underwater. Prerequisite: 3 to 5 years and taking lessons without parents. PRESCHOOL B Max. Ratio 1:4 These preschoolers learn to jump into shallow water by themselves, and get in and get out wearing a Personal Floatation Device. They ll submerge and exhale underwater. With a buoyant aid, they ll work on moving through the water kicking on their front and back. Prerequisite: Completed Preschool A. PRESCHOOL C Max. Ratio 1:4 These youngsters will try jumping into chest deep water wearing a Personal Floatation Device. They ll work on moving efficiently through the water on their front and back, and while wearing a PFD. Prerequisite: Completed Preschool B. PRESCHOOL D Max. Ratio 1:4 Advanced preschoolers will learn to do solo jumps into deeper water and get out by themselves. They ll learn to support themselves at the surface, open their eyes underwater and recover objects from the bottom in deeper water. They ll master the short (3-5m) swims on their front and back. Prerequisite: Completed Preschool C. PRESCHOOL E Max. Ratio 1:4 These youngsters get more adventuresome with sideways entries wearing a Personal Floatation Device. Front and back floats with rollovers, and holding their breath underwater for up to 5 sec. They ll work on longer (5-10m) front and back crawl swims and get a giggle out of whip kick. Prerequisite: Completed Preschool D. SWIMMER 1 Max. Ratio 1:6 These beginners will become comfortable jumping into water with and without a Personal Flotation Device. They ll learn to open their eyes and exhale underwater, and gain skills to confidently get objects off the bottom. They ll work on floats and moving through the water on front and back. Pre-requisite: Beginner, non-swimmer or Preschool A, B or C. SWIMMER 2 Max. Ratio 1:6 These advanced beginners will jump into deeper water and learn to be comfortable falling sideways into the water wearing a Personal Floatation Device. They ll be able to support themselves at the surface without an aid, learn whip kick and swim 10-15m on their front and back. Pre-requisite: Swimmer 1 or Preschool D or E. SWIMMER 3 Max. Ratio 1:8 Their new bag of tricks includes treading water, handstands, in-water somersaults and swimming underwater. They ll work on front crawl and back crawl over short distances, and endurance swims of 25 to 50m. Pre-requisite: Swimmer 2. SWIMMER 4 Max. Ratio 1:8 These intermediate swimmers will refine dives and stride entries. They ll wrestle with eggbeater kick, master footfirst surface dives, and in-water back somersaults. They ll learn to scull and swim lengths of front crawl, back crawl, whip kick, and breaststroke arms with breathing. They ll cap it all off with endurance swims of 50-100m. Pre-requisite: Swimmer 3. SWIMMER 5 Max. Ratio 1:10 These swimmers will master shallow dive entries, eggbeater kicks and footfirst sculling. Surface dives will take them down to underwater swims. They ll refine their front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke over 50m swims of each. Then they ll pick up the pace in 25m sprints and endurance swims of 100-200m Pre-requisite: Swimmer 4. SWIMMER 6 Max. Ratio 1:10 These advanced swimmers will rise to the challenge of compact jump entries, and eggbeater kick for 1 min. while changing directions. They ll develop strength and power in head-up front crawl or breaststroke over 25m. They ll easily swim 100m front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke, and complain about the 4 x 25m sprints in interval training. The 200 to 300m endurance swim will be a piece of cake. Pre-requisite: Swimmer 5. ROOKIE PATROL Max. Ratio 1:10 Rookie Patrol features timed 100m swims, 350m workouts and swims with clothes. A work hard play hard approach of this program develops swimming strength and efficiency for water safety behaviour. Pre-requisite: Swimmer 6. RANGER PATROL Max. Ratio 1:10 Ranger Patrol features a timed 200m swim, 100 m fitness medley and support/carrying a 5 lb weight. Content is challenging but achievable with emphasis on effort. Skill drills enhance capability in the water including a non-contact rescue. Pre-requisite: Rookie Patrol. STAR PATROL Max. Ratio 1:10 Star Patrol features a timed 300 m swim, 3 x 600m workouts; swim with clothes; defence methods; support and carry a 10lb weight. Scene assessment and towing rescue are introduced. Pre-requisite: Range Patrol. BRONZE STAR Max. Ratio 1:12 Excellent preparation for success in. Participants develop problem-solving and decision making skills individually and in partners. Candidates learn CPR and develop the lifesaving skills needed to be their own lifeguard. Includes a timed 400m swim. Pre-requisites: 10 to 12 years old and Star Patrol.

Adult 101 You ll work towards a 10-15m. swim on your front and back. You ll be able to do jump entries from the side and support yourself at the surface for 10 29 sec. You ll be able to recover an object from the bottom of chest deep water. Adult 201 Kick it up a notch by working towards a 50 100m. swim. You ll be able to perform dive entries and demonstrate breaststroke arms and breathing over 25m. You ll develop sculling skill and strengths over 10m, and show off your handstands in shallow water. Adult 301 You ll be doing 200 300m continuous swims and sprinting 25m. You ll be front crawling, back crawling and breast stroking over 100m You ll be sculling feet first and swimming 25m head-up.
