THE BRISBANE EISTEDDFOD EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE 2015 PRESIDENT Ken Meissner president@brisbaneeistedfod.org.au SECRETARY Kim Hill secretary@brisbaneeisteddfod.org.au VICE PRESIDENT Leslie Martin vice-president@brisbaneeisteddfod.org.au TREASURER Lyn Pond treasurer@brisbaneeisteddfod.org.au PRESIDENT S MESSAGE I would like to record a formal tribute to my colleague, outgoing president Jos Van de Ven, who has served with distinction during a period of intense growth for Solo Eisteddfod. His leadership has contributed to making this Eisteddfod the spectacular event it is today. Jos work commitments prevent him from continuing, and I have recently accepted the role of president. I look forward to renewing friendships with the dance professionals whose students have supported this event over many years, and welcoming those who may be joining our premier exhibition of solo talent for the first time. I trust all competing entrants, those who win, and those who do not, will enjoy a positive and rewarding experience, and be left with an intense desire to return for many years to come. The Brisbane Eisteddfod has a history of artistic excellence extending back 117 years, and the Dance Solo Section is growing from year to year and is a visible example of what the eisteddfod movement is successfully achieving. Our Dance Solos convenor and committee members take great pride in presenting an outstanding event for competitors, dance professionals, and the large numbers of spectators whose support makes continuation and growth a reality from year to year. Our committee and a contingent of helpers are dedicated volunteers, whose only motivation is to advance the skills and performance opportunities of young Brisbane artists. We need your active support to retain this service to the dance community. On behalf of all of us, may you enjoy this exciting display of superb talent and commitment to the world of dance. Ken Meissner President, The Brisbane Eisteddfod. MESSAGE FROM 2015 CONVENOR - Vicki Hansen DANCE SOLOS Welcome to all competitors. My name is Vicki Hansen and I am very excited to be the convenor for the 2015 Dance Solos. Christine Spencer has kindly volunteered her services once again this year to transition the role of convenor to myself, Christine is responsible for building the Dance Solos eisteddfod to be a leading showcase of talent over the last thirteen years and I have been very fortunate to have her support and guidance. We have a very full programme of entries and we are all looking forward to seeing the range of talent that will be on display this year. All positions involved in bringing this eisteddfod together are volunteers who have given up enormous amounts of their time to put the event together. I can now speak from experience from saying it is no small commitment from the volunteers and I wish to share my thanks with those involved and those who will be involved during the event. There is always opportunity for others who may wish to volunteer and support the event, if you have an interest please contact me to learn more on how you can assist. As in past years the scale of this event means we have no capability to make changes to the published programme. There are not too many changes but once again it has been necessary to split some of the larger sections into A and B. Please do not request to be moved as this is not an option. To all the parents who have offered to help and to all the sponsors and donations that we have received this year. Thank you!!!! You are invaluable!!!!! Vicki Hansen Solos Convenor dancesolos@brisbaneeisteddfod.org.au 1

She has a very successful school in Innisfail, with her students attaining excellent results in Examination and Eisteddfod work. Louise is also involved in production work for many clubs and organizations such as the Italian Community functions as well as some school based dance work including the Mary s Place dance students who regularly perform at events at Good Counsel College. Also has choreographed for Choral Society s Oklahoma, Once upon a mattress and for Nunsense twice.
